Nestled in Bergen's historic Bryggen district, the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel garners praise for its prime location and Scandinavian design. Guests appreciate the spacious, clean rooms with comfortable beds, though some lament the noise, poor views, and occasional overheated conditions.
While the amenities generally meet expectations, including a good breakfast, critiques arise regarding overpricing and inconsistent service. Travelers have also called out disturbances from loud music and construction, indicating that peace and quiet might be compromised.

Detailed Reviews
The hotel is located in a central location within easy walking distance to the airport Flybus stop. We had 3 rooms booked here for one night before we boarded our ship. The hotel rooms are small but average for much of Europe. The rooms were clean, comfortable, modern and well appointed.
There is free wifi available. Wifi range is very good and even usable when across the bay. The central area is an easy walk to sightsee or shop.
If you are boarding a Hurtigruten ship there is a bus that picks up passengers directly from this hotel, although it is not a free transfer for booked passengers.
We didn't know in advance about booking the transfer, and the driver took us anyway after photographing our booking confirmation. I haven't been charged yet so I don't know the cost.
The breakfast was included with our rooms. A very large variety was offered. Everything was prepared well and none in our party of 6 had any complaints. Check out time is noon and reception allowed us to store our luggage until our afternoon departure.
The staff was friendly, helpful and everyone spoke English.

The “extra good breakfast” seems to be a scam. You should also be prepared to not get a double bed even if you pre-pay for a superior room with several extras (via booking.com). Seems like the cheapest superior-option would have been identical and thus a much better money-value option.

I really wanted to like this hotel given its amazing position on the Bryggen in Bergen, but upon arrival we were given a room which was like a travel in ( budget hotel ) in the uk, I have stayed in Radisson Blu before and been very impressed.
The corridor to the room has filthy carpets which had items of rubbish on that were still there on our last check out day three days later.
The room itself had two single beds in which were nicely mde up and a small hanging area for clothes but the room just seemed dirty so we did not unpack for the duration we were there.
The room has coffee making facilities which looked like they had been there a while, all crumpled and random, no milk Powered or longlife would have been great!
The fridge in room need a good clean as had other peoples food crumbs in it.
The light fitting button had been pushed through so dangerous to touch.
Breakfast...
Breakfast was included in the price but did put me off when the dirt from the light started falling onto the breakfast table.
Public toilets in lobby....
The toilets were a disgrace, feaces and toilet roll smeared all over and the cleaner was pottering around outside so no excuse as Im sure this was not just a one off occasion.
Plus points...
Beds were comfortable
Airport bus stopped right outside if needed

Thank you for bringing this to our attention, We're delighted to know that you were pleased with the bed, the convenience that the airport shuttle brought and that the location of the hotel worked perfectly for you. On the other hand, it saddens us to hear if you weren't completely satisfied with your stay due to the condition and cleanliness of the hotel, the room and some of its amenities and to the other issues you encountered at that time. It is our top priority to provide our valued guests with the maximum satisfaction and we're sorry if we may have failed to hit the mark of excellence on that matter. Your feedback is highly beneficial to us as it helps us ensure that the quality of the services that we offer are up to brand standards. Hoping that you will give us another chance to redeem ourselves and provide you with the stay that is truly excellent in all aspects.

+1
We stayed here for 6 nights in a queen superior room.
Pros
Airport bus stops off right in front of hotel. Location is Bryggen if reserving tickets online
Great central location for tourist activities
Yummy ice cream store right around the corner
Can buy Bergen card from reception
Great buffet with lots of hand sanitizer on all the buffet tables. The hot food was great. You can also order off the menu which is included in breakfast cost
Big room and bathroom
Friendly staff
Lots of groceries there is one across the front and one in back behind the church. Buy your Norwegian chocolate there. Much cheaper than tourist stores.
Cons
No a/c if it gets too hot. Windows did open
Bathroom shower was crazy. The one door didn’t go down to the floor so the water would go all over. We had to spread towels on the floor. Bathrooms need more lighting.

We chose this hotel because of its situation, in the Bryggen area of the city. Could not fault the location, which meant that we could easily walk to any of the main attractions and areas of the city. As to the hotel itself, it is a typical, large corporate hotel and it was extremely busy with cruise ship passengers which made it incredibly noisy. This also impacted breakfast, as we were ushered into the back part of the restaurant because the rest of the room was totally full, and waited for a long time for somebody to come and take our order (there is a buffet selection and also a small menu on each table from which you can select various items) but nobody ever came. We gave up and went to the buffet. This was about an hour before the breakfast service was due to end, and there were already some items that had run out. I asked a member of the waiting staff when these items were going to be replenished, but was told that there was no more available. This is quite simply not good enough planning - the management knew how many guests were in-house and adequate planning should have been in place.

I was staying at this hotel in just after covid restrictions was applied.
Breakfast was ordered at a counter.
The young fellow putting up food on the plate had rubber gloves on. I sa him cleaning around with glaves on.
When he came to serve, he was grabbing my omelett with his dirty rubber gloves, slamming the omellette on a plate.
I asked him why he grammed the food with dirty hands. He said "we need to work fast here".
I left the breakfast and left the hotell without breakfast.
Terrible experience.

We were booked into the Radisson Blu prior to our ocean cruise and it was delightful. It is located right on the edge of the harbor in a line of historic buildings. The hotel is well furnished and offers great food and beverage choices. After many hours of flying the bar is a welcome sight and food is available in both the bar and restaurant (good meals in both!). The common areas are relaxing and the staff is helpful, and the prices if you are making reservations on your own are rmarkable for what you get. The rooms are nicely furnished and beds are comfortable.

Unfortunately we only stayed at the Radisson Blu for 1 night, and that was on Christmas Eve, so everything were closed. Our rooms were large and had everything we needed, including nice Nespresso coffee. We had dinner in the restaurant which was lovely. This hotel is located in the Unesco area and therefore next door to a number of beautiful shops. If you love Christmas gift shopping there is a 3 floor Christmas gift shop about 100 to 200 meters away from the hotel. At about 6pm all the church bells started ringing and this is a memory that will stay with my parents and I. We could open a window and listen to this.
This hotel should definitely be considered as an option when you stay in Bergen and want to be in the historic part of town. It is also a short walk from the funicular, which we visited at the start of our trip. It also took our taxi less than 30 minutes from the Hurtigruten boat at the end of our trip

We did not stay at the hotel but enjoyed the breakfast buffest as walk-in visitors. Tickets at 219 NOK must be bought at the reception and they were worth every penny. The buffet offered a wide range og beautifully presented types of food. Juices and coffees delicious. The decor is serene and classy and the waiters helpful and cheerful. You can order 5-6 dishes from the menu on top of tree access to the sumptuous buffet. Very popular judgining from the crowds on this Saturday monring.
