Small rooms, even if upgraded to superior room here you got a fridge in your room.no other differences. Cleaning could have been better done but i'm picky Breakfast very good, You can order proper coffee (Espresso) at breakfast, no charge. Very nice. The room that I had was located to a busy road, could hear traffic all over night and beeps of the sign ok or no for walking passages over street. You cant get dinner at the hotel, but only 3-5 min away there are several good restaurants.

Dear Susannemribbelin, Thank you for taking your time to give us feedback after your stay. Our superior rooms are bigger than our standard rooms, and with more amentities, so there is a difference. I am sorry it wasn't clear enough to you as our guest. We have rooms facing our cortyard instead of the street, so ask for one of these next time, and you will not hear the traffic outside. But we are glad to see the rest of your stay was good, and that the breakfast was enjoyed. Hope we can welcome you back, next time you are in Bergen. Best regards, Anette Johansen, Front Office & Restaurant Manager

This hotel has three good points: location, staff and breakfast. Other than that, there's a lot to be desired. Our room was tiny, with views to a depressing backyard with no light at all and where you had to pull the curtains constantly in order not to be seen by the guests in opposite rooms. They only vacuumed our room and bathroom once, and only because we told them to (during five days of stay), and there was no door in the shower, only a short curtain that allowed all the water to flood the floor... A real nightmare. Our room was also next to the elevator despite our previous indications (we wanted it as far from it as possible)... So you can imagine. I could be more compromising if the hotel had been cheap, but it wasn't, so I can recommend it only for very short stays (one or two days at the most). If you're thinking about longer periods, look elsewhere.

Single room was adequate for a solo traveller with overnight bag only. No room to put a suitcase or backpack. Shower has a heat limiter on it that cannot be over ridden so Shower is only lukewarm at maximum heat. Water from the tap is hotter. No tea/ coffee making facilities in the single room and only one towel. Rooms overlooking tge "back garden" actually overlook a small concrete courtyard and other rooms but are quieter than those overlooking the street. It is only a short easy / flat walk to tourist areas such as the fishmarket and Bryggen, the Hanseatic historical area. Close to central station, bus stop and hop on hop off sightseeing bus stop about 2 minutes walk so location is great for tourists.

Hotel's Favourite
the hotel is located in the center of Bergen with all the advantages of living close to citycenter. Lots of nice restaurants, possibilities for seightseeing or just taking the lift to Fløya and a walk down.
The hotel has the perhaps best Scandic breakfast i ever experiences and i am a Topfloor member.

We, two adults and two youngsters, stayed in this hotel for three nights, room 615.
The hotel room was relatively small but we did find space for the suitcases and for drying our clothes (it was quite heavily raining in the area in those days). There was enough space in the toilet to organize one’s things there. The cleaning had been done well. The sound insulation was very good. The shower worked well and the bath was nice. The room was nicely designed.
The service was good and the receptionists were helpful. The location was nice close to the center and there were many restaurants in walking distance from the hotel. However, we had the room at the very highest floor so we could not hear the sounds from the centre. Thus the was room was generally very peaceful in the evening. We had only a rooftop window but the view from that was beautiful over the other rooftops and into a park in Bergen. There was a good covered parking garage reserved for hotel guests but one had to walk to it for about five minutes – still ok. The breakfast in the hotel was quite nice with a lot of variety.
If going to Bergen next time, we would definitely consider this hotel again. However, we found Bergen itself as a city as not very attractive and rather shady, as if it had seen its best days, unfortunately.

On the positive side: My room was quiet, facing a back yard and on the fourth floor. The bed was comfortable and large enough. The Internet connection was good.
Then on to the issues I had: The bedroom/livingroom was fairly modern in appearance, but the craftmanship put into the modernization was poor. Floor boards had separated. In the bathroom, there were cracked tiles, and some tiny beetles (sølvkre) were hiding in the cracks. There were two lights in the roof, one was not working at all, the other one was flickering all the time. One of the bed lamps were defective, so the room was pretty dark. I complained about all of this twice, they promised to fix it but nothing happened during my 5 day stay.
The breakfast arrangements were not good for me, as they only opened for breakfast at 8 in the morning, and I had to leave the hotel at 8. They offered me a pre-made breakfast, which I accepted. Over the days of the week it contained ham, cheese, salami, butter, scrambled eggs, caviar, liver pate, jam; they varied it a lot. In addition it had a small orange juice and youghurt. Some days I got two slices of bread, some days 3. But every day the bread was very dry. I never ate the scrambled eggs, as they were packed in glad-pack and looked quite unappaticing. In fact the "sausage" of scrambled eggs had a grey to yellow color, and looked quite like something I would never eat.
The staff was friendly and effective, except when it came to the issues with my room. Then the effectiveness disappeared. They had adequate measures against covid.
This is one of the Scandic hotels I have tried once. I will not be back. There are many other much better hotels in the area.

The location of this hotel suited us well, both in terms of distance to the show we were going to and distance to Bergen's nightlife.
The staff were friendly and helpful, they settled into misunderstandings regarding our order without hesitation. Breakfast was one of the better I have had in hotels.
Here we would like to stay the next time we need a hotel in Bergen as well.

We hated the ‘junior suite’ room they gave us… it looked nothing like the online photos. It was a claustrophobic attic with no windows…horrible. Shame on them for selling it in that category! We’d booked for three nights and thought of finding another place to stay but they promised a new room. When at 5pm our new room STILL wasn’t ready, Miranda at the front desk personally cleaned a room for us when their housekeeping refused! They’d had all afternoon to prepare a new room for us. It was not a good experience and we would not stay there again.

The Scandic Byparken rooms are extremely small but clean and comfortable. The bed is really comfortable. The bathroom is large and has everything you need!
The free breakfast was amazing - the best I have ever had in a hotel!
You can easily walk from the hotel to the main sight seeing places in Bergen, and to the bus station and tram stops. Buses also pass by the hotel.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. There are a few restaurants nearby and also a supermarket a few blocks away. There is free tea and coffee, and maybe pastries(if there are any left!), throughout the day if you ask at reception.
Our room was on the fifth floor at the back so we couldn’t hear traffic or any other noise apart from a load of bottles being tipped occasionally by the bar a few doors along. But not a problem!.
I was impressed with our first stay at a Scandic hotel. Well done Scandic Byparken!

No. Better to travel to the North of Norway. Tromsø.
Not shire I came by bus
The nearest bus stop is on Kyrres Gate near the Radisson Blu Hotel Norge. It takes about 3 minutes to walk thee from the Scandic Byparken. There are bus departures every day of the week at 03:30, 04:05, 04:50, 05:35, 06:05 (after which times depend on the day of the week). For an 07:30 flight I would aim for the 05:35 departure as it takes 30 minutes roughly to the airport. You can book on the web and the ticket is valid for any bus on that day (or pay the driver, which costs slightly more).
Hi Olivia. The best was to reach the hotel is the airport express bus.'Festplassen' is the name of the stop closest to the hotel. Just tell the driver before you board and he will inform when you reach there.
We had the same itinerary as you did for the Norway in a nutshell tour. The central station is a few minutes (approx 900m) walk from the hotel.
The breakfast is served quite early. From 6-10am I think but I am not too sure. But I do remember we had our breakfast and reached the station around 8.30am. Try to reach the station asap since the train is already there people start occupying the places.
Enjoy your trip.
