Detailed Reviews
(+) The hotel is brand new (opened its doors in July 2021). The location is convenient for those planning to spend time outside of Bergen as it is located at the gate of the city. About 30 min walking to downtown but a tram line runs right next to it. The staff were very friendly and helpful especially Indre who checked us in. The common space full of board games and table tennis were a nice touch. We booked a family room as it was the only room available with decent space (30 m2). Other standard rooms were very small. The bed was comfortable. Plenty of light and a nice view on the waterfront.
(-) Rooms are not soundproof and lack very basic stuff like a wardrobe. For all the space we had, we had to live off the suitcase despite having plenty of space for more than a wardrobe or dresser. The family rooms are large but they come with features designed for people with disabilities from the door key to the bathroom. Too many blinking and flashing lights (thermostat had bright green LED light, the automatic door opener also had bright green light, another white box above the door head had blinking red and white lights and a red light of the motion sensor that is triggered by every move). No coffee machine in the room. And no seating area.

This Moxy hotel has plenty of potential, having opened relatively recently, but I think could be improved to become a great place to stay in Bergen. The positives: polite and friendly staff, who were efficient and supplied hot drinking water whenever we wanted. Although the rooms are small, there are some clever design features such as the ability to put clothes hangers essentially anywhere on the gridded wall design. The modern smart TV allows you to do Chromecast as well, which is a plus when you don't understand Norwegian TV...! The bathroom is clean and modern with a decent shower, but obviously no bathtub in a small room.
Negatives/things which could be improved: The ceiling design of the rooms is awful in our view as there is no plaster but looks like an industrial factory. There could also be a lot more desk space in the room as the shelves are too narrow. The beds are indeed very firm, maybe because they are quite new but if one notices it enough to put it in a review, then it's something the hotel should look at changing I think. Lastly, we thought the breakfast was relatively poor quality - you could see the staff heating the food up by themselves and sometimes it was undercooked, especially the pastries.
Location: not in the centre, but the tram will get you to the centre in 5 minutes, and it's convenient for the airport to have a tram stop within 300 metres walk.
So, the hotel could represent excellent value for money in an expensive city. At the moment, it is OK value - not bad, but not great either. But it's not far off from becoming a very good short stay option in Bergen; it just needs some small changes here and there.

Hi, thank you so much for your awesome feedback. We love that you enjoyed so many things about Moxy Bergen, especially our staff and unique wall design! Guest service is really important to us and your awesome feedback will help us improve, as well as give even better guest service to those that come and stay at Moxy Bergen in the future. Sad to hear that you did not like our breakfast and found it too expensive. We offer to our guests a simple breakfast buffet and we try to have a diverse option of items for our guests to choose from. Thank you for telling us about your breakfast experience here at the hotel. We offer some great top mattresses for those guests who find our mattress a bit too hard, we would be happy to supply you with one if you decide to try us out again. Hope you have had an awesome summer 😊

20 minutes walk from Bergen central station, or you can take a tram to Florida stop and walk over which is about 8 minutes journey. Arrived and was greeted warmly by Morine, she was very friendly and helped us with travel queries and gave us sound avice regarding traveling in Norway. Complimentary drink was very nice way to help us settle in. Room was decent size, has a comfy bed, small bathroombut has a very good shower as the water pressure was just right. You can get a great sea view if you pay bit extra.
Breakfast was standard, usual fry up with bread, croissants, yoghurt, Coffe machine and juices. To be fiar there were quite a few options other
than the fry up.
Bad points where no hotel slippers provided, needed an extra towel which I asked for on both days but never received it it or an update. Having said that I had a great stay and the water front view amazing

I very much enjoyed my stay at Moxy Bergen, and hope to visit once again. The Moxy crew were all friendly, outgoing and professional. I added breakfast to my week-long stay, enjoying the hot buffet. Delish! ...as were the evening drinks :) . The room itself was of minimalist nature, and the beds took getting used to (In the Americas our beds are not that hard). But I did not have any issues..but can see how others could. The Wifi was great and loved the Muk products for shampoo/conditioner/bodywash and soap. The hotel itself is just outside the city centre, I completed the brisk 20 minute walk daily (or 5 minute tram ride) to the shops/restaurants. Also, the closest Tram station, Florida is essentially 5 minute walk away and goes to city centre and the airport (45 mins to airport). HELPFUL TIP take the tram to the hotel over taxi from the airport, you'll save $$$$$. - tram was approx $3, while a taxi cost me $65/70.

Very expensive basic rooms for what it has to offer. Beds for my taste were very uncomfortable, very hard, only offer one quilt and no other bed sheets. There is no phone in the room, any problem you have or anything you need to ask you have to go down to the lobby, the receptionist that checked us in was very unpleasant and unwilling to help. Breakfast is very basic. Rooms are small but okay for short staying.
It does have a nice view and it also includes a gym and lots of board games, aside from other games like foosball and ping pong. It is new so it is nice and offers free wifi. There is a parking lot near.

Hey Isadora V, Thanks for taking the time to tell us about your visit. We are clearly not everyone's cup of tea, and we are sorry you didn't like our unique take on the traditional hotel experience. In Moxy we do not offer a phone in the rooms, and the breakfast is more international kind with a touch of Norwegian "flavor". Our tip is to become a member of Marriott Bonvoy, then its is easy to chat with the reception via the Marriott Bonvoy app. We offer some great top mattresses for those guests who find our mattress a bit too hard, we would be happy to supply you with one if you decide to try us out again. Amazing service is really important to us, so we are sorry that you found our receptionist unpleasant during your stay. We always want our guests to leave with nothing but happy thoughts about how they were treated, and we apologize for letting you down. We are happy to have your feedback and look forward to another chance to make a better impression. Thank you for giving us a shot, and we hope you'll stop by for a drink on your next trip! Peace, love + MOXY, Monica

We have stayed at most of the different brands of Marriott hotels all around the world., from TownePlace suites to the JW . Now it was time to try the Moxy. Moxy is Marriott´s « economy» range of Hotel, and after having checked in, I see why the Marriott name is nowhere to be seen! The Marriott normally stands for quality and comfort. The Marriott beds are famous for their comfort, and you can even buy the Marriott brand beds and bedding! Well, that does not go for the Moxy, obviously! The room was - chic? No cupboards, no fridge no CHAIRS ( a smal ottoman dose not count as a chair), and the beds, omg the beds! I have not felt a bed as hard as this since I stayed in a youth hostel in Austria in 1975! One thing is the rock hard bed, but another thing is the total lack of mattress toppers. EVERY hotel these days has a mattress topper! At least in Norway, they do! They said at the reception that the reason for why there were no chairs in the bedroom, was because they wanted people to «hang out» in the lobby area (read bar, so they can have your money). Only there was very few places that you could sit comfortably in the lobby area as well, ulnes you were in the 20s or 30s! I never thought I would be so negative to a Marriott hotel, but yes, I am!! I suppose I’m too old, so not in the right age group for this concept hotel!
On the positive side: The Crew did a great job and were very attentive! The bath towels were lovely! Very good breakfast with good gluten-free section. Personally I’ll stick with the Fairfield Marriott hotel or better - shame they are not in Norway!

Dear Kari1957, Thank you so much for taking your time and write a review. This helps us know what we can do better and how we can make your stay even better. Our style is a bit unique and our rooms is hyper-efficient so we are super sad to hear that you did not enjoy our rooms. With regards to the bed/mattress - we are sorry to hear that you did not fancy our beds. Many of our guests love the firm beds, but we see sometimes they are not for all. The sleep is the most important when staying at a hotel, so please let us know next time that you need to cuddle in to a softer bed, and we will magically fix that for you! We hope you will give us another chance the next time you are in Bergen. Have a wonderful day :)

Very embarassing what this hotel did to me and my boyfriend. We stayed there for a whole week, spent probably well over 10-15000 nok at the hotel (food and room). I later Get a call from the manager saying we have to pay 2000 nok for accidentally spilling some barbecue sauce on the carpet flooring of the hotel room? Accidents happen, very bad service. Instead of beeing understanding and recognizing we are people, who can have accidents, they were vere rude and demanding. Telling me i have to pay or else i wont be able to ever come back.
The lady also complained that the rooms were dirty? For the amount of money you got from us that is a very embarassing thing to claim. We stayed at your hotel for almost a whole week, and not once was the room cleaned, of course the room is going to be dirty? Its litterly lived in? Your manager also laughed at me in the phone and was incredibly rude, i was so surprised i was shoock. She was spaming my phone while i was at work, very rude. Neither me or my friends will ever be visiting a hotel with so low level. The low price is Even to high for you guys. definetly very embarassing on your behalf. I was really surprised of moxys way of handling problems, i and i shure did not see that coming. Thank you!

Hey LeneOvreviken, Thanks for taking the time to tell us about your visit. We are sorry we did not match, and that you found us rude and demanding. We love to have feedback, good and bad, but we do also have very clear rules for what we can accept in our rooms. We clean our rooms very thoroughly, because we want every guest to feel they are the first one in the room. When that is not possible with general cleaning, we need to charge extra. We clean the stay over rooms every day, but when our guests keep the do not disturb sign out, you are telling us that you do not wish to have cleaning. We wish you a great day!

Stayed at Moxy just for one night, switched from other "chic" hotel in city centre that had incredibly soft beds. As I am back pain person, I need firm beds, and this is difficult in Norway, as almost all hotel have cheap ultra-soft foam mattresses, making healthy sleep impossible and ensuring back pain next morning. Not Moxy Bergen, and I was extremely glad about this. Had incredible sleep on top quality firm mattress. Yes, hotel is economy brand, that means that rooms are quite small, bathrooms including, and that furniture is sparse, but I had short stay and was looking for good sleep after staying in other ultra-soft bed hotels that ruined my back. Breakfast was good, just too many people there at once with limited seating, which can be problematic.

We stayed at the Moxy in July and had a wonderful time. As soon as we arrived although much earlier than the check in time, the kind people at the Reception not only had our rooms ready but also kindly upgraded us as they saw we had a child and arrived after the SAS flight cancellation sagas.
They ensured to put a smile after that stress. Special shout out to Ingrid who went above and beyond to make our stay pleasant. She also did something special hand made crafts for my daughter and got her few coloring books to keep her occupied. Great service and these little things really made a big difference.
Rooms were really good and what you would expect from Moxy also USB ports all corners of the room. View was amazing looking into the waters. Quick 4 mins walk to the tram stop and then 10 mins you will be in the Bergen city or a good 20 mins walk through the park can get you there as well. We didn't have issue at all with the location. If anything its a nice walk. Once again, thank you so much Ingrid for the little memories.
The lounge area is really nice to chill with few games around. You can also bring your on food and chill there or order from the bar. We tried breakfast one morning, it was ok, just enough what you needed.

We really enjoyed this hotel. It's not exactly in the city centre, but it can be reached in many convenient ways, you can even rent bikes, and there is a bunch of little electric scooters available just in front of the hotel. It has a young-oriented style which is quite fresh and without some of the frills of normal hotel chains. The breakfast buffet is very good, lots of different choices available, and the common areas are cozy, fun, colourful and very spacious, in addition to that one can use some commodities for working purposes. We definitely loved those areas. The outside terasse is just lovely, with a nice view on the harbour. Rooms are reflecting the no frills both in design and attitude: no cabinets, no minibar, but a nice and open feeling plus a really really comfy bed. The mattress was very supportive and finally some serious pillows. Way to go!
