I like the modern twist on the deco styling in the hotel, the lobby and bars are nice
Room 853 had a good view over the fountain at the back
Upon check in the staff were friendly and gave the kids a bear each-nice touch
The room was modern and spacious and the kids were happy there.
The Jensen c2 bed was firm and comfortable
You can see through the bathroom into the room with a small window
The round mirror in the room had a small crack in it which i guess was done during the install
All the staff I had interactions with were friendly and helpful.
The breakfast was good quality but on Sunday the staff tell me to arrive before 10am or it gets very busy! The place where the Food is laid out is a Little cramp
My breakfast cappuccino was good from the machine!
It’s the nicest hotel I have stayed in Bergen but it is expensive, it seems to be in in place for a champagne lunch.
We paid 3200kr for a night
Hotel has umbrellas for kids as well which was fun for them
Car park below has limited spaces. 250kr for 24hrs
Top tip the thermostat for the room is next to the bed on left the small minimalist black box(seepic)!
We really loved the central location, not in the busiest part of the city but really close and walkable enough to Bryggen and the Fish Market. Within two blocks are great restaurant and shopping places. It is also just a few minutes away from the central Bergen Station, making it a great base for Bergen and day trips.
The Hotel is located in the city centre with both the airport bus stop and train/tram end stop just a stones throw from the hotel front door. The bus cost 200nok each and took about half an hour and the train/tram was 40nok and took 45 minutes.
On our first stay we were overlooking the square outside the hotel entrance and the rooms, whilst quite small, were ok for our needs and provided two single beds pushed together. On our second stay we were on the opposite side of the hotel in much smaller rooms consisting of just a double bed - curious given we seemed to be paying a higher rate midweek versus the lower weekend rate from the first stay.
As other reviews have mentioned there is no air conditioning and the rooms are very warm despite cooler weather outside but the worst part is the unbearable music coming from a bar just outside the hotel which blasts out a heavy baseline in to the early hours. Once through until 2am and then the second evening through until 3:30am. Any chance of sleep is sadly just a dream. This noise is particularly noticeable on the backside of the hotel although you could hear even in the front rooms.
This is clearly a known problem as several guests were complaining about it in the morning and the staff at the front desk were very aware of the issues with the noise. Refunds and discounts given with not much resistance is at least a small saving grace but sadly the experience gave a sour end to an otherwise nice vacation.
Norway and Bergen are amazing. This hotel not so much if you value getting any sleep
"Avoid rooms on the backside of the hotel to the entrance if you want sleep, or don’t try to sleep before 4am"Read full review
"Don’t go to bed before 2:00 am. Noise from club will keep you awake. It is a pounding base all night long and drinks yelling in the street. "Read full review
