The Travelodge Eastbourne Willingdon Drove is celebrated for its comfortable beds and tranquil rooms, with a reputation for cleanliness that shines through in guests' appreciation for spotless accommodations and strong showers. While the parking facilities are well-regarded for their ample lighting, some guests have faced challenges with hot water and upkeep in their rooms. Although opinions are split on the hotel's value, with some questioning the cost-benefit ratio, the staff generally receives compliments for their courteous and supportive demeanor.
However, it's worth noting that a few visitors have encountered service hiccups. The rooms, while typically clean and comfy, are occasionally critiqued for a lack of modernity and maintenance issues.

Detailed Reviews
Very friendly and helpful staff. We booked an accessible room which was clean/tidy and the bathroom had plenty of space. What I also liked was that the reception area had a table with replacement tea/coffee bits. So we could have more than the one cup of tea per day you get in most places. There is a Toby Carvery nearby for breakfast (opens at 9) and other meals, but that isn’t associated to this Travelodge. And they don’t allow dogs! If you pay for breakfast at this travelodge you receive a Breakfast To Go box. This contains a bowl of cornflakes, carton of milk, flapjack, panne au chocolat and a carton of orange juice. More than enough if you don’t want a big breakfast.
Overall really pleased with our experience at this location.

Room Tip: Although there is a busy road nearby, we didn’t hear it at all during the night.

Room was good although tired. Shows it's age. Bed comfy and slept well. Coffee readily available. Towels were clean and soft. Easy to access and regardless of it being on a main road/roundabout there was no noise inside.

I've stayed here a few times - the staff are always so helpful and very friendly. Their helping me with my bags is never too much trouble for them. The bed is always extremely comfortable and very little noise, if any, can be heard through the walls. My only criticism are that there's usually no soap in the dispensers and that it's a bit windy (or very windy), there's always a whining noise coming from the window, no matter which room I'm giv en.

No one came to to the room for the five nights we stayed to replace toilet rolls, soap, shower gel, bed linen, towels or even provide the missing remote control despite countless promises. We asked 4 times and left the sign on the for every day.
We had to get clean, dry towels from reception and new toilet rolls, How you expect these to be enough for 5 days is beyond us.
We reported the missing tv remote on night one and no one seemed to be bothered at all.
No one emptied the rubbish bins so we took them down to reception on day 4.
Various reception staff promised we would return to new towels, toilet rolls, soap etc but in the end we had to retrieve them ourselves.

On arrival I asked if we could have a ground floor room as we had heavy suitcases. This was given. I then turned to my wife (who is a non-British ethnic minority) and mentioned that it was typical of budget hotels in the UK not to have a lift. The lady checking us in then shouted at me behind my back. "I am the manager, if you're going to be rude I won't check you in". I replied that I was making a comment to my wife and in no way being rude. A further problem arose on our last day at the hotel when she burst into the room without notice and asked why we were still there. I had to tell her we had paid for an extra night as we were checking out late. She then said she did not know so I reminded her to check her booking records as I had paid an additional £59.99 and had even supplied the additional booking reference to the front desk the previous day. Clearly in my view this lady 'manager' needs to adjust her own attitude for a successful career in hospitality.

Stayed 17th August 2024 for one night at a cost of £179 for a double room
Appreciate eastbourne air show was on that weekend although we didn't attend (we were at a wedding)
Woke up Sunday morning to a very cold shower is to much to ask for hot water at that price

Going by my travelodge star rating, I'd give this site 2 stars.
This site is in desperately need of a refurbishment. You can forget that snazzy looking room you see in the ads. The room I stayed in was well dated (see pics).
The only option for the lights was all, or nothing. There were no plug sockets near the bed, or USB charging ports anywhere in the room.
I found the bathroom to be "filthy", age related again. Given I was in a third floor room, in a hotel with no lifts, the number of grab rails in the bathroom seemed a bit odd. I hate to be infirm enough to need these and be in this third floor room.
Overall, I'd only stay here for one or two nights, max... And they'd have to be work related. This is not a hotel for a short break.

The evening before our visit we received an email advising that as we alongside a busy main road we could ask for a room at the back of the hotel and we were glad that we did. As the lodge has no air conditioning, and it was a very warm, humid, night, the electric fan provided was much appreciated although we were surprised that this was running when we arrived (10.40pm) and may well have been doing so for many hours since the room was made up. We were only expecting the basic essentials for a night's stay but everything necessary was provided and in good, clean, condition so no complaints although a bit pricy perhaps .

The staff are lovely, the room is clean, beds comfortable. The accessible wet room is excellent, nice powerful shower.
In summer the room is cool with a fan provided and in winter it's lovely and warm with an easy to use heater. Nice to control to suit myself.
Dogs are welcome too! Easy parking, nice area, quiet at night so a great sleep.
Toby carvery just opposite.

We tend to use Travelodge regularly, as you can usually guarantee a good night's sleep in their comfy beds. This time, we struggled: the curtains didn't fit properly, so the room was illuminated the whole night by the bright lights outside of Reception (where our accessible room was next door to). The pillows were very lumpy, which is unusual! But the reception staff were very pleasant, and we literally just needed a space to sleep for a few hours. This Travelodge really could do with a little bit of TLC/an update.

As I recall do not think it has air con, but the window does open.
Personally I would not walk it okay if you are really fit and enjoy walking but the roads are pretty busy
Yes there is a bus service also Just 5 min walk past Morrisons there is a railway station with trains into Eastbourne.
I think midday
