Located on a driveway off the main road, this small beach hotel seems to have one of the best spots, close to the winner supermarket, little snacks, the gorgeous Thai restaurant.

As soon as we arrived, we got in our room , the benitier suite, where some tropical flower arrangements greeted us. The receptionist booked our first dinner which saved us the hassle of finding one on our arrival day. Breakfast every day was simply superb, brought to our room terrace. the egg Benedict though took time was worth the wait. Nothing was too much for the waiter, from extra coffee to extra toasts. We did not experience any issues as in the previous reviews.

Our package also included water sports, ski which we thoroughly enjoyed.

Overall The service has been wonderful, thanks to Jennifer at the reception who constantly looked after us daily.

We also had a dinner on the beach, with a four course meal. Mauritian fusion cuisine seems promising. Although slightly pricey, it was worth it.

Our four night stay was definitely too short. We will return and recommend to our friends.

Initial impressions of the room were very good - large, well furnished with modern but comfortable decor. However from there on things went down. First of all the breakfast which was brought in from another building (once taking 40 minutes to reach us). The eggs were stone cold and many items on the menu were not available. On one one morning we were given a chipped and very dirty milk jug. All this served on a dirty and stained table cloth.
It took us some time to work out how to work the tv and guidance would have been helpful. The shaver socket in the bathroom did not work and the peculiar light intensity button beside the bed did not work either, leaving us with over bright lighting and without individual bedside lamps.
We found the staff fairly helpful (although the receptionist went off duty at 5 p.m.).
Our overall impression was that in spite of the staff attempting to provide a service they were poorly trained and, above all, poorly supervised.
One unexpected bonus was the great variety of birds walking across the scrubby grass to share our breakfast.
The hotel definitely fails my return test - no, I would not go back. A pity because it has great potential.

First of all, it is not a hotel. It is a wonderful luxurious inn in perybere near grand baie. Mauritius is a huge island and every part is far from onether. The airporr is more than an hour from wherever.
But mauritius is one of the most marvellus islands in the world!!!
You have marvellous beaches, different cultures, temples and the speak french! Could you imagine anything better?
Ocean beauty is a small inn with very nice touches.
Rooms are very well equipted, ours had a full kitchen thar we used cooking an octupus ( buy it in the local market), molton brown toiletries ( including lip balm) and a nice veranda.
Breakfast is a la carte and Prakash was a lovely waiter always looking for you. I really miss the vanilla and papaya marmalade!!! It is true that you have breakfast in room but who doesn t like it?
They gave us a free dinner because of our long stay and despite thar it was scheduled for a fix day the changhe the day because it was my birthday...wonderful touch.
Yes the hotel beach is not the best, but you have many excursions to wonderful beaches.
Accomodation in mauritius is very expensive but ocean beauty offers a very good value at affordable rates.
We also bought to the hotel a excursions package at a cheap price. We loved dear island!! Do not miss it.
I do not want tp forget that our rome was full of flowe petals at check in and the last night.
If you want a wonderful lovely inn this is your place!

Stayed at Ocean beauty last October as part of our honeymoon. And I have to say i was not that impressed with this hotel. We booked it through our travel agent who also helped me organise our wedding in Mauritius. We also booked many of our guests in their sister hotel Ocean Villas. My maid of honour and her partner had booked to stay at Ocean beauty for 2 nights and when we got there they were told that their rooms were no longer available. They had over booked and given them to longer staying customers which I found quite unprofessional. They tried to palm off Ocean Villas to them instead but my friends were having none of it. So they and my agent (who did regular business with the hotel) went to talk with the manager and was first kept waiting for a long time and ten told that there was nothing they could do. In the end the management offered them another hotel which sounded nice but then when my friends got there, they had been allocated a bad room by the road. So they were not impressed at all. A big mess really. And my agent who had worked with them for a long time will, after this experience, NO longer be working with them anymore!
This was quite worrying as we were supposed to stay at Ocean Beauty for the 2nd part of our honeymoon. Luckily they hadn't changed our reservation and on arrival we were escorted to the make shift reception are where we had to wait a while for check in. Then got to our room and although the room was large, the quality is drab! Not fully clean, just superficially. I think the branding of itself as a luxury boutique hotel is over rated. It's more like a wannaby one and more like a B&B. Talking of breakfast, you get breakfast on your balcony because they do not have a restaurant but every morning I asked for various things on the menu and they didn't have stock of most of it. All they had was cereal and bread. Oh and eggs but I would not recommend it as they were kind of disgusting.
Beach there is not nice and I would recommend you make use of the much nicer public beaches in Grand bay area.
Overall, I was not impressed at all and I think it's trying to be something it is not.

After being back in the cold Denmark for a while, we are asking ourselves, if it was just a wonderful dream being so lucky to stay in the Ocean Beauty for 14 days. But no, it was actually true and it has been our best holiday ever. We have never been so spoiled and pampered by any hotel. The place is very relaxed and cosy – it is home away from home!

Before booking a hotel in Mauritius, we took a long time checking out a lot of hotels out, reading reviews looking for the best. We were going to Mauritius in order to celebrate our cobber wedding and we wanted this holiday to be perfect. We found everything we were looking for in Ocean Beauty. Everything described on Ocean Beauty’s website is true and in reality even better. We were looking for a small hotel where you could feel “at home” and that is exactly what you do in Ocean Beauty. When we entered the room the first day it was beautifully decorated with flowers all over and there were candles and fresh fruit as well. What a great start.

Ocean Beauty is a boutique hotel with 5 suites and 4 rooms. We stayed in the Carlet suite and had the most beautiful view over the garden and the Indian Ocean – and we were also so lucky that we could see the sunset from our large balcony. The room was beautifully furnished in warm, wonderful colors and had everything you needed from hairdryer to iron and ironing board as well as beach towels. There is a refrigerator, a microwave and coffee/tea facilities in an extra room and the coffee/tea/sugar was filled up every day. They furnish you with bath robes and slippers as well as shampoo and bubble bath cream. The bathroom is large with a separate toilet, a very large shower and a large spa. You can enjoy world music when doing whatever you do in a bathroom.

The breakfast is a chapter by itself. You can choose to have it on the beach or on your balcony. You have a large menu card to choose from. We can especially recommend the egg Benedict with the blue marlin. It is just a dream :o)

We had booked 3-course dinners on alternate nights and every meal was excellent. During our stay we didn’t get the same course once and we really enjoyed to be eating a lot of fish, but there was always steak/chicken/lamb as well. Often the courses looked like art when presented on the table and always on a white table cloth. Sometimes there is live music during dinner. We were fortunate enough to enjoy several different guitarists/singers. The first night the guitarist even came to our balcony and sang for us. What a great surprise! The dinner as well can be enjoyed on your balcony or on the beach.

In the very nice open lobby you find the reception, a computer with internet access for the guests as well as a free bar. There were many nice surprises. Sometimes when lying on the beach, the cook came at lunch time with a little snack like for instance marlin or fruit as a compliment from the management and one day they arranged a barbecue.

The Ocean Beauty is very well run. The garden is wonderful with many different beautiful flowers, palms and trees and birds. There is a gardener on duty every day. The swimming pool is large with a Jacuzzi and sitting there you enjoy the view over the Indian Ocean. The private beach is really nice and cosy with sunbeds, umbrellas and sitting areas. There is a door in the garden wall, which takes you right into the Indian Ocean with only a few steps to the public beach – wonderful!

The hotel offers you free trips with a glass bottom boat, waterskiing and banana ride once a week, which is a great idea. The glass bottom boat takes you to the reef for snorkeling if you want to. Try it!

There is a security guard on duty around the clock, which makes you feel safe in your own little world. It doesn’t mean that you should feel unsafe when leaving the hotel. The hotel is situated only a few hundred meters from the small village of Pereybere where you can find everything you need from good restaurants to small shops and exchange possibilities. There is a supermarket situated just across the street from the hotel. If you want to go to a bigger town you just take the bus to Grand Baie. It takes about 10 minutes. Grand Baie is a busy town, where you find a market with around 200 shops. You can make a really good bargain there.

We think that it is a must to go to the capital, Port Louis, with its beautiful waterfront and a lot of historic sites and really interesting and amazing architecture. You will find an ordinary market as well as a craft market, China Town and many different shops. You can take the bus from Pereybere, but we chose to be taken by Ocean Beauty’s driver, Deepak – and what a good idea. Before dropping us off in downtown, Deepak drove us to the citadel above Port Louis, where you have the most beautiful view over the city and the mountains.

We went on a one day trip to Ile aux Cerfs – an island on the east coast arranged by the hotel. It was a wonderful day. We went with 8 other guests from the sister hotel Ocean Villas and drove along the coast to the south west side of the Island. From there we went by speed boat to the most beautiful waterfall, then to a bounty land beach and thereafter to another beach where we had a great barbecue with among other things – grilled lobster. Go there!!

We went on a trip to the South West part of the island. Again we booked the hotel’s driver, Deepak. It was an unforgettable day and such an advantage to have a personal guide giving us so much interesting information. We visited a glass blowing factory using recycled glass, Le Port Pirate factory making handcrafted ship models, the extinct volcano at Trou aux Cerfs, the Hindu holy lake and temple at Grand Bassin, the Black river Gorges and the Alexandra Falls, the seven coloured earths at Chamaral, which is absolutely amazing. There was also time for some shopping.

We could go on and on telling about all the good things you can do. A lot of the time we just enjoyed life on Ocean Beauty’s beach, which was so peaceful and relaxing.

Last but not least, we can’t thank the staff in Ocean Beauty enough for making our holiday so wonderful. Jennifyr and Natalie in the reception, who were always there for us when we needed it. Vikesh, Ocean Beauty’s waiter, who served our breakfast and dinner, and always had time for a little talk and good information. Deepak, Ocean Beauty’s driver for being so kind and for taking us to wonderful places and telling us a lot about Mauritius. The security guards, who were so kind and helpful – always with a smile, the gardener for making the garden so beautiful and the beach so inviting, the cleaners for making our room so nice to stay in and the cook for creating nice dishes. Thanks to everybody for making our holiday the best ever!!!

Also thanks to the management for running such a great hotel. You are doing a wonderful job, and we really hope to come back one day!

Tom & Merete

Ocean Beauty is a small boutique hotel. First of all, do not come here if you are a package holiday, all inclusive pleb that cannot think for themselves.

Ocean Beauty is a serene place of calm and relaxation. It is many miles from the airport and it takes around an hour and a half to get here from the airport. But that is one of the reasons we chose to come here. You don't find beautifull places away from the masses without getting off the beaten track slightly!

We came to ocean beauty to get married and could not have chosen a more perfect and serene place to exchange our vows. All the staff are very friendly and helpfull but not intrusive of your privacy or intamacy. Joelle and Alexandra dealt with all the details leading up to and on the big day, making the day perfect for us. We didn't need to worry about anything. Just relax and enjoy our big day in paradise.

Right from arrival, you are felt welcome and you get a very personal service. We chose to come in April/May because it was off season. The whole island is quieter, more relaxed, cooler and less humid (but still sunny and warm) and out of the rainy season. It is the perfect time of year to visit Mauritius and made Ocean Beauty even more intimate as it was only half full.

It is worth booking a suite as they are lovely. We booked a garden suite but could still see the sea through the tropical garden. They have managed to create a very relaxing atmosphere here. With the coi carp pond, the Bose sound system playing chilled background music (you can even switch it on in your bathroom and the underwater speakers in the pool are really cool) and flowers and candles on arrival and special occiasions are really nice.

Other great points are: free wifi, free computer to use Internet, free bar, private dining on the beach or your own terrace every other night and every breakfast.

Meals at the hotel only on alternate nights is great because you can go out to experience the local restaurants and are not tied to being stuck in a hotel every night. The food at the hotel is, however excellent.

As we'd booked over a week in a suite, we got the love at 1st sight package added for free. Which meant more pampering: massages on the beach, private boats to go snorkelling, sunset boat trip (although this was a speedboat and the local lad driving it decided to go full throttle which was most amusing and we missed the sunset but it was hilarious nonetheless)

The private beach is held in by an 8 foot high retaining wall but steps take you right down into the sea. There is a small secluded public beach off to one side. Which you will have to paddle in the sea to get to. But it is lovely and we had most of our wedding pictures taken there. From the private beach. It's raised position is the perfect place to kick back and watch the most beatifull sunsets.

Worth noting that yes you do see insects and bugs at the hotel, but as someone said earlier, this is part of nature and Mauritius is a tropical island. What do you expect?

So, this hotel is perfect for romantic couples, who have a mind of their own and like to travel their own way and get away from the masses.

It is not suitable for yobs, louts, groups, families, or package holiday plebs. If you are one of these then don't come here as you won't like it and you will spoil the perfect serene atmosphere for those that appreciate it for what it is.

Alasdair and Jessica

Stayed here 4 nights in September and was really pleasantly surprised - we wanted to get away from the dictatorship of 'dressing-up' at the all-inclusive resorts, but were not sure how this would compare. Rooms were spacious, clean and very comfy and the staff were faultless.
Just one gripe- we chose to have the traditional Mauritian meal one night on our own balcony and wanted to drink our own wine - we were told the corkage fee would be about 20€ or we could buy their wine at 24€! So we didn't bother. The meal was lovely but the wine was sadly missing.

The restaurant next door ,'Sea Lovers ', has excellent food, but it is pricey and make sure you check the bill(for those little 'extras'). Also, the owner (?) is very pushy and maybe would do well to leave his customers to enjoy their meal in peace.

We took the big 'cat' trip to Islot Gabriel in the north one day and cqn quite honestly say it was one of the best trips of my life- wonderful crew, and excellent snorkelling- we saw all sorts of fish and a reef shark - brilliant! we booked at a little place just opposite 'Sea Lovers'.

Ocean Beauty is a small hotel located in Pereybere which is about 5 -10 mins drive from Grand Baie. The property itself is really small...but well set out to try to get the most from the limited space!!

We had a deluxe room with an ocean view.....really beautiful view out over the pool to the ocean. The staff were very helpful and friendly, however there seemed to be quite a few occasions when we couldn't seem to find anyone in reception when we needed to ask a question about something which we found a bit frustrating!!

It would probably be helpful on checking in to be told information such as reception opening hours (on Sundays they only stay open til 4, 4:30pm) and an information booklet in the room with suggestions for activities such as boat trips, horseriding, water skiing etc would be really helpful as theres not much info at all in reception (and the reception people weren't around to ask!!).

Other things to be aware of is that there are limited restaurants in Pereybere itself and the walk into Grand Baie is a bit far and can be dangerous due to the crazy drivers and bits where there is no shoulder to get off onto when a car passes. Also very dark at night....we tried!!

The hotel also didn't seem to have any free water sports which was a shame....just a couple of kayaks and some snorkelling equipment would really enhance the stay i think, seeing as many other hotels offered this and that you are out of town.

The rooms were nice and spacious and very well set out. The rain shower was great...and we loved the kitch swimming pool which played music underwater!! very funny!! there was also a switch which played relaxing music in your room which was nice too.

The best thing about this accommodation was definately the breakfasts...you could order as much you liked off the menu and then it was served either on your balcony or on the beach...the staff member who served the breakfast was really really good...very friendly and also tried to serve the food quickly.

Ocean Beauty is everything its website promises and a little bit more. The rooms are luxurious, the staff helpful and the location perfect. Pereybere is a lovely seaside village with some great places to eat out. Don't come here if you want to be in the hub of activity or for an exciting night-life, but if you're looking to relax and get away from it all, this place is paradise.

We arrived at the airport in early in morning - thinking we might save a few pennies we thought we'd get the local bus instead of a taxi. In the end heat, exhaustion and better judgement caused us to bargain with a taxi driver and he took us straight to the hotel for 1300 MUR. Later in a hol we used the local buses which was a fantastic but very slow experience.... it was definitely a great decision to get a taxi to the hotel which turned out to be over an hours drive.

We were lucky enough to be allowed straight into our room which was great even though check-in was much later in the day.

The rooms are spacious enough with a luxurious bathroom. The pool and sun loungers are great. And the room service breakfast a feast every morning. A couple of nights we bought food to eat back at the tables in the resort by the beach - the best position for an evening meal in the whole of Mauritius...!

The service is really good and we were often brought snacks and cocktails "on-the-house" when we were lazing by the pool. The beaches on northern Mauritius are ok but not wide and the sand is a little course. The snorkelling off Pereybere is ok, quite a few fish and the coral is suprisingly good, but the visibility wasn't great.

Having taken a cycle ride around the coast and also walking through Pereybere and Grand Baie I believe that Ocean Beauty must be the best resort in its price range. Its location is unsurpassed and it's great because there are only 9 rooms so it's never overcrowed or noisy.

September was also a great time to visit as it's shoulder season and so not very busy at all (only 3 couples staying at Ocean Beauty) and the weather is still hot enough for sun-bathing (but not so hot you cook...!).

All in all an absolutely fantastic holiday, couldn't ask for any more for a honeymoon.... other than a few more weeks...

We stayed at Ocean Beauty for 13 nights in July and thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the hotel. I wasn't as blown away by it when we first arrived as I had hoped, probably because I had read too many great reviews and nothing was a surprise! But I was won over as our stay went on by the relaxing surroundings and particularly by the consistency of the good service and attention to detail.

We arrived early in the morning and, as expected, couldn't check in immediately (early checkin would have cost a full night's rate, which I think is a shame considering the hotel was nowhere near full, but of course the management is entitled to enforce this - it would just be great service not to). We were shown a shower room where we could change and our luggage was stored for us while we relaxed by the pool until we could check in.

We had a Garden Suite (called Anemone) and it was beautiful. The view was only over reception and the fish pond, and judging by the size of the terrace it was narrower than most of the other suites, but it did have a kitchenette, which was an unexpected bonus and very handy. The room was large and comfortable and the bathroom enormous with a lovely big bath that I could even share with my 6'5" boyfriend. It was great to come in from swimming in the late afternoon and warm up in the bath with a drink.

Breakfast was fantastic, as has been reported many times. Every afternoon that we were by the pool we were brought some sort of snack, and on a number of evenings champagne and snacks were delivered to our room, and they were delicious. I really enjoyed the food served at our "romantic dinner" although there was far far too much of it - and we are not light eaters. We didn't appreciate being serenaded as we ate, but we're unusual - I'm sure most people would find it very romantic.
What I really loved was that the service was consistently fantastic. Because it's a small hotel, we saw the same staff members all the time, and also probably because it's small, the room was always serviced at the same time in the morning unless we were in the way, in which case it was done as soon as we left. All members of staff were friendly without being at all intrusive, leaving us to enjoy each other's company.

We had stayed in Pereybere before and really like the village and the beach. We went into Grand Baie for dinner twice but otherwise ate locally and found the food cheap and good. The location of the hotel right on a (small) beach is very nice, with lovely views from the pool area. The snorkelling right in front of the hotel was great and the water, even in winter, was warm enough, although the pool was freezing.

We were there to relax and spend most of our time lying by the pool reading books or in the sea snorkelling. We did do the excursion package offered by the hotel and found the trips to be of high quality with a great driver.

By the way, we had perfect weather for all except about one day and one morning when there was some drizzle. We swam on these days anyway. Otherwise sunny and temperatures in the low 20s - but felt warmer - every day. Plenty warm enough for swimming and sunbathing and sometimes hot enough to jump into the very cold pool.

Overall we were very impressed with the hotel and would happily go back, although next time I think we would shell out for a suite with an ocean view. If you like small hotels and peace and quiet as we do, I would highly recommend this hotel to you.
