Hotel Norge by Scandic enjoys a prime spot in central Bergen, celebrated by guests for its easy access to attractions and transport. The hotel's chic decor and cleanliness receive commendations, particularly the well-kept rooms and pool area. However, the experience is sometimes lessened by noise from local nightlife and the size and climate control of the rooms. While the extensive breakfast and beautiful views are highlights, travelers express dissatisfaction with the value, pointing to steep room rates and extra charges for amenities, including the pool. Service reviews are mixed, highlighting both commendable staff interactions and instances of neglect.

Stayed for four nights in this hotel on a visit to Bergen. The staff were exceptionally welcoming and helpful, organising an early check in for me, and storing my bags on the day of departure. The room was spacious and had all the amenities you needed. My one criticism is that whilst the room had an iron, there was no ironing board - I'm sure this would be provided on request, but seemed a little odd. I had booked a balcony room which was great, although the weather meant that it was of limited use. The onsite gym is well equipped with a mix of both cardio and weights. The breakfast is amazing - a huge buffet with a selection of hot and cold options. Downstairs Cafe Norge provides a modest menu and the food presentation and quality is excellent. The waitress was very helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend this hotel to others and if I'm back in Bergen I would not hesitate to stay again.

Dear Ian, We are happy to receive your positive feedback. This is what we live for and why we come to work every morning. Hope to see you at Hotel Norge again soon! We offer irons and ironing boards in all guest rooms. The iron is always available in the commode drawer in the room, and the iron board is hung on the back of the mirror. We look forward to welcoming you again at Hotel Norge. With best regards, Shaima and the rest of the Hotel Norge team

I read a lot of bad reviews on this hotel before I came but was really surprised how good it was.

I like the modern twist on the deco styling in the hotel, the lobby and bars are nice

Room 853 had a good view over the fountain at the back

Upon check in the staff were friendly and gave the kids a bear each-nice touch

The room was modern and spacious and the kids were happy there.

The Jensen c2 bed was firm and comfortable

You can see through the bathroom into the room with a small window

The round mirror in the room had a small crack in it which i guess was done during the install

All the staff I had interactions with were friendly and helpful.

The breakfast was good quality but on Sunday the staff tell me to arrive before 10am or it gets very busy! The place where the Food is laid out is a Little cramp

My breakfast cappuccino was good from the machine!

It’s the nicest hotel I have stayed in Bergen but it is expensive, it seems to be in in place for a champagne lunch.

We paid 3200kr for a night

Hotel has umbrellas for kids as well which was fun for them

Car park below has limited spaces. 250kr for 24hrs

Top tip the thermostat for the room is next to the bed on left the small minimalist black box(seepic)!

Really nice, clean, trendy hotel in a Bergen historic landmark. Love the interiors, showing off classic Nordic style with luxurious touch. Our room was on the 9th floor with floor to ceiling windows and view of the park, lake and the mountain. Inside the room, we have a nice sitting area and an extra sofa bed. There was a Nespresso machine which we used everyday. The heated bathroom floors and power and USB outlets all around the room were a nice touch. Breakfast buffet featuring traditional Nordic and continental dishes were one of the best we’ve had.
We really loved the central location, not in the busiest part of the city but really close and walkable enough to Bryggen and the Fish Market. Within two blocks are great restaurant and shopping places. It is also just a few minutes away from the central Bergen Station, making it a great base for Bergen and day trips.

Hotel Norge was «The Hotell». We loved to stay there in the city centre. Then it was closed for rehabilitation for approx 2 years. When it reopen we booked a room again and looked forward to a nice week end. During the Covid period we expected some problems due to the pandemic. Unfortunately we had to use a wheel chair, but the room was so small that this wheel chair was impossible to use inside the room. «We will give you a better room next time», they told us. This stay is «next time». Luckily we have replaced the wheel chair with a crutcer. But it is still difficult to walk. I think that is the reason for giving us a room far away from the elevator? We slept well during the night. Then someone knocked several time on the door. I was undressed, but I supposed that something emergency was going on an opened the door: «Do you need towels for tomorrow?», a lady asked me. How stranged. After an excellent breakfast we went out for a day trip. We made opp our beds, and we asked for a new bulb in the lamp as it is rather difficult to read in darknes. Well, we arrived the room in the afternoon. Nothing was done. No light replacement, no litter was removed. When you pay almost NOK 6000,- for a two nights stay you expect more from «The Hotell»😕😕. So I think we will say good by and find another hotel in Bergen next time. I dislike to say this, because we always loved this place, but during our two last stays we have been very dissapointed.

It was a great stay! We stayed over the weekend of a marathon, it was a completely full hotel but it was very well organized. Breakfast was great, although we felt like all the guests were there at the same time, there are smaller more quiet nooks to go and sit and enjoy the meal. The beds were super comfy. The view over the square was awesome. There was a man with an accordion playing on the street outside and the music made its way in through our window. It was so great. The square was busy throughout Saturday night but the windows were well insulated and sound-proof. The bathroom had a great rain shower with shampoo and conditioner, as well as body cream. there were enough crispy clean white towels that were replaced and the room was neatened up during breakfast.

Wonderfull stay during Easter break with the family. It was our first time in Bergen and the hotel choice couldn't be better, just right at the city center near everything. We did park at the Hotel parking (for a daily fee) and never used the car since we did rent electric Scooter to go around the city (they are spread everywhere the city). Spacious room and fantastic breakfast. Unfortunately due to Covid swimming pool was closed, we'll be glad to use it next stay. Google chromecast wasn't working at the room however the staff quickly solved the issue.

Spent 3 nights in November 2022 here with my partner. Small room with no view but the room was clean and stylish with very comfy bed. Hotel is very Norwegian and has a lovely feel about it. Spa was very quiet when we visited and cost 195nok each. The breakfast is one of the best I have ever experienced - my advice would be to get in early - especially at the weekends as it gets very very busy.
The Hotel is located in the city centre with both the airport bus stop and train/tram end stop just a stones throw from the hotel front door. The bus cost 200nok each and took about half an hour and the train/tram was 40nok and took 45 minutes.

Stayed here for 1 night in January during a work trip to Bergen. Room was lovely and modern, the floor to ceiling windows ensured you had a great view too! Breakfast was great with so many options and I loved how pretty the main reception was. Would definitely stay here again when I next visit!

This is a very large hotel run by Scandic and if you have stayed in one before, you will know that it is Scandic. Conveniently located centrally in Bergen with a parking garage underneath it. Note that you pay for the parking on exit, not via the hotel. The room was very nicely decorated and the beds were very comfortable. Unfortunately, the wifi was really bad, hardly worked, not even in the reception area. The room and bathroom were very clean. There is a minibar but it was not cold and since we were only staying one night we did not bother having it fixed. The room was very warm, no AC and since the street below was full of partying people it was not an option to open the window. This was a Friday night and would perhaps not have been a problem on a weekday night. Extremely good breakfast buffet with everything you could possibly want! It also opened at 7 AM also on a Saturday which was convenient for us since we had a long drive ahead of us. Our room was on the 3rd floor, ie same floor as the reception so we did not need to take the lift but liked that you have to have a key card to enter the corridor to the rooms. All in all a conveniently located hotel good for a stopover in Bergen.

Dear Mia, Thank you so much for taking the time to review Hotel Norge by Scandic! We are very happy to hear that you had such a good stay, and that you were so pleased with our location in the heart of Bergen. It was also nice to read that the bed were comfortable and nicely decorated . I am sorry to hear that the were technical problems with the room ventilation system that made the room air warm and that the Wi-Fi wasn't working properly. I can ensure you that i have forward your feedback to the team to investigate internally and avoid this from happening again. Thank you for bringing this to our attention and giving us an opportunity to be better. We are happy to see that you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you again soon! We stayed twice at Hotel Norge to bookend a holiday. Location wise the hotel is good as it is central to Bergen and very easy to walk to most areas. The breakfast, which is included, was very good with plenty of options - although very crowded at weekends. The hotel itself presents itself as a high-end location but unfortunately looks can be deceiving.

On our first stay we were overlooking the square outside the hotel entrance and the rooms, whilst quite small, were ok for our needs and provided two single beds pushed together. On our second stay we were on the opposite side of the hotel in much smaller rooms consisting of just a double bed - curious given we seemed to be paying a higher rate midweek versus the lower weekend rate from the first stay.

As other reviews have mentioned there is no air conditioning and the rooms are very warm despite cooler weather outside but the worst part is the unbearable music coming from a bar just outside the hotel which blasts out a heavy baseline in to the early hours. Once through until 2am and then the second evening through until 3:30am. Any chance of sleep is sadly just a dream. This noise is particularly noticeable on the backside of the hotel although you could hear even in the front rooms.

This is clearly a known problem as several guests were complaining about it in the morning and the staff at the front desk were very aware of the issues with the noise. Refunds and discounts given with not much resistance is at least a small saving grace but sadly the experience gave a sour end to an otherwise nice vacation.

Norway and Bergen are amazing. This hotel not so much if you value getting any sleep

I used a guided tour, but it looks like there are options for bus and/or tram or trolley to get there. Line 1 is probably the most direct route, if you are able to do a bit of walking at the Troldhagen end. To be sure, I would ask hotel staff for assistance in planning the journey.
