Detailed Reviews
It is fair to say that this must be at the very top of the many B&Bs at which we have stayed, over many, many years.
From the moment I first chatted to Howard about our requirements (ground floor and walk in shower, due to minor mobility issues) to leaving this morning, everything was top notch.
The room had a small balcony perfect for catching the late sun. There was a good size shower, quality towels and bedding, a small table and chairs.
Breakfast had plenty of choice, cereals and cooked.
The hosts, Howard and Catherine, recommended a local pub for dinner. A ten minute stroll. The Marine (see review) was very good, a wide range of dishes, so much so, we dined there every evening, and had a different dish every day.
Bassets is in a great location. A mile from the railway station, with easy free parking, and just outside the parking zone.
Being oldies we used the bus services to visit Hastings (bus stop a few yards from the B&B) and Brighton, needing just a simple change in town.
We would highly recommend this competitively priced B&B

The hospitality in this bed and breakfast is unique
The breakfast is second to none: fresh fruit salad, porridge, overnight oats with fruit, orange juice, freshly prepared pancakes
The rooms are lovingly furnished and mostly have a view of the sea
You can also look out over the glittering sea from the breakfast table

My mother and I stayed for 4 nights and couldn't be more pleased with our chouce of Bassets House. Catherine and Howard are attentive and friendly without being overbearing. Having never stayed in Eastbourne before we found Catherine's tips and recommendations invaluable. The breakfast choice is excellent. My Mother loved her full English whilst I had the vegetarian option. Catherine offered a vegan spread without any prompting or request. The room we had benefited from a balcony which overlooked the pretty garden (which will be even prettier in the Spring and Summer months). The standard of cleanliness is first class and our room had everything you could wish for - modern bathroom with walk in shower, good quality white towels, tea & coffee making facilities and supplies. The house is a period property and the decor is sympathetic whilst bright and comfortable. Even in October Eastbourne has a lot to offer and I would not hesitate to return to the town and Bassets House.

Me and my partner stayed at Bassets House B&B for 4 days in September 2020. We would like to thank the hosts, Catherine and Howard, for their fantastic hospitality. They were so friendly and kind. The B&B is in the perfect location on Eastbourne sea front. The B&B had all the hand sanitisers and procedures to comply with the Covid 19 restrictions. It was clean, quiet and the breakfasts were delicious. I would highly recommend staying at Bassets House if you are taking a trip to Eastbourne.

We are back from our 1st wonderful weekend break at Bassets House but wishing we were still there!
The house is spotlessly clean and the hosts Catherine and Howard are really nice, very welcoming and attentive.
Breakfast is to die for..in fact if I stayed more often I might well do as I ate my own bodyweight in food! 😁 seriously though, lots of choice and all fresh and tasty.
Hand sanitizer is at the front door and around the b&b and all social distancing rules are in place, staggered breakfast times and seating in various areas. We chose the dining balcony area which has a beautiful view of the seafront.
Totally reccomend..after working throughout lockdown it was the break we so needed.

We came to Eastbourne for a few days and again, stayed at Bassets house. Catherine and Howard’s aim is, to make their guests feel very home. When you choose this B&B you can be sure to get a very warm welcome, a delicious breakfast, a lovely room (they have different rooms, each one beautifully decorated) - everything for a nice time at the beach!
We recommend this B&B to everybody who wants to spend a great time.
Thank you Catherine and Howard, for a great time at your house.

Just got back from 2 nights at this charming guest house in a quieter part of Eastbourne beach front. Hosts Catherine and Howard are attentive and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. Spotlessly clean room and great breakfast in the pretty breakfast room. We were concerned initially about staying in a hotel but they pay meticulous attention to complying with the COVID 19 recommendations and we were not compromised in any way. Guest select a time for breakfast so distancing can be maintained.hand sanitisers at the entrance, inside the hallway and in the breakfast areas.

My first time in the UK and my friend who I was travelling with, and her daughter wanted to go to the southern coast. They chose this B&B in Eastbourne, and it was a wonderful choice. The hosts Catherine and Howard are wonderful and make you instantly feel at home. Their home is lovely. It is tastefully decorated, and our room was spacious and comfortable for 3 people. Our windows looked out over Royal Parade Street which meant we had a great view of the promenade, the beach and the North Sea. Breakfast (provided by our hosts) was one of our favorite parts of each day. It was obvious that our hosts love their home and love sharing it. They also love the town of Eastbourne. They shared many suggestions for us to do during our stay. We had a really super time and I look forward to going back.

Good value for money. Hosts were very welcoming, Howard’s breakfasts set us up for the day and were delicious, Catherine is great craic. We managed to find free street parking easily enough just around the corner and there are a couple of disabled parking spaces almost opposite. Enjoyable stay.

Such lovely hosts and so welcoming. Gorgeous seaview room (view pictured) and tasty cooked breakfast. The B&B is in a great location with easy access to the town and literally on the seafront. Couldn't fault a thing about this accommodation and will definitely return. Thank you Catherine and Howard.

Hi - Just to confirm, there is plenty of free on street parking at this end of the promenade ( east of the pier ). but because Airborne is busy, it's best to leave the car during the day once you have a space. We do still have rooms available for airborne days. Regards. Howard, Bassets House.
