Hotel Oleana is celebrated for its excellent central location, allowing guests convenient access to Bergen's attractions and dining options. While the hotel's value receives mixed reviews, many praise its eclectic decor and amenities. The staff's friendliness and helpfulness stand out, despite occasional staffing shortages. Room experiences vary, with some guests admiring the spaciousness and design, and others finding them small or problematic. The hotel's artistic atmosphere and cleanliness consistently earn high marks, as does the varied and tasty breakfast, though it can be busy.

We stayed 3 nights before and 2 nights after our Hurtigruten trip. The staff is amazing, especially Karolina. They were helpful in several ways, including helping us get the pillows needed for a good night's sleep and directing us to health care and shopping needs. The breakfast was great. The location is perfect- a short walk from the train station, the docks and all of the fun sites we visited. We didn't need any extra transportation. The hotel is updated and beautiful. We highly recommend it.

The best things about this hotel are its location and the breakfast spread!
Located right in the center of town and a 5 minute walk from the harbour, this is a great base to explore Bergen. The rooms are on the smaller size which is no issue, however one side of the building has so much noise at night from outside, we didn't sleep a wink. So make sure you ask for a quiet room if you're a light sleeper. We complained the next morning and were moved with no issues.

The pillows are awful, so lumpy and uneven. Every single one of them in both rooms. Not sure why places find it so hard to just have good quality firm pillows!

The breakfast spread was a feast for the eyes, probably one of the best by far and I've seen LOTS! There's no way you would struggle for choice here.Their restaurant also served great Mexican food, some of the best I've tasted. The only thing I would suggest to change, is the choice in awful music continually played in the lobby/restaurant area. Slow, dreary and depressing drivel. How about some upbeat cheery music management!!!

After a harrowing experience at another competing hotel in Bergen two weeks earlier, I was delighted to stumble upon the Oleana. From the moment I walked up to the front desk and engaged with the delightfully friendly receptionist, things went very well. Her parking instructions were a breeze and the hotel got me a 15% discount on the garage’s overnight rate. The room was a beautiful rich purple color with very comfortable furniture, mattress and a great view of the pretty square in front of the hotel. The breakfast buffet was tasty and a welcome start to my day. Lastly, the location in a beautiful part of the city’s historical central core was perfect for exploring numerous great restaurants and visiting attractive nearby shops. I would love to come back and stay longer.

As a last minute booking we were so lucky to find this wonderful Boutique hotel right in the centre of Bergen town.

We took the light rail from the airport direct to Bergen. We were happy to find that with our big suitcases it was an easy short walk from the end of rail to the hotel.

The hotel looked lovely from the outside and a treat on the inside with funky, fun and cosy decor. We had booked a room big enough for a roll in bed for our teenage daughter. There was a double bed for us which was so comfortable, table & chairs seating area, desk, TV, phone, kettle tea & coffee, glasses, hair dryer & safe. The shower room was clean and well designed with complimentary shampoo conditioner & handsoap, and the water was drinkable and was instantly lovely and warm for showering. It was so comfortable it became our little home for four days whilst we took in the delights of Bergen. It is perfectly situated being in the center of town with easy access to all the major attractions including shops, fish market, bus, light rail, train, funicular, ferry & excursions.

We had breakfast included and we started the day with the most amazing meal with choices of continental. Scandinavian & cooked breakfast. A big thank you to the lovely young lady that took care of us each morning with a cheery smile and something lovely to say each morning. You made us so welcome which would be one of the main reasons we would return again in a heartbeat.

What a lovely hotel and staff made us so welcome. Thank you. Hope to see you again soon.

The good:
Centrally located
Great comfortable rooms with excellent shower
Helpful and friendly staff
Fabulous breakfast with plenty of choice
Evening meals are freshly cooked to order but menu is limited but still great food
Very close to Bryggen (walking distance)
Very good public transport especially from airport but you must download the Skyss app
Tourist and local shops open until late.

The not so good:
No evening meals on Sunday or Monday but there are many options locally.
Friday and Saturday nights can be noisy from the street as there are night clubs in vicinity ( but no different to other city locations)
Towel hangers to close to toilet but we used coat hooks in room ( there is always a solution)

The bad:
Nothing

We would highly recommend this hotel.

I loved this hotel. It was so comfortable and clean and cozy and unique. The lighting, the decor, the furniture - it was all just lovely. The bathroom was modern with great water pressure. The room was tight as usual in Europe but comfortable - we had a double bed room with a nice view and room for two suitcases. There was also room to hang a few items. The bed and linens were comfy and there were bedside tables with outlets. The TV was large and well placed. The breakfast was very good and varied and there was even outdoor seating - great for people watching. The hotel was small so very easy to get around and never felt crowded. Nice big elevator that you never waited for and even a little rental umbrella stand - this came in very handy one rainy evening - totally worth $2! The location was amazing - on a beautiful street with tons of restaurants but also totally quiet - and a 5 minute walk to the waterfront (Bryggen). It was pricey but you get what you pay for.

The room was big and the furniture was of a high quality, but the bathroom was really small. When I ordered the Deluxe-room I was hoping that this would give me a bigger bathroom to relax in, but I believe my bed was bigger than the bathroom (and the bed was of a normal size).

The room itself was very nice with a very comfortable bed, nice furniture and a view to the streets outside. The TV however was old and malfunctioned by the sound falling out after about 20-30 minutes of watching. It also could not cast movies from the phone to the TV, which is disapointing in this modern age.

Not functionable TV, no netflix or youtube only boring Norwegian TV.
Room service was good, great breakfast and dessert.
Rooms aren’t exactly as it shows on website,
Didn’t felt like it was worth over 300 euros per night when you had to watch a movie on your phone.

We had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Oleana twice recently, once in July and again in August. Here’s our review based on our experiences:

Location
The hotel boasts a fantastic central location, making it convenient for exploring Bergen's many attractions. It’s an ideal spot for both tourists and business travelers.

Breakfast
The breakfast at Hotel Oleana is exceptional, both in terms of quality and variety. It offers a wide range of delicious options to suit all tastes. A special mention goes to the friendliness and service orientation of the staff, who made our mornings even more pleasant.

Rooms
The rooms at Hotel Oleana are undeniably stylish, visually appealing, and impeccably clean. However, we did find the standard rooms to be quite small for two people with suitcases. The wardrobe is extremely tiny, necessitating living out of a suitcase, which is almost impossible given the lack of space to leave even one suitcase open.

Additionally, one of our rooms lacked the ability to open a window or control the temperature or airflow, which was quite inconvenient.

Overall
Despite the many positive aspects, including the excellent service, stylish decor, and outstanding breakfast, the issues with room size and ventilation cannot be overlooked. Therefore, we must deduct two points for these reasons. However, Hotel Oleana still remains a good choice for those prioritizing location and service.
