Great hotel ticks all boxes for us Nice family room, quality breakfast and great location. Staff very informative and friendly We did lots of things with our Bergencard Ate at a restaurant called Olivia’s nearby who serve gluten free food we thought for Norway prices it was reasonable. Great location, just about 1 minute's walk from Bryggen, the famous old part of town, with the main centre including the fish market just a short stroll away. The funicular railway that takes you to the top of Mt Floyen is also based in the town.
We were fortunate enough to have a room in the front of the hotel overlooking the harbour. The room itself was quite small but is fully equipped with really comfortable beds. There is tea/coffee making facilities, hairdryer, iron & ironing board etc. Small but functional bathroom. There is just one problem if you are staying for more than a night or two - there are no drawers, no cupboards, and just one small hanging area with about 8 hangers. We lived out of suitcases.
Breakfast here really sets you up for the day. There is a huge range of both hot & cold foods and you can eat your fill. The light evening meal would be fine for anyone who is not fussy. Unfortunately I am, but my wife enjoyed the meals. There was still enough bread and cold meats/cheese etc for me and a sandwich toaster if you feel like a toastie. The lounge on the 11th floor is open from 0900 to 2100 and you can have free tea, coffee, biscuits and fruit all day.
Staff here are really friendly and all speak excellent English.

My husband stayed here on two different occasions while in Bergen and I cannot rave about it enough. The rooms was clean and modern. The shower was great with heated floor and wonderful shower pressure. While we were there on a Wednesday night they served a light dinner. I wouldn’t even call it light. They had soup, salad, meats, cheeses, fresh bread, and a panini press. My husband and I made a dinner of it and went out to get dessert. The breakfast in the morning has something for everyone. Yogurt, coffee, tea, fresh bread, croissants, Nutella, meats, cheeses, vegetables, eggs, omelets, and much more. It was a delicious breakfast. It can definitely tie you over so you only need a light lunch.
They have a gym with everything one needs to work out while on vacation.
They have a lounge on the 11th floor that is open 9a-9p that offers coffee/tea/lattes, fruit, tea, water with a view of the city. Also, they have still and sparkling water on tap! They also always have coffee available in the lobby.
They have a few spots for parking that is 190NOK which is far cheaper than the parking garage nearby that is 285 NOK.
Would definitely stay here again.

Last October I made a reservation at this hotel from June 16 to 18, 2020, it is true at a non-refundable price. However, as we know the situation, due to the Covid-19, I asked for the possibility of cancelling, given our high age. I was turned down by the principal. And now, the airline we had to travel with has just cancelled our flights, so it is all the more impossible to make this project a reality. All the stage bookings I had made were cancelled by the hotels concerned, this with great understanding. However Thon Orion persists and refuses to refund me the amount paid. I let you appreciate the situation, it is still a nice amount of money.

Getting to the hotel from the airport was uncomplicated, it was only a 30-40min bus ride and a short walk (5 min) from the stop. The location of the hotel is in walking distance to Bryggen, the fish market, funicular and other places of interest. Check- in went smoothly, we were greeted by the friendly receptionist and were given cards for our room. The rooms were small, but comfortable and VERY clean. After getting ourselves situated we took an amazing shower, the best one we had on our vacation. Although the shower was not immense the water pressure was absolutely terrific and heated quickly. Regular amenities such as shampoo, soap, etc were provided. For breakfast there was a lot to choose from, fruits, baked goods, salmon, deli meats, cheeses, eggs, juices, coffee, etc. We were quite happy with the options and enjoyed our meal in the spacious dinning room area. I would absolutely stay here again!

We stayed here for a night before taking an ocean cruise. Our room had a great view, everything was clean and the bed was very comfortable for two weary jet-lagged travelers. Instead of venturing out, we opted for the light dinner which consisted of a very nice broccoli soup with roasted kale, salads and meat/cheese bread offerings. In the morning the breakfast was one of the most sumptuous feasts I have ever seen. You would have to stay here a week to try and appreciate all the breakfast options. The service at the hotel was excellent. We arrived but our luggage did not. The front desk gave us toiletry items and in the morning Ann (front desk) called the airport to track our luggage. This kindness was most appreciated. If the service here is duplicated at other Thon hotels, we will definitely consider them in the future.

We had a two nights stay in Orion and liked the high up room with harbour view. Receptionist was very helpful. The service staff in the breakfast room was less effective, so we had to clean a table ourself before we could start our breakfast. Else, the location is perfect.

Just returned home from a 4 night stay at the Thon hotel Orion. We had a standard room, which was compact but had all you needed for a city break. The room was clean, the shower was fantastic and had good power, unlike many usual hotel showers. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. The decor is modern and colourful. There is a lounge downstairs and also another with weekday opening on the top floor. Both lounges have free coffee and tea available. The breakfast in the morning was excellent. A huge choice of very fresh ingredients. We loved the scrambled eggs and the fluffy pancakes. Again excellent service in the dining room. There was a concert going on next door in the garden area, we were made aware of this by the staff and told it would end at 11pm , it ended at 10.30pm and we were not disturbed by the noise. Location of the hotel is excellent and we took the flybussen express bus, which worked out around £17 return for an adult, from airport to the nearest bus stop to hotel which was a few minutes walk. Would recommend this hotel to my friend and family as we really enjoyed our time here in Bergen.

We stayed here for 3 nights and can honestly say it was one of the best experiences we have had during our travels Its location was excellent being a ten minute walk from a wide selection of bars and restaurants. Convenient also for the attractions such as the Fish Market and the demarcation point for boat excursions. The hotel was a welcoming place to be, particularly from the staff that greeted us .Our room was at the back of the hotel which was quiet and had a really comfortable bed and linen, as well as a smart bathroom with a hairdryer and an iron with ironing board discreetly concealed by the T.V ; which was a generous size. We slept soundly and looked forward to our breakfast. This was the star of the show. The choice on display was set out rather like a top notch wedding reception. Every conceivable cold breakfast items, fresh bread, Yogurts, smoothies as well as Porridge and hot breakfast items. It was superb. Coffee service to the table. But I save this till last. The staff from front of house to breakfast and room service were friendly helpful and made you feel so welcome. Thon Hotel .....take a bow

Location of the hotel is pretty perfect, almost in the sentrum of town. There is still some sound at night from the bars. etc. We stayed there from 12.08.2020 - 14.08.2020 in 463 (windows facing inwards the building) getting a nice family deal. Nice room size for 2 adults and 2 small kids. 1 big double bed, 1 big sofa bed + a baby cot. The room looked big and nice. They have chosen a very nice colour pallette for the floor and room. A lot of thought has gone into design/colour. Breakfast was excellent, kids really enjoyed it. The hallway to Our room was fantastic, with lighted stars in the ceiling, very nice touch. Room included 4 umbrellas, which is very nice for travellers since bergen is the rain capital of Norway
Unfortunately this cannot be said to renovating an old concrete building when there is no AC or installed adequate ventilation . We came on a warm day and inside the hotel room it was cooking, we got 1 fan from reception, but were struggling to fall asleep. The following day was considerably colder so we decided to not switch hotels which was a huge mistake, since the room (and hallway) didnt get noticable colder. By evening it was chilly and room was still a sauna. We could not fully open windows, but was told at checkout that we could have asked to have them unlocked (which wasnt an option for us with small kids). Complained to receptin at checkout and got a nice email that it was warm in Bergen. Unfortunately it was only really warm 1 day and the fact that the hallway outside our room was also very warm reflects to a hotel that has been renovated without taking care of minimum proper ventilation or ac . What was supposed to be a nice finish to Our camping vacation, so we'd feel refreshed for travel home ended up being an 2 nights of little sleep

We had large room and it had a shower. We took taxi but you can take light rail and than nearby bus which will take you very close to hotel … 2-3 minutes walk
