The check in is later than standard, 4pm but I was offered an early check in from 1pm for only £10 more-well worth it! The hotel is in a brilliant location and having a sea view room was great especially as you could also see the pier and market from the room. Good vibes! There’s a fair few parking spaces. The room itself was large and airy and the bathroom had a shower over a bath which is so much better for me than shower only. There are no toiletries except little soaps so don’t pack light on that front. There was a large, mostly empty bar with a dodgy lounge singer -as is the long running tradition of UK seaside hotels. Having read other reviews, I didn’t risk the restaurant until breakfast the morning we left. This was wise! The service was bizarre-get your cereal/fruit and juice and then be seated (which just created queues) and then get served an extremely small and grim looking fry up. Scrambled eggs had obviously sat about for too long, half a tiny burned tomato and the smallest most overcooked fried slice ever. The veggie sausage was extremely unappealing. My meat eating friend couldn’t stomach the fatty bacon. Coffee and tea were also not to a great standard. Certainly worth the visit in good weather but take a short walk if you want decent food.

We stayed at this hotel as part of an Alfa travel holiday.

Firstly I would like to say that the hotel is in an excellent location, opposite the pier and only about 10 mins walk into town.

The hotel itself it quite tired and dated and this is obvious from the moment you walk in. However, it was clean and comfortable and you get what you pay for.

We had a sea view room on the 5th floor and being on the top floor was very quiet with no one above you. The view from our room was wonderful.

The room was very cold and despite turning the heating on full the room never really got warm. I think this is because there is no double glazing and so being right on the sea front the room gets drafty.

The room was huge and we had twin beds, which were very comfortable and the duvet was very warm so once in bed it was quite easy to get warm.

The bathroom was also very big and the water was nice and hot but the shower had next to no water pressure at all due to being on the top floor! Also no toiletries in the room so make sure you take shampoo, shower gel, etc, with you.

Food at breakfast and dinner was very nice with decent portion sizes but service was always very rushed. On first night I understood this as it was very busy but nights 2 and 3 there were only about 20 people in whole hotel yet it felt as though they were trying to get you in and out of restaurant as soon as possible!

I am gluten free and they provided me with gluten rolls and bread and even did me GF fish and chips on first night which I really appreciated.

The entertainment in the evening was somewhat of a let down. The lady who sang on the Sunday night was by far the best entertainment and she got everyone involved, had a great voice and put on such a good show. Unfortunately the 2 male entertainers on the Friday and Saturday night did not read the room and sing something different when it was obvious their songs were either not known, not liked or not lively enough.

Bar itself is small but the seating area is large with a lounge area with sofas and then tables and chairs round the dancefloor with a stage.

The staff throughout our stay were helpful and polite.

Overall I would say for the price paid this hotel was good. Great location, great views, clean with nice staff and good food.

Arrived early on a Sunday afternoon but didn’t expect to check in ( until 4 pm), just popped in to register the car in the car park. Greeted by a very unfriendly man who said we were early and place was busy! Fine: but a) no need to be surly and b) we didn’t want to check in as we were at the seaside! Regretted staying here from that moment! Luckily when we did return the 2 ladies on the front desk were lovely! Rooms here are tired, no air con or fan in the rooms. Rooms were clean though and tea/ coffee making facilities are a winner with us. Had a drink at the bar but you don’t have a view out from anywhere which is a shame as would have been nice to look at the sea. Sleep quality was poor, thankfully only there for a night. We had the window open due to the heat but the noise from the corridor of wind whistling around was terrible, our door didn’t seem to fit properly which didn’t help this. Bed was comfortable enough though. There are no toiletries provided except for a small soap per person. The shower head is fixed so if you don’t necessarily want to wash you hair it’s tricky to say the least, especially if you don’t take your own shampoo. Breakfast was included which was ok, cereal to start and then cooked English, please cook the egg yolks though! This hotel caters for coach holidays for the over 70’s so be prepared for this and for people to stare at you if you are under 65! Won’t visit again as Eastbourne isn’t for us.

My friend and I have just returned from a 4-night stay at the Queens Hotel, Eastbourne, with Alfa Travel. We had single rooms, each of which was spacious with shower cubicles in the bathroom. Both rooms had the wash basin in the main bedroom, which I found quite handy. The restaurant area is vast and the food was very nice. For evening meal, there was the option of three courses which catered for various dietary requirements. There was a nice selection of wines, served by the glass/bottle. Breakfasts were also very nice with choices of cereal fruit, juices, tea, coffee etc; and various combinations of cooked breakfasts. I'd like to give a special mention to our lovely waitress, Olympia, who looked after us throughout our stay. Olympia was always pleasant, professional and worked very hard. On 3 nights we had entertainment, which despite being mediocre (apart from Thursday 12th October singer) gave the entertainment room and bar area a good atmosphere. There was also Bingo in the interval. It is evident that the Queens Hotel has been very grand in its time and many original features remain throughout. We also noticed that it is geared to providing comfort and assistance for the disabled and/or the elderly. When next in Eastbourne, we would without doubt consider staying at this hotel again, which is conveniently located opposite the pier and the beautiful promenade. There are also shops nearby. Finally, I would like to thank Alfa Travel for their excellent organisation of this trip, and of course, the amazing value for money. Also a big thank you to our driver, Jack, who was very informative on the journey there and back and during our trips to nearby Hastings, Rye and Brighton. Jack kindly took us via the scenic routes, making the trip extra special.

Stayed for one night just to visit Eastbourne and surrounding areas.
Trying to park on arrival was interesting mainly due to other people inability to park!
Unfortunately checked in at the same time as a coach party of slightly older generation and fair play to the lady behind the desk who had a lot to deal with!!!
Room itself had a beautiful view of the pier and the sea, plenty of space in the room and could sit and look out the window with a cup of tea. Comfy bed and a massive bathroom with lovely tiling with looked new however………
Drawers had crumbs in . The bath room walls were beautifully tiled but the floor looked like it needed a good scrub as did the shower tray round the edges and the taps and toilet flush handle was covered in limescale type stuff and the toilet brush could have seen some bleach!
The hotel is obviously used to coach parties and their clientele, the bar and entertainment area was packed so didn’t use that as seemed very dated and not really our thing with bingo but people looked like they were enjoying themselves but probably not great if under a certain age!
Again dirty window sills noted as we walked down the stairs and carpet looked like it had done a lot of hard work. Place looks like work has started and maybe not finished but really needs a good clean and updating.
Breakfast was a let down however the staff were extremely polite, attentive and very busy however not a lot of choice of cold options, had to ask for milk and cooked breakfast was over cooked but served lukewarm. Toast came very quick but suspect it was wasn’t cooked fresh as was cold.
Would actually go back as had good night sleep but would go for the view, the parking which not available with all hotels and the size of the room but would like a bit more love and care taken to the place and would not pay for breakfast again.

Walked in the hotel and there was an air of faded grandeur…..I could cope with that. However, the bedroom was cheaply furnished and the bed ridiculously hard. It was also an airless room as couldn’t open a window. I slept hardly at all. However, this clearly wasn’t the case for everyone as I could hear someone snoring in an adjacent room! The blurb promised a trouser press. If there was one I didn’t find it.
There were no hooks for wet coats.
The bathroom was cheap and nasty. The handle on the cistern came off in my hand and the flush was too weak. The towels are good!
No toiletries in the bathroom. I note in another review that they are kept at reception. Surely then they could be handed over on check in? Also no glasses in bathroom.
The food….pretty disgusting. When I tell you that one of the starters was a small glass or orange juice and a main option was a jacket potato with beans, you can see what budget the hotel is playing with.
The staff are willing but not adequately trained in my view. I have no quibble with any of them,
Overall, a very bad experience. Position is fantastic but I think that’s all that’s going for this place. Badly in need to a face lift and new look.

We stayed at this hotel as Alfa customers. It's located right opposite the pier, and the town centre is an easy 10 minute walk away. The room was clean and tidy, with a TV and hair dryer supplied. We could pick up the free wifi despite being on the 5th floor. However, the heating in the room was not controllable and often resulted in the room being too hot. It didn't help that the window was difficult to open more than a few inches.

There's plenty of choice for breakfast, with the welcome addition of Marmite packets along with the usual jams/condiments.
Dinner was basically the same menu used by all Leisureplex hotels; however in this hotel we were offered one free drink each (cola or wine) with our meal in addition to the usual tea & coffee. Servers were good at offering alternatives should you not like anything on the main menu.

The hotel may be old, but the main public areas (dining room & entertainment room) were huge with impressive high ceilings and chandeliers.
Entertainment was the usual mixed bag of people singing/playing over pre-recorded backing tracks; some were better than others, but nothing to write home about. In between there is also Bingo every night.

Having just stayed for four days (fri-tues) at over £112.per night for twin sea view no meals included we found that they now do not supply shower gel or conditioner in the bath room, we were not a where of this and find it penny pinching of the most extreme. Last night 9 coaches were parked in the car park so they were not short of customers, but as you can not book rooms with the hotel directly because all bookings are now with agencies, and complaints were rife about rooms being not suitable to clients needs, mainly baths in rooms when a lot of the customers are not so mobile and getting in and out of a bath is very difficult. Over than minor problems the stay was very pleasent., and staff helpful.

When we arrived at the Queens Hotel, the check in was excellent, fast & no fuss. We had paid for a sea view room, it was well worth the money & no noise from the road outside. Breakfast was excellent, Hot & served very quickly, staff were first class, couldn’t do enough for us. Also evening meal choice was good, changed every day, so several choice of starter, main meal & also dessert. Again served Hot & very tasty. All in all, excellent value for money. Eastbourne is a brilliant place to visit, the sea front walks along the promenade are excellent. Loads of seating all along the full length of the promenade. Great cafe, with plenty of seating right at the end, takes about 20 minutes walk. Definitely would recommend the whole trip!!!

Queen's HOTEL EASTBOURNE
So dissapointed, this hotel is the same price as some of the more swish hotels. It was very clean but badly outdated and the bed was awful worst 2 nights non sleep time ever!
The bed seemed new but as it was a double in a kingsize gap I could not reach the light switches either side of the bed without getting up.
The toilet door was so close too the loo I walked into it more than once ( I have mobility issues) the lift was tiny for a 5 floor hotel. Breakfast served up really quick plates hot food cold dry and over cooked. Not one runny egg even poached eggs hard.
I will not be returning. The maid came so late in the day we told her not to bother as I was resting.
But drinks cheap and reasonable rum double with coke £4 so good, entertainment looked good but not to our taste, parts of our room were really shabby.

Never stayed anywhere this run down
