Detailed Reviews
We stayed here for one night before departing for Oslo. The hotel was clean and tidy. The staff were very helpful and attentive. Breakfast was very good with a good selection. The hotel is well situated and restaurants were easily within walking range.

At 2am in the morning, after our booking at Sophie's House was dishonoured, 7 bleary-eyed friends wandered the streets of Bergen looking for a place to rest their weary heads! The gentleman at reception at the Best Western was fantastic and helped find us 3 rooms at the hotel at discounted rates.
The rooms itself were basic (double room had small doubles) and the bathroom was fairly tight. We were all given non-smoking rooms but given the time we arrived, none of us complained!
The hotel was in a very convenient location - about a 5 - 10 minute walk to the fishmarkets / tourist centre (and where the airport bus stops). There were renovations going on which started at 7:30am but it didn't affect any of us...!
Breakfast was ok - nothing to write home about. Cold meats, cereal, fish etc. were on the menu. We did spot a bakery enroute to the fishmarkets if cold meats are not your 'thing'.
Note about Sophie's House - the owner neither returned calls, voicemail or emails about our supposedly 'confirmed' booking!!

The hotel is a walking distance from the city Center (about 15 mins). It's pretty quiet around and there's a good hiking place right behind the hotel.
Like I said it's pretty quiet around, rooms are pretty decent and the staff are really friendly. It's more like a service apartment than a hotel. The breakfast spread is good and that's the only thing they serve in the hotel so be prepared to look around for restaurants. Plus point there's a convenient store right beside the hotel so you can get chips drinks and stuff.
It's a lovely place and value for money too. Go for it

The hotel was in a perfect place for easy walking around the city. It was very close to the famous Fish Market and a short picturesque walk to Bryggen and its glorious shops. Just up the hill was the station for the funicular, so it was close to many of Bergen's attractions. The breakfasts we absolutely stunning. So delicious, we will definitely be back for more. The room was comfortable and clean and the bathroom was large. Super.

We thought we'd treat ourselves to a 4 star hotel...i really don't know how this places has stars! The room was so tiny i could barely open the suitcase. The corridors, rooms and bathrooms all had a horrible musty smell which could only be escaped by leaving the building. The staff were friendly and the breakfast great but really felt like we'd been ripped off - really awful rooms! I've since found out that most Best Westerns are sub-standard.

The Hotel is perfectly placed to enjoy Bergen once you get out of it and the short walk to the market and the central quay is scenic. The rooms are very tidy and breakfast is great. Most attractions are a short walk away and the high street is almost a block behind.

Nice hotel in a nice location near the heart of Bergen, Norway. The staff was friendly, breakfast in the morning was good (buffet style breakfast included) and the price was not bad for the room. The room is a bit small but adequate. The only thing I didn't like so much was that there was not a good English TV news service like CNN or BBC at the hotel. The only English TV station was Russian TV which even many Russians don't trust. Not sure why the hotel does not provide a reputable English news service. I know this might not seem like a big deal to many but I like to keep up on the news.
We had to walk a few blocks over cobblestones pulling our luggage to get to the airport bus so allow about 15 minutes to get to the nearest stop. The airport bus is a good value and the bus driver was very friendly. You can buy your bus pass at the local tourist office. You will need to seek other food locations for eating at lunch and dinner. These are mostly a few block away.

I stayed here for one night while traveling solo around Norway in late September. The hotel and room were clean and the service was fantastic. There was some construction going on right across the street but it didn't have much of an effect. The location and price were my main consideration when booking and the hotel is reasonably priced and within walking distance of all the places I wanted to see. Plus, they let me leave my luggage there after checkout while I walked around.

Stayed one night on a business trip. Lovely welcome and a slick reception service. Room a bit spartan but very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Beautiful new bathroom with a shower - no bath which is a shame. Television had a few English speaking channels which was good. Breakfast on a Saturday morning was extremely busy but in fairness to the hotel they warn you about that and suggest you come down before nine o'clock - which as it was a Saturday at the end of a very busy week I wasn't too keen to do - so I had to share a table, but it wasn't a problem. Breakfast was very nice. Bergen is a beautiful town, and once you get over the horrendous prices in Norway, is a lovely place to visit.

"If you like a more spacious bedroom you might consider upgrading as we did to have the space. Apparently it was hot this summer and there is a notice saying that the hotel does not have air conditioning. All upgraded rooms have a fan. otherwise you can get one from reception. ."Read full review
