Welcome to the West Rocks Townhouse, Eastbourne. We are a 5 minute walk to the shopping centre and 200 meters to the theatres. We are ideally located on the best part of the seafront, near the pier, bandstand, stunning western lawns and the Martello Tower, all within easy reach. Many beautiful walks are just outside the hotel. All rooms are en suite and feature TV, and tea / coffee making facilities. Many rooms feature stunning sea views and views across the English Channel. All room prices are for Room Only. We do not provide Breakfast, Food or Bar but feel free to bring your own. Free Wi-Fi is available across the whole hotel. On-street parking is available outside the hotel, subject to availability. Parking vouchers can be brought from reception for £2 per day if you secure a space in the H Zone, which is a lot of the seafront and Howard Square (Beware the parking Bay directly outside the hotel is not an H Zone .

We visit Eastbourne every year and have stayed in a multitude of hotels over the year. I feel West Rocks deserves a special mention because of the amount of care an effort that has been put into it. First of all, even though it's an older builder it hasn't been left to rack and ruin and a lot of effort has been put into creating an atmospheric and unique decor throughout the hotel. We stayed in a family room with seaview which was very clean. We got a last minute deal on Booking.com and I was worried it was too good to be true. But I was wrong! Staff were friendly and couldn't do enough for us. There is no breakfast but they do supply a packed continental style breakfast which hit the spot. And actually takes away the pressure to eat a certain time, which I am not always in the mood for. The bed was very comfortable and I slept soundly the second night (the first night I forgot to close the window so got woken up by a noisy seagull, a rookie mistake in a seaside town!). I really enjoyed our stay and hope to return in future.

Lovely quirky hotel. Lots of rooms and corridors and an old Victorian lift. So friendly and hospitable, lots of free little snacks and a really tasty little continental breakfast in the morning. As my room was room only this was a lovely surprise.
My room, a small double, at the back of the hotel was very quiet and I had a great night's sleep in the very comfortable and spotless bed. Nice soft pillows. There was a minor issue with the shower in the morning but that was sorted very quickly and with grace.
Would I stay here again if I were working in the area? Absolutely, and I would highly recommend.

Me and my husband came down to Eastbourne to see family over the the air show week which we didn’t actually know about until we arrived but we had an amazing time. We received a very friendly welcome from Ellie the pretty blondie and Floyd the lovely black Labrador. We brought along our French bulldog Bruce and ellie always made an effort to say hello to him and give him a treat when we came in and out. The night staff were also very friendly when we would take him out during the night. The room came with a bed and dog treats as well as some sweeties for us which was a really nice touch. Such a pleasant experience for a weekend break at the seaside in Eastbourne. We received a very friendly welcome from Ellie (and Michael too) on reception. Car parking nearby was easy with the £2 voucher available from the hotel. A local map was provided with details of restaurants nearby offering discounts too. Very pleased with the allocated room with sea view and bath and shower, clean and comfortable bed and comfy chairs and coffee table too. Although they don't do cooked breakfast the goodie bag we received each morning was a lovely surprise. Certainly great value for the money and perfect location right on the front. Many thanks 👍

Absolutely love this hotel, so chilled and friendly, the staff are all so obliging, big shout out to the reception staff and maintenance who resolved a room issue very quickly. Loved Floyd the resident black Lab and the complimentary chocolate bars and sweeties, pool and table Tennis😄
The beds and pillows were so comfy, great nights sleep and lovely promenade and seaview from our room and the little quaint terrace outside the lounge area, a drinks fridge selling Wine, beer, cider and Prosecco and a lovely hot drinks machine with the best hot chocolate 😋
We will definitely be back soon.

Absolutely awful. I booked for one night and due to COVID I needed to reschedule my trip, however this hotel was not considerate at all. I was not allowed to change the date, I wasn’t allowed to cancel and get a refund. So, I now have lost the money for the room due to this.
They explained that any amendments needed to be made 48 hours prior to the booking date but things happen, which is fair enough as it is in the terms and conditions. However, I fell ill 24 hours prior, they could have made an exception due to this unforeseen circumstance. Absolutely disgusting, surely changing the date is the least they can do.
Will not be using this hotel ever again. I had booked here before and it was pleasant hence why I rebooked. But their lack of empathy towards this situation has put me right off.

Hello Leah, Thank you for your review. It's disappointing of course to read your review. You mention Covid on here but did not mention to us until after the declination, which by that time we couldn't alter the date. Also Terms & Conditions are there, for example if you had a flight or a theatre booking the result would be the same, so we are not quite sure why we would be treated differently. We obviously don't wish to appear confrontational, however your review, we feel, is unfair and unwarranted and will let the wider world judge.

The location was excellent directly on the seafront with great views. Also only 5 mins to Devonshire Park for the tennis.
We booked a ‘small’ double but were pleasantly surprised as it was larger than we expected.
Although the hotel doesn’t offer any food it had some nice little extras; a free breakfast bag (yogurt, croissant, juice etc), free snacks (biscuits and sweets).
You can also purchase wine and beer from a chiller in the lounge. Very welcome after a hard day at the tennis.😂
What made this stay extra special were the staff. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Particular mention to the young man on reception (sorry didn’t catch his name). He was so helpful and friendly.

While the staff are fairly friendly and welcoming, the quality of the food and accommodation is very poor. Limited choice and poorly cooked food was extremely disappointing and left diners needing to find take away and delivery services to make up for the minimal offering, The rooms are very basic with little heating and single glazed windows throughout the property making the rooms very cold at night. The showers are tiny and basic and there was no hot water on one day. The rooms are not kept clean during the stay and the overall decoration and maintenance of the rooms is extremely basic.
The location is great for the beach but this in no way makes up for the hotel's shortfalls. I would not stay here again

I don’t usually review our holidays but this place deseveres one . From the goodies when we checked in the quirky decor and friendly staff we couldn’t fault a thing . Special mention for ellie who was lovely and had a great sense of humour ! Conversation with her was so relaxed and not forced hospitality chat ! To anyone thinking of staying at west rocks make sure you ask reception for discounts leaflets and parking tickets which are so useful when in Eastbourne . Thank you west rocks hotel for a lovely stay , we will be back x

Considering the reviews for this hotel I was disappointed! £97 for a room that was dated , had a rubbish shower and curtains that didn’t cover the windows properly. Beds were average and sheets not stayed on properly. Lounge area no bar service. Key on a massive block of wood so unlocking and locking door was a pain. Noisy at night. We will not return .

Thank you for your review. Disappointing to read your review of us as you can imagine. Not our normal review as other reviews will attest. On your Booking.com review of us you have put that you thought we were a modern hotel and perhaps that would be the reason - we are a traditional, laid back friendly hotel built in 1879 and we clearly state we do not have a bar etc. In relation to the rate paid, that would be considered cheap for a 1 night on a Saturday in International Tennis Week, but we respect your point. Such a pain unlocking doors with a key I know :)
