The Haddon Hall Hotel presents a mixed bag for guests, with some considering it a great find for the price while others feel it doesn't quite hit the mark on value. While the rooms are appreciated for their comfort and amenities, critiques of their small size and outdated style are not uncommon. Cleanliness stands out as a strong suit, with the majority of guests commending the hotel's maintenance. The amenities generally meet guest expectations, adding to the hotel's charm, but some have pointed out minor grievances with fixtures. Service staff at the hotel are often lauded for their dedication and friendliness, although a few guests have mentioned issues like fluctuating shower temperatures. The overall atmosphere is cozy, contributing to a pleasant stay despite some dated elements.

The hotel looked well cared for from the outside. This theme continued inside, lovely thick unworn carpets, fresh decorations and a very well designed single room. It was small, but the bed was comfortable and it was far superior to some other single rooms I have stayed in which look as if they have been furnished at random from car boot sales or charity shops. This was well decorated but homely.

The hotel was warm and comfortable, the food was very good and plentiful. Our waitress was friendly, quick and helpful.

There were only 2 small gripes. Some staff at reception were sharp with me and other customers, almost to the point of rudeness, others were friendly and helpful. The second gripe was the shower in the en suite. I was very glad of a walk in shower but the shower door was very stiff and I really struggled to open it. It slammed shut with such force it made me jump. Inside the shower the water kept changing temperature and was not much more than a sprinkle.

My friend and I went to the Haddon Hall Hotel, Eastbourne, from 29/12/24 to 02/01/2024.;From the minute Johnson's driver, Carl, picked us up in our village, our experience was first class. We were able to buy tea, coffee, alcohol on the coach. If we preferred to stay seated at the comfort stops we had all we needed on the coach. The hotel welcomed us with open arms. Nothing was too much trouble. We both took a walking aid, and someone always helped us up the steps and down. Our room was lovely. We had 3 bay windows with a sea view, a dressing table, a coffee table with easy chairs, a hospitality tray, and plenty of drawers and wardrobe space. There was daily cleaning if you wanted it, plus clean bedding and towels every day if needed. We had entertainment every afternoon and evening, bingo, quizzes, and excellent singers. This morning, New Year's Day, we were served Buck's Fizz at breakfast time. When we went to Tunbridge Wells yesterday, Carl the driver treated us to bubbly and chocs! The food has been really good, I eat fish, but no meat, and there has been a good fish choice every evening, plus 3 more options, including a vegetarian dish. My friend and I would recommend this trip without reservation.

I was the substitute on a family coach trip as a family member couldn't go. Luckily, I had a week off work at the same time.
Can't fault the location of the hotel. I stayed in a twin room, even though the location is situated on a road leading to the seafront we could see the sea from our room.
Free WiFi throughout, did need to ask at reception for the password, hairdryer, flat screen TV, kettle, cups, milk, tea, coffee in the room as well as towels, soap and shower gel. Very comfy beds, I slept very well. Even though we were at the front, didn't really notice the sounds of the traffic, in fact I would say it was quiet. There were some signs of wear and tear but nothing major, room still very comfortable.
Food, great. Good selection to choose from for starters, mains and pudding.
Friendly barman.

I stay in lots of hotels for work and leisure and I usually find something to commend each establishment. In the Haddon Hall's case, it is the location, cleanliness and friendliness of the staff. All were good. However, the rest of the experience was very average at best. Location is just off the seafront and very handy for the pier, bandstand, town centre, railway station etc. The staff were polite and efficient. However, the hotel is tired to the point of exhaustion. The room was small, decor worn and the bedroom furniture was well past its sell-by date. The bathroom was clean and a reasonable size given the scale of the rest of the room. Hot water was instant and plentiful although the shower fittings were broken meaning it was a bit awkward to shower properly. This hotel has a touch of the 'tinsel and turkey' about it, even in August and clearly caters mainly to the elderly coach party market. Generally, the state of Eastbourne's mid-price hotels is a disappointment. They would do well to look at the Burlington in nearby Worthing to see how to restore and run a classic sea-front hotel.

This was our first holiday to the Haddon Hall Hotel via Gibbons Coach Holidays. Upon our arrival we found the hotel to be a very nice looking place to spend our holiday. Spotless and clean/food was really nice and hot served by very friendly staff who couldn't do enough for you. Bingo and live entertainment. It has a very relaxing lounge so that those who like a quiet drink can just sit back and take it easy. Good views from the rooms, however, the bathroom has very limited space, ie it wasn't easy to wash your face without knocking your head on the glass shelf? Drinks a bit on the expensive side but all-in-all we enjoyed our stay there. Steps up into the hotel. It has a lift but is so small it can only carry 3 people or a wheel chair and 1 person. Would we visit again? Yes but only if the bar was a bit 'cheaper'?

First attempt to book at £240 resulted in rejected card which was strangely accepted minutes later but at £280!!
Wi-Fi was not available in our room despite claims the advertised claim.
Breakfast, advertised in the hotel’s information book as being available until 9.30 was not available at 9.00 the day we left as there were apparently too many guests! No apology was offered and the attitude suggested it was probably our fault!
We stayed there because of the location near the tennis - we won’t however being going back!

The room being a single was small but as I spent all day out on a coach it was all I needed. The bed was a bit hard but it may have been new, the only bad night I had was the first night when I didn’t get much sleep. Good size shower and toilet. The food for breakfast and in the evening was very good, they ask you at breakfast what you would like for your evening meal so it is delivered hot, tea and coffee can be a bit strong so if you want it slightly weaker all you have to do is ask. The evening entertainment is quite good not brilliant just good.

Although I was solo, I went in a coach party.
I have never stayed in a single room so tiny. It measured approx 5ft by 10ft. it covered a bedroom including the 'bathroom,, which contained a toilet and a curtained recess for the shower. The basin was in the bedroom part, as there was no room in the bathroom area. I used a walker, as did several of the guests. To get into and out of the hotel there was a wooden ramp, but that was only to be used by the men carrying suitcases. The elderly and disabled guests had to carry their walker up steps. I saw several struggle to do so. A couple passing as I attempted to carry mine up the steps did that for me. The photos show a wooden bed frame, but mine was Victorian ironwork. The food was good, as were the staff. It was to celebrate Christmas and yes there were lovely decorations around, but no christmas entertainment. Mainly bingo all afternoon and early evening. The entertainment each night was excellent but after bingo, during which people retired to their beds.
Father Christmas arrived, but no gifts for guests like at other hotels. He was that evenings entertainer, who left the hall to dress up, then he came back to continue with his great renditions.
If I was to return again, but not at Christmas I would have to pay the single supplement to get a bit better room.

Enjoyed my stay at this hotel and it was well planned regarding COVID restrictions.
The hotel rooms are small but are kept nice and clean with a daily change of towels.

All the staff were very pleasant, friendly and helpful.

The dinning room was well organised considering that there was three coach companies plus independent travellers staying. There was an excellent choice on the menu and all the food was well presented and hot.

The only negative I found was the lift which I think many guests found difficult to negotiate the two doors !!!

The hotel is ideally placed for the promenade.

Went on a coach trip. The room we were allocated was nicely decorated but a big disappointment, far too small, have had caravan bedrooms not much smaller, it was boiling hot in there and the window only opened around 6 inches. The door could not be locked from the inside. We asked not to be disturbed one morning, but put the one chair in the room against the door "just in case" and HeyHo, some time later someone trying to open our door to clean. After being out for the evening we couldn't get any cold water out of the taps, they were both running hot. Let the cold tap run for over ten minutes and still the same. The shower was very dangerous, far too small, couldn't. turn round properly, the temperature control is on a level with your shoulder and too easily moved so if you did accidentally catch it while showering you either froze or scalded yourself. A lot of fellow travellers had the same problem. seemed to be luck of the draw whether you got a decent sized room or not. Food was ok and the dining room serving staff were very good. Didn't use entertainment room so can't comment on that. Reason being, we had a drink in the bar on the first night . big mistake, prices are ridiculously high. Got charged £10.45 for a pint and a malibu and coke. Coke is sold by the bottle (330ml) and they charge £2.75 for it. Needless to say we went out to Wetherspoons and paid less than half of hotel's prices. A few other guests followed too. So, would we go back? In a word No.
