Hotel's Favourite
Hotel was really well located in the city centre. The check in is self check in through a machine at the entrance, enter your details, pay by credit card and your keys appear! Check out is the same way. They donât clean your rooms unless you ask them to and you need to ask for new towels but staff are very friendly and happy to do so. They also provide a room kettle, and they have a kitchen area in the entrance of the hotel where you can use disposable cutlery, plates and cups that can hold warm water. The room showers (waterfall and standard) were nice and rooms spacious. There was air conditioning but it doesnât make the room very cool and isnât that powerful. Overall a good place to come with family, no issues and a good nights sleep. Would come again

Stayed for 2 nights. I had read about the concept before so knew what to expect.
The hotel is very well located, close to the main railway station, bus stops and an easy block from the tram that takes you to the airport.
Check in/out is done through a machine, there is no front desk or concierge. My room was modern and clean with a double bed, desk area and bathroom with standing shower. As explained in their website, the hotel offers a low-cost model so rooms don't have toiletries, mini fridge, TV or in-room safe. Daily cleaning is not included either.
Common spaces were nice and had lounging areas with TV, vending machines, microwave and fridge. There is a bar attached to the hotel as well.
Overall, this is a good option if you don't plan to spend a lot of time in the hotel and are just looking for a budget-friendly place to rest your head after a full day of exploring.

We stayed for 4 nights and the hotel exceeded our expectations. On booking, we went for a small double room knowing that it was just a base to sleep and be out all day so it was fine if it was a little on the small side. But the room was much more spacious than expected. The bed was surprisingly big as well and very comfortable! There are a good amount of hooks in the room to hang coats, umbrellas and bags after the day and hangers to store more clothing. The bathroom was spacious and had a nice rain shower that was perfect after long days of walking and exploring Bergen. There is a little rooftop deck available on level 5 which has a nice view out to houses and trees. Check in and check out was simple to do on the terminals and the luggage storage available was easy to access. A great, affordable stay in a convenient location - would definitely stay again.

Practical, comfortable and very warm. It's true that they don't make your room every day or change your towels, but stretching a duvet cover takes two minutes and if you need another towel you ask for it and they give it to you without any problem. In our case we stayed 4 nights and on two of the days they came in to empty the bins, change the towels and on one of them they changed the sheets. The dining room/kitchen is very useful too. There is a very complete supermarket opposite and a family pizzeria around the corner. In the refrigerator everyone leaves their bag indicating the room number and the day of checkout. There is also an umbrella rental machine and a room with a washing machine and dryer (50 crowns = 5 euros) in case you get soaked with so much rain. Very well connected, next to the train and bus station, 10 minutes walk to the center and tram stop 500m away. The last day we discovered a store in front of the station with food from all over, Global Food, a shame not having seen it before, look for it if the supermarket is closed, it opens on holidays. And finally, I recommend the âcityboxfriendsâ option when booking because apart from getting a better price, they give you late checkout until 2:00 on the last day and you can take advantage of the morning with peace of mind. By the way, we got a surprise when we checked in, they upgraded us in one of the rooms, we had booked a single and they upgraded us to a double with more space because we were âfriendsâ, I imagine there would be availability. I would repeat if I return.

The hotel has good location, is practical with simple, but nice and clean rooms, but there is no air. The min temp on the thermostate in the room is set to 21,5 C, and the windows canât be opened. When complaining I was given a small electric fan with a noise level of a medium tram. Nice hotel if you like to sleep in a sauna and you think saving on electricity is someone elseâs problem.

Before I start, itâs obvious this isnât a luxury hotel- if you want a romantic or luxurious stay in Bergen, this may not be the hotel for you, BUT, this hotel does offer comfort and unbelievable value considering what youâd pay for other places to stay in Bergen. Our rooms were comfortable and even though they were basic they did the job! We werenât dispensed keys when we check in, but help came straight away! The supermarket was right across the road and super convenient. The best thing is the location! 15 minutes walk from The centre and easy to find when we eventually arrived in Bergen really early in the morning.

I had heard about CityBox for a long time, and when I finally visited Bergen, the city where CityBox had seen the light of day, I was looking forward to evaluating what had been presented to me as "the fusion between a hostel and a design hotel."
This evaluation turned out very favorably. Admittedly, I should have brought my own toothbrush mug. It was an oversight that annoyed me. Hotels usually have such to offer, and they are often useful, for instance as a drinking glass for water or other drinks. But here they are deprioritized.Â
My only material complaint is that I was upgraded to a (small) double room. Now, as I don't know what the single room would have looked like, maybe I'm complaining for no reason. Perhaps this room really was better than a single room. But the space between the bed and the wall was woefully narrow.  On both sides!  And on one side, the wall doubled as The Closet, with knobs to hang your clothes on, which you easily got stuck in when passing (see pictures!).  So I do believe that I would probably have appreciated a single room even more.
Because appreciate it, I did! The offer was basic, very basic, but stylish! And the double bed was large.
The room was quiet, meticulously cleaned and gave the impression of being newly renovated.
The shower was comfortably large in a comparably spacious bathroom. Shower gel was provided (but no hand soap at the sink).
A 24/7 present host (not receptionist) is a perfect solution which I appreciate very much. Checking in with an automate, indoors, is, in my opinion, thriftier and at least as good as having a night porter. And if an error occurs, the host is not far away.
(An error did actually occur in my case. Upon arrival, the machine argued that I had not yet been assigned a room. But thanks to the host, this was soon resolved. It's a much better service than having a callcenter far away.)
The price appears to be set "dynamically" (as with the airlines). To some extent it is so with all hotels, but here it seems to be systematic.Â
Fine with me! But it's a complication when planning a trip, because one has to take into account that the price varies from night to night. In my case, I could choose days so I got a surprisingly low cost for the room, and instead spend more on the horrifically expensive food in Norway.

Me, my partner and our 22 year old son came for 3 nights. As it was February we got a good deal and were able to get a separate room for my son rather than a family room as it was a lot cheaper than it would have been in the summer. Pretty straight forward to get to from the airport, we took the light rail (Bybanen), we nearly missed a train as we were trying to work out where our tickets were once we'd paid on the machine on the platform - but it just saves onto your credit/debit card which then becomes your ticket. And anyway, there was another in 10 mins (this was 8.15pm). Hotel is about a 7-8 minute walk from the Nygard stop , get off the train, cross to the left and walk up to the street on your left. Checking in was easy, just type in your code sent by email in the entrance or if you've forgotten it you could just put your email in. It's a small entrance, you can't open the door til you type in the code, so if there's a group all arriving at once some of you would be waiting outside the door. The machine also let us state we wanted an extra key card. The rooms are small with no wardrobe but we knew that. We lived out of our case though there was nowhere else for it to go except on the floor. Bathroom lovely and clean, big enough shower. Small supermarket opposite which was open until 11pm (we went in at 10.55pm to buy stuff for breakfast), but it was shut on Sunday (like a lot of shops in Bergen) so stock up on a Saturday night. Turn left out of the hotel, and immediately left again, follow the road for 5 minutes and all of a sudden you are surrounded by bars and restaurants. Plenty of choices to eat, we ate after 9.30pm for 3 nights as we were out all day but they were still serving food. The concert hall was opposite and on Saturday night hundreds of people were pouring out of there as well as the bars to make for a very lively area. But there was no trouble and the hotel is just out of range to be caught up in the noise. Bergen train station is a 7 minute walk too. The hotel has a nice communal area with kettle, plates, wooden cutlery, fridge and microwave. We ate our own breakfast here every morning, but label your food in a bag because we didn't and our yoghurt was thrown away in the morning (our fault, we didn't read the notice). The pillows and mattress were among the comfiest we have ever had and despite it being winter the rooms were lovely and cosy warm. Would stay here again.

This is an unusual (self service) hotel where you have to pay and check in/out at their terminal. The room I stayed in was a tiny single room on the corner on the second floor, not worth the price.
Even thought there were staff in the office but their service was terrible. I asked for an official receipt several times and they mentioned that their manager would be back and that the documents I requested would be ready the day I checked out, but it wasn't ready that day. After that, they told me they would email me the scanned document when it was ready, but I haven't received it after 1 month. Over the past few days I have sent them an email asking for information, but they seem to block my emails and refuse to respond to my emails.
It was a horrible experience I've never had in my life. As a hotel, you should keep your promises to your customers. You have promised me many times, but so far I have received any useful information. This is not a service quality issue, but an enterprise credit issue.

Citybox is always a good solution when visiting larger cities like Oslo or Bergen. The rooms are very minimalistic, but it is okay if you're just there for sleeping. Room is clean and the location is very central, near a big mall and parking space.

Dear Helen O,
There are three different options to choose from when you'd like to go from the airport and in to the city centre:
1. Taxi - costs approx 450NOK, takes 20min and they are standing just outside of the exit.
2. SAS Flybus (shuttle bus) - costs 125,- one way and takes 20-25min, when you buy the ticket on the bus, but it's cheaper if you but the ticket in one of the machines in front of the bus stop. The buses are also just outside of the arrival hall.
3. Bybanen (light rail) - the cheapest option, it costs 37NOK when you buy it in the SKYSS app or in the machines next to the stop. However, it takes 45min, so it's not the best option if your in a hurry.
Hi,
We're sorry for the terribly late reply!
No, we do not have kettles in the rooms, but we have them available at the Host office on the first floor, so if you come by there, we will lend you one to bring with you to your room :)
The rooms are very nice and modern but there isnât a kettle to use. There is a very nice âkitchenâ for everyone to use inside the entrance to the hotel. Also, a very convenient supermarket right across the street.
