Scandic Bergen City garners applause for its impeccable cleanliness and prime location, nestled in a peaceful area yet close to Bergen's vibrant theaters and pubs. While some guests have highlighted the hotel's modern touches and friendly staff, opinions vary regarding room quality and overall atmosphere, with criticisms pointing to outdated decor and maintenance issues. The hotel's amenities are deemed basic, with suggestions for enhancements like additional outlets. Noise from the streets and ongoing construction has been a common concern among guests seeking rest.

My wife and I stayed at Scandic Bergen City one night just before Christmas in connection with meeting.

The hotel was charming, our room was well equipped, in a quiet pwrt of the hotel. We had a good night's sleep, and the bathroom contained all necessary toilet articles. However, we missed slippers.

Breakfast the following morning was very good with a lot of choices. Not many guests in th breakfast room, perhaps because it was just a few days before Christmas. The staff were friendly and always at hand both in the loppy and in the breakfast room.

The hotel is located a ten minutes walk away from the centre of Bergen, but to walk towards the centre the morning we left was a pleasure, even if it was raining, which is quite normal in Bergen. The windows in the shops as well as many of the buildings wer filled with Christmas decorations, lightening up a grey day.

If you will stay at a nice hotel, willing to walk a bit to reach the centre and be served a nice breakfast, this is a hotel which gives you value for money.

Our stay in Scandic Bergen City was OK. The room suited perfectly for our family (2 adults and 2 kids).
The breakfast buffet was really good. The room in general was clean but the bathroom needs some improvement with the cleaning (The toilet was dirty and the top of the things in the bathroom was full of dust that can easily been removed with a feather duster)

Stayed at the hotel for 2 nights in connection with a business trip to Bergen ... liked the geographical situation as it is close to Jekteviken cruise pier where I was supposed to work. Hoped to have some time to relax ... but was SO disappointed when I got to the room. The hotel needs refurbishment, and the bathroom was so small that you basically could sit on the toilet, take a shower and brush your teeth at the same time. Had a dead butterfly lying in the window frame for 2 days, and the windows were dirty. 1 500 NOK per night is absolutely overpriced for a room this size and of this quality!

We stayed at the Scandic Bergen City for one night when we first arrived in Norway. When I made our reservation, I asked for a quiet room in the same building as the lobby. This was honored. It seems like the reviewers who do not like this hotel had a room in the other building.

The hotel is centrally located. The included breakfast was very very good. The reception staff was very nice and helpful.

We are happy with our stay, but it's also room for improvement. We had a room in the second building, which in itself is no problem, but the room was pretty cold. We are nevertheless happy with the size of the room! The room seems renovated, but the bathroom a bit outdated and worn. Beds are nice, but the pillows a bit thin for our liking. Plus for having a small fridge in the room.

The first night I woke up in the middle of the night, due to partying somewhere in the building or nearby. Next evening/night was relaxing and quiet. The location is also nice for exploring Bergen city.

Staff is service minded, and the ones working in the breakfast service is doing their most to keep the tables clean and food stocked. Some vegan options for breakfast is also a plus!

I'd stay here again if I needed a budget-friendly hotel, but if I'd had more money I'd probably have chosen somewhere else - Therefore average score from me/us. Still better than the budget hotels that don't serve breakfast!

I spent 4 nights here , this hotel is a good base for a few days in Bergen. It is about a 15 minute walk to the tourist centre of Bergen and 10 minutes from the Heurtigruten terminal easy walking downhill. There is a supermarket 2 minutes from the hotel. Check-in is in the main hotel , I was allocated a room in the building across the road. I was on the 4th floor, the room was clean and tidy. A very comfortable bed, a small shower and toilet room but it did the job plenty of hot water. Room service was good. Noise was notable by its absence, street traffic noise wasn't a problem either. Breakfast is served in the main hotel, the breakfast is excellent, lots of choice and freshly cooked. This hotel gets lots of tour groups so best to get down as early as you can. I got a taxi from the airport at a cost of £45 ( July 2022 ) returning I caught the light transit airport train which is less than 10 minutes from the hotel, you can buy your ticket from any 7-11 store , the cost is very inexpensive. When you arrive at the hotel ask for a map of Bergen, I found it invaluable in finding my way around Bergen. I would certainly return to and would recommend this hotel.

Excellent breakfast and service overshadowed tiny room with no chair or table. The shower was placed before the toilet in the very small bathroom, a solution that at first seemed odd, but it did work. All inn all value for money!

Worst hotel I ever stayed in. As a part of tour I had to stay here. The building apparently is in front of main hotel building which is abandoned and recently opened for refurbishment. It is infested and smelly. The elevator us dangerous and sometimes malfunctions.

Rooms are in no state of habitation, bathrooms stink and hardly cleaned.

Breakfast is stale and seems like cooked before 2 days

Stay on street but avoid this hotel

We were a family with 2 small boys in a family room staying for 4 nights. The room we had was apparently a big room but was still quite cramped. There are no cupboards or shelves to unpack clothes into which for a 5 day stay is an issue. The staff were great in removing the clunky floor-mounted TV which made a bit more room. There was a safe and fridge that did not keep cool. The breakfast is excellent but I would not stay there again for a family trip.

Arrived for a 5 night stay in the early hours, check in was quick and hassle free as in fact was check out. Be aware however, the hotel is spread across two buildings directly opposite each other on a semi-quiet road. Hotel reception is only in one of these buildings on the ground floor (easy to spot).

Room was modern and new and didn't have the problems or issues that other reviewers have left, this might be because its been refurbished. Plenty of space within - bathroom was large with plenty of lighting.

Slight caveat with the room was that it was road facing, so could hear outside noise on Friday and Saturday nights, fortunately I brought earbuds. During the week however this wasn't a problem and I didn't need them.

Breakfast dining area was large, with various seating options even at busier times of the morning with plenty of food choices. Did not have an issue with finding a seat for a solo traveller like myself.

I would stay at this hotel again - it is close to the attractions many only being a short 10 minute walk away. Staff were friendly with each other as well as guests ,quickly refreshing food options when running low at breakfast and clearing tables.

Hi what would be the nearest stop for Bergen Airport bus?
Answer from Marianne B K
You can take the light train from the airport to Byparken. It is approximate 7-10 minutes walk from Byparken to hotel. You can also taket the airport bus to Festplassen, take to the right, pass Scandic Byparken. Next corner to the right. you will see hotel 5 small blocks dotwn the street.
Answer from Marianne B K
Dear motopa5, There are no direct parking outside, only on own responsibility. Many do so. Otherwise, there are public parking houses next to us and 5-6 minutes walk from hotel. Welcome :-) Warm regards, Marianne
