Detailed Reviews
Excellent location one block from the historic old Bryggen and UNESCO site, 2 minutes walk to the Floyen Funicular rail and easy walking distance to most places in the city. However rooms are dark with old furnishings and dusty curtains. I booked more than 6 months in advance on a presummer sale before the hotel was sold by Nordic Choice to Strawberry Hotels but was given a small dark room with a view of the roof. The included buffet breakfast was very good with ample choices but often not enough tables to be seated. Note the hotel does not offer any other meal services, not even small snacks in the bar so you need to go out to eat.

We arrived late evening and had to wait in the lobby for a good 40 minutes because the key system did not work. I felt bad for the receptionist that became so stressed he was swearing and saying sorry to us multiple times. He offered my man a bottle of water as it was included in the membership but we would have appreciated Mabe a glass of water for me as vell.
After getting another employe to help out they got us to the room. Both very helpful and stressed. These things can happen we understand.
The room had a view over the harbor and was clearly at the old part of the hotel not like the pictures of the hotel. Very high ceilings, but very dark. Not a lot of lighting in the room. The glasses in the room was dirty with lipstick stains so we had to take another trip down to the front desk.
The bed was inviting even tho it was two single beds and not a double witch we expectedly have booked. Plus for robes and slippers.
The bathroom was also old and it was very hard to find a livable temperature in the shower. Eigther super warm or freezing.
Wee needed to sleep with the window open because of the room was quite warm and not well conditioned.
The breakfast was ok, not really what I expected for a clarion hotel but I found options to my likings. The breakfast staff was nice.
The best thing about the hotel was the location but all in all we will be choosing one of the other hotels in the city center the next time.

This hotel is ideally situated – at the center of Bergen, close to the fish market and to Bryggen.
Breakfast is gorgeous – everything you want, and very good.
Family rooms are spacious.

The hotel has a great location close to the main attractions, Port of Bergen, public transport (although we did not use it), restaurants, souvenir shops and Fløibanen. The breakfast (included in the room rate) was diverse and generous. Nice comfy layout too. Our room was very large and with harbour view; it’s the size of a studio. It would have been useful to have a mini-fridge in the room if you wanted to have a cold/chill drink late ar night, but that’s a minor point. The housekeeping does a great job throughout the day: our towels were replaced daily even if they didn’t need to (i.e. we didn’t leave them on the bathroom floor). You can rent an umbrella for 48hrs from the reception for a decent price (about £2), which was useful as we didn’t have our own umbrellas and pretty much all the time spent there was rainy/drizzly. I’d stay at this Clarion again!

The rooms are nice, the towels are large enough to make a light-weight blanket for those of us who swelter under European duvets. But it’s the phenomenal staff that will have me come back if I ever return to Bergen. Isabella in particular was cheerful, patient, and helpful. The morning staff were also kind and cheerful. The Clarion doesn’t have a restaurant, but they’re only one short block from the best restaurant in town (Bryggeloftet). I highly recommend this hotel.

A very clean, quaint hotel in a great location in town. I was in Bergen at the start and end of my trip so I stayed in two separate rooms, both were clean, comfortable, fairly decently sized, though the second one was significantly larger than the first. Bathroom was stocked with shower essentials. Front desk staff was very helpful. Breakfast had a good variety of items, most were good. Breakfast time slots were given at check in to avoid large crowds at the same time but honestly no one was checking if you were coming at the right time so it was merely a suggested time that was not strictly enforced and did a good job at managing the flow of people.

The hotel has a very good location inert in VÃ¥gen and by Bryggen. The hotel is well maintained, but bears the stamp of a design that was probably established in the late 80s.
We arrived at the hotel around 11:00 and were told that check-in could only take place at 15:00. We were going to a party at the same time that afternoon and needed the room a little earlier. This was impossible, but could be solved by paying NOK 100 per hour previously available. So the room was probably ready for the room number we had been given the day before. Paid for an hour earlier.
It was very clear that money was to be made here.
Even umbrellas should be rented out for NOK 35. Not lent out for free.
When we checked out we paid for a bag of crisps at NOK 59. The next day we received an e-mail that we had not paid. Of course I replied that we had. Then got a reply that yes, that was correct. With a medium humble regret.
But ok, the breakfast was very good and the bed and room comfortable. (Although we got separate beds even though a double bed was ordered.
Sorry, but the hotel did not tempt me to visit again

We stayed in Bergen for 2 nights on our trip around Scandanavia. We booked 2 rooms and they were ready when we checked in. Very comfortable beds, clean rooms, and satisfactory bathrooms. The maid came for daily service which was a plus too.
We had breakfast 2 mornings and each time it was crowded, but we were able to find seating due to the large room. There were many choices for different palates and 2 coffee machines. Friendly employees worked constantly to refill breakfast items and clear tables.
The proximity to downtown Bergen and the sites was the cherry on top. I would recommend staying here.

My experience at this hotel was mostly good. The rooms were spacious and clean. The breakfast was good. On my last night there, they gave my room key to a man and told him it was his room. I was lying in bed at 10:30 at night when a man with a suitcase came into my room. I literally jumped out of bed because I was terrified. I am a solo female traveler and having a man you don't know come into your room at night is utterly terrifying. There was no dead bolt on the door, otherwise I would have used that because he wouldn't have been able to get in. What if I had been dressing, or I was in the shower? I would not stay here again for the fact that they send a random stranger in my room in the middle of the night.

The hotel is located in Bryggen, close to most of the main places in Bergen tourists tend to visit. The facilities are well maintained and clean. We stayed a few nights, in two types of rooms and they were both clean and comfortable. All the sfaff members are extremely kind and helpful with whatever topic they are requested to assist with. * I would like to specifically appreciate the help of Isabella, who assisted us with two personal matters in a manner which was more that what she would have been expected to (Thank you again!). And as everyone else writes and says - breakfast is very varied and good.
