Thon Hotel Bristol Bergen is often celebrated for its vibrant atmosphere and tastefully furnished rooms, although opinions vary regarding room size and curtain quality. The service at this hotel garners high marks for its friendly staff and efficient check-in, complemented by an excellent breakfast.
While the rooms' cleanliness is generally praised, some guests suggest there's room for improvement in dusting. The hotel's location is a highlight, offering easy access to central attractions, yet some reviewers find the balance between cost and room size less favorable.

Standard rooms are really small, but okay for one or two nights. Good breakfast! Location in the city center could not be better to explore the city by foot. Parking is close by, 20% discount on park ticket when you are a hotel guest.

Bergen is a walking city and so this hotel was central although we found it just a bit further from the areas we wanted to be close to. We stayed 3 nights and were given a accessible room which proved to be quite large for Europe and for an accessible bathroom it was very well arranged and user friendly even for us who normally don’t like them. It didn’t splash everywhere as much as some do. The room is brightly colored and pleasant and the curtains closed properly, 2 single chairs for sitting was also part of the furnishings and a small fridge which came in handy. In the lobby was free coffee/tea it’s a small seating area and when we needed fresh milk the receptionist had it on hand as per a displayed notice. Staff were pleasant and perfunctory they were not overly friendly or unpleasant. Maybe this is the Norway way. The breakfast though was great with lots of choice, after having been at the other Thon Hotel in Oslo whilst this in Bergen was very good it didn’t meet excellence of the one in Oslo, they also seemed short staffed and there was mostly one girl cooking and refilling the hot food as quick as she could, but we felt she wasn’t really experienced either and we felt she might have been thrown into the deep end. Where the other Thon had the fresh orange juice machine this one had an amazing coffee machine which once you worked out how to use it was perfect for getting our coffee for the day.. we loved it. Overall it was still an excellent breakfast and a pleasant peaceful stay. The attached restaurant (Egon part of a chain) was handy as we decided to get a burger and fries and take it to the room, you can charge back to the room if desired but mostly it again was handy for evenings after a long day of touring. This hotel is very clean and neat and for the price and consistency as our 2nd Thon hotel it is great value IMHO given the time of year of our visit.

Thon Hotel Bristol Bergen is centrally located downtown Bergen. We stayed one night before leaving on a cruise. Hotel staff was very helpful in orienting us to the area, providing maps and arranging for a cab for our transfer to our ship. The lobby and our room were tastefully decorated and immaculately clean. Security is a priority with keycards necessary to access the rooms and the luggage storage area where we left our bags for several hours after checkout. Breakfast was outstanding in the spacious breakfast area with a wide variety of tasty cold and hot offerings. We would not hesitate to recommend Thon Hotel Bristol Bergen for anyone needing to stay for any length of time in Bergen.

The location is awfully hard to beat, you’re about a 5 minute walk from the wharf and everything else worth seeing. Unfortunately, the convenience comes with a cost as the location is pretty noisy. We had a courtyard room and all night each night people were dumping out bottles into recycling, having parties on a rooftop terrace across the courtyard, or just generally having loud conversations. It’s not totally unexpected with a city center hotel and certainly not the hotel’s fault, but still the disruption to sleep is worth mentioning.
However the staff is absolutely excellent and very helpful with any questions you might have. Breakfast was also spectacular. Overall not a bad place to stay in Bergen.

Dear guest. Thank you so much for writing a review after your stay with us. We appreciate it very much and is important to us. We are so glad to hear that you found our staff excellent and helpful. The recycling of bottles from our neighbours is something we are in dialog of getting a different time for. Thank you for telling us. The staff was very friendly. Due to flight cancellation we arrived a day later than our reservation and could stay only 4 nights instead of 5. The hotel was very understanding and did not charge us for the first night, and they even let us check in right away when we arrived in the morning the following day. What was truly amazing was the breakfast buffet—it was unmatched by any of my previous hotel experiences! Even though Bergen is very nice, I don’t plan to return, but if I did it would be for the breakfast at this hotel.

Placed close to city center, Bryggen and the fish marked this hotel is exelent for a stay in Bergen. Nice rooms, great breakfast, and close to dinner resturants for your evening. We have stayed at this hotel three times.

Very pleased we chose to stay here (as opposed to, say, Bryggen, which was our original intention) as it's so centrally located. In particular, it's only 125m or so from the end of the Bybanen light railway (Byparken) at the junction of Olav Kyrres gate at Starvhusgaten, where one can get a No.1 tram out to the airport for a mere £3.50, or just £1.75 if you're over 67 (and a very frequent service to boot). Fantastic!
Central locations naturally come at a cost premium, and we paid £215 per night for a Business room. This was very spacious and comfortable, however, so an upgrade you might like to consider if an ability to 'swing a cat' is important to you, as by all accounts the standard rooms are much more compact (not always the case in other hotels where it's sometimes hard to spot the difference, bar maybe a bath robe and slippers!). We didn't use the coffee machine (in my view often more trouble than they're worth...) but a kettle is also provided, the base of which is rather cleverly concealed on a pull-out shelf.
Our room was on the second floor but, despite being close to the street, there was no noise from outside. The blackout curtains were very effective and my only negative observation would be that the pillows were, to me, rather too soft (but that's only because I'm accustomed to a pretty solid Tempur one!).
Last but not least the [included] breakfast was excellent and the staff preparing it and clearing dishes away were very attentive and deserve particular praise.
Happy to recommend.

We had booked 2 nights here but unfortunately could stay just 1 night as our flight got delayed. The rooms are tiny with not much space to keep luggage. The room was clean and adequate though as we spent most of our time out.
Breakfast was really good compared to other hotels in Europe. There was lots of choice. Only complaint was the coffee machine was not working so well but the lady kindly helped with it when I asked.
Regarding the bathroom, it’s really tiny as well. Not much space in the shower. Also the shower gel/shampoo got over just after 1 person showered. The bottle is opaque so we couldn’t even see how much was there. I never had this issue in any other hotel till date. I would’ve rated 4 stars if the bathroom was a bit bigger and there were better toiletries.
The location is excellent. City centre and walkable to Bryggen area.

Dear guest Thank you so much for taking the time to write to us after your stay with us. Our standard rooms are proximately 21-22 square meters. If our guests have a lot of luggage, we understand that can a challange. We have larger upgraded rooms for a small fee. Give us a heads up next time, and we can offer you upgraded room if there is availability. We wish you a further good summer, and hope to see you back with us some time.

We really liked the location being very walkable to all of the wonderful things in
Bergen- fish market, Funicular, quaint old streets, museums, shopping, fjord cruise, information center, train station, etc. There was always a nice coffee and water station in the lobby (in Oslo a Thon Hotel also had pastries and fruit at the desk). The room was spacious and comfortable, breakfast had lots of great, fresh choices and was delicious. They also let us have a delayed check out when our flight was delayed. Would stay here again.

The room was a bit small but we were only there for one night after a cruise. The breakfast was an excellent all you can eat buffet with plenty of options. Free tea and coffee in reception-ideal when filling in time post checkout whilst waiting for onward transport.
We chose this hotel due to its proximity to the Bergen Light Rail and it was ideal. We had a 4 minute walk over good pavements to the terminal where we caught the tram and travelled the 45 minutes to the airport for all of 44NOK (£3.62 for two seniors- something actually cheap in Norway!!)
Our only gripe was that the transfer bus from the port dropped up off about 20 metres away to save having to reverse out. Not normally a problem except for the cobbles and uneven pavement dragging heavy cases.

Hi, There are two parking houses nearby; "City Park P-hus" and "Klostergarasjen". Both are just within 50-100m away from the hotel and I think they cost around NOK 200 per 24hrs. You can find the information on the hotel home page.
