The staff are wonderful, nothing is too much trouble from the minute you arrive. The Devonshire Suite room was spacious, with separate living area, and really comfy bed.
They even arranged a small fridge for our stay at no extra cost, so we could have cold drinks.
Breakfast was fresh cooked, generous portions, and extra helpings of toast! As well as cereals, fresh fruit, yogurts, and pastries.
Couldn't recommend this more. Thank you very much to all the staff.

The staff were so friendly and helpful - my travelling companion has mobility problems and the staff carried our bags to the rooms and the car. The restaurant staff were efficient and very helpful. The food was excellent with good choices. Unfortunately breakfast was the only meal we had as the restaurant was closed the night before so you need to book if you want a meal - they had closed because they had no bookings. The car park is right by the Hotel with an entrance door to a lift on the lower ground floor, which is very helpful if you have mobility problems. The bedrooms are a little old fashioned but comfortable. I would definitely stay again.

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights over the Christmas period while visiting our daughter nearby.
Good points: comfortable and very large bed, spacious room, generous hospitality tray which included hot chocolate sachets and biscuits as well as teas and coffee, free on site parking, a quiet residential street, very pleasant staff, a welcome addition of a modern lift in an old building. Everywhere was very clean and tidy. Breakfast on our first morning was excellent, although seeing staff serving it in coloured plastic gloves was off-putting even if it was good hygiene practice. The hotel was extremely warm, easily rectified in the room but in public areas, rather too much.
On our second morning, breakfast was not as good. We had to ask twice for toast that didn’t arrive and both of us asked for no baked beans but our plates were covered in them and there were no hash browns. Finally, on checking out, we were told that we hadn’t received the room we had booked. The hotel kindly deducted money from the bill as compensation but we didn’t really understand how this mistake had occurred. We had wondered about the appearance of our room and the bathroom which was a little less than luxurious, but no-one said anything to us on checking in. As we don’t often stay in hotels, we prefer to spend a bit more money to have a better room, so this was a bit disappointing, especially at Christmas.

Booked into the Devonshire for our 54 Wedding Anniversary. Pleasantly surprized to get an upgrade to a Suite. The suite had plenty of room and the beds were very comfortable. The bathroom had both a bath and shower which we found were both small, we are both average size. The room has no AirCon which i can understand due to the age of the building but at the very least they could have supplied a fan. We had not booked any meals but decided to go down for breakfast on our first day. To be frank the breakfast that i had, was disgusting and should not have been served. The egg was like those fake plastic ones and the hash brown was that hard it was inedible. I did repot this but forgot to mention that the coffee was served tepid and was also ver very strong. We had thought of dining at the restaurant but after the breakfast decided not to. Staff on the reception are very helpful and the cleaning staff are bothfriendly and helpful. The Hotel also has the bonus of free parking.

I have to say that from the minute you walk through the doors of this hotel you feel welcome, that kind of feeling doesn’t happen in many hotels.
Reception was so helpful and informative. My room was spotless, the room had everything you need for a nights stay, coffee tray etc with a bottle of water and a shortbread biscuit (great choice).
We also had dinner in the hotel restaurant which was delicious and the restaurant staff where very attentive.
Breakfast was lovely, I don’t understand people who book a hotel and not breakfast 😱 that’s one of the best parts for me.
The bed was extremely comfortable too and I had a lovely nights sleep.
Till next time.
Thank you Devonshire Park

I had checked quite a few hotels before deciding on this one - it has it's own carpark - and we parked the day we arrived and walked or took a bus from a Stop close by every day. We were welcomed by Hugh and were impressed with the size and layout of the room and ensuite he offered us after we had declined the room we had been allocated. There was nothing wrong with the first room but it just wasn't necessary for us to have a separate sitting area. Our bed was so comfortable and there was plenty of room to move around in the bedroom and the spacious ensuite which had a bath and a shower cubicle. There are at least two lounges and a pleasant bar area, plus a breakfast room in which we enjoyed a tasty breakfast. Jackie and another young lady were kept busy as the hotel was nearly full. We thoroughly enjoyed our few days in Devonshire Park Hotel and, thanks to recommendations from Hugh, we had a delicious meal in Meze Restaurant (about £6 in a taxi) or we walked just round the corner to the Rosetto restaurant when the Hotel restaurant was unavoidably closed. Hugh is a font of knowledge and we look forward to returning. Thank you everyone.

This is an amazing hotel on so many levels, if you are an EV driver hotel has two EV chargers in the car park- please note not destination chargers and not free but for convenience can’t be beaten.. £0.79 kWh operated by pod point.. Hotel staff were really freiandly and helpful. room was fantastic, really comfy bed, bathroom with bath and separate shower, tea and coffee making facilities with shortbread biscuits, all amazing value for money.. A special mention must go to the fact I accidentally left my man bag in the room, 😂 they returned it to me so I got it before I went on holiday the following week and when I called eagerly wanting to pay for the trouble they refused, I have never written a review like this but these guys deserve it, they are the best! Many many thanks🤓

This is a very impressive hotel that enjoys a slightly old-fashioned atmosphere that is all for the good. It is well maintained and the staff were very personable and efficient. The bedroom was well furnished with a comfy settee and a fantastically comfortable bed that enabled a sound nights sleep. We took advantage of eating early in the restaurant before attending the James Martin road show at the Congress Theatre that is literally over the road. The food was excellent and the service swift and attentive. The hotel is very quiet yet is only a few minutes walk from the seafront and town. A very rare find and unhesitatingly recommended

My partner and I booked this hotel relatively last minute to join friends in Eastbourne for the weekend. Our £170 room was very spacious, with extremely high ceilings and massive windows which made the room so light and airy. Cleaned immaculately, with all the amenities needed provided in the room including hairdryer, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, ironing board and iron. The car park is small but we didn’t have trouble getting a space, and there is the option to leave keys with reception to move your car if necessary. Electric charging spaces were also available.

Honestly this place is a real gem. Upon arrival Harry was super helpful in finding me a parking space for my van. He also went far and beyond to make me feel welcome and found me a decent room, especially as they was not expecting me until the following day. The room was kept extremely clean by the staff throughout the 3 days I stayed there and the complimentary drinks/shortbread was always replenished the next day. The food inside the restaurant is one of the best I’ve come across in 100’s of hotels. It’s cooked with care and pretty much perfection. The waiters wear masks and the service is very professional and clean. Paul who comes in the evening for the night shift is such a lovely person and it was a pleasure getting to know him while I sat and chatted with the guests in the bar. Overall, this was a very pleasant experience and I’m looking forward to coming back sometime.
