Bergen Bors Hotel garners acclaim for its prime location and immaculate cleanliness, with many guests especially impressed by the pristine bathrooms featuring heated floors. The service at this hotel often receives high praise for the staff's attentiveness, although there have been occasional mentions of delays. While the Frescohallen restaurant's breakfast is a hit, some guests have called out the rooms for their limited size and lack of modern amenities like USB ports. Despite the charm and cleanliness of the rooms, a sentiment of the hotel being overpriced prevails among reviewers.

Bergen Børs claims to be a luxury hotel, but they might be setting the bar a bit too high. We stayed in a historic room, very lovely, and the bathroom was awesome. However, a few details spoiled the impression a bit. The furniture was "modern", but just appeared cheap and not in keeping with the atmosphere. The bedside tables were virtually non-existent, tiny glass circles, the one with the phone on did not have room for anything else. The rooms were equipped with delicious soaps and creams from Fitjar Islands, but the bottles are big, and there are too many of them in the room. I suspect they don't let the bottles empty rather than filling them up as they go. Thus, the lotions in particular, became rancid, leaving a rank smell to what is usually among my favourite products. Maybe minor details, but they do set the scene.
The kicker, however, was when I tried calling reception before going to bed. From the hotel phone it just rang a couple of times before I was disconnected. When calling the hotel from my own phone, there was no answer. So I went down, only to find the receptionist on what I can only assume was a private call. The only conclusion I can draw from this is that customers and guests are left hanging because staff is to busy with personal stuff. Discussions about hang overs were also overheard in the lobby. Lovely hotel in many aspects, but all in all not quite up to standard.

Dear valued guest, We want to thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. We are indeed working on becoming the perfect hotel for all future guests, but we need honest reviews in order to improve and become the best, which is exactly why we appreciate your honest feedback. It is so sad to read that our Scandinavian design did not meet your standards - we have used very professional designers in order to have a minimalist, yet appealing and inviting style in all our rooms. Regarding the soaps, we will bring this further to our housekeeping manager, so that she can review this matter. We are so sorry about the inconvenience regarding the phone call. We have a strict policy on private calls while at work. If this was the case, we will make sure it never happens again, as this is something we will discuss with the team as we speak. We do our best to make our guests feel welcomed and at ease. We are very grateful for your review, as this is something we will use to grow and become better. It is our pleasure to welcome you back to us. We want to prove to you that staying with us is the right choice. Please let us know if you ever decide to visit again, and we will make sure you have an amazing stay. Have a beautiful week and stay safe! Best regards, Rinat

I spent 3 nights at Bergen Børs; a hotel I called “my new favourite hotel in Bergen” the last time I reviewed it. This time around it didn’t blow me away.

Last time I got an upgrade to a spacious room – this time I had a basic double room. The problem was that it wasn’t just the room size that was declining – the room was not very well maintained, the carpet was “dirty” and there were stains from coffee cups on the night stand. The cleaners has not been very thorough either (the mini fridge was downright dirty) – but the bathroom was spotless.

The hotel (and surroundings) were very quiet, WiFi worked perfectly, and check-in was a breeze. Breakfast was good and plentiful – with amazing view to Fløyen and the city. I especially LOVED the homemade leverpostei (liver pâté) – it was delicious!

The hotel is centrally located at Fisketorget, with only a few minutes’ walk to e.g. Fløyen and other tourist attractions. There’s a REMA1000 and KIWI (grocery stores) only 50m from the entrance, and the airport bus stops right outside the hotel. The staff was super attentive, and gave the little “extra” to make the stay more enjoyable.

Would stay here again, and hope to give raving reviews again very soon.

Dear valued guest, Thank you so much for the review. We are so happy our facilities and homemade liver pate met your standards! We would love the recipe, but the rumors say it's secret! We're absolutely delighted with our location - our guests love that everything is a stone's throw away! On another note; It breaks our hearts to read about the lack of cleanliness in the room you were handed - know that this was absolutely not intended in any way, and we take these matters very seriously. We hope the front office agents offered you a good compensation, as this would be the least we could have done for you at the time. This will be sent to our housekeeping manager for further review, that we can assure you. Please accept our sincere apologies, and let us make it up to you on your next visit. Thanks once again for taking the time to review your stay in such a detailed way - we appreciate every word, and we look forward to welcoming you again! Have an amazing week and stay safe! Best regards, Rinat

The hotel is refurbished to a very high standard with lovely rooms, and is perfectly located in the centre of Bergen. We found it easy to get to and from the airport thanks to the airport bus service which drops you right outside the hotel.
The room comes equipped with a coffee machine, TV and safe and there are also coffee machines in reception and a lounge that hotel guests can use throughout the day. We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful, especially in reception as we had some travel troubles during our trip which the team helped us with.
Next time we're in Bergen we would definitely stay at the Bergen Bors again.

We went into this hotel twice; once before our trip to Flåm, and one after. We had two different experiences and left the hotel quite bittersweet.

We checked into our rooms after carrying our large bags up the stairs to the lobby during the rain, so we appreciated that the process was quick and efficient. The receptionist was quite helpful, though very Norwegian, in a sense; she seemed very reserved but efficient. The room itself was good the first time we were there, as it was a suite. It had large and comfy beds and a large bathroom with heated floors. Furthermore, the room felt fresh and new, though was quite dim. The second time we were there, we booked a family room thinking it was bigger, however it was not. Furthermore, a staff who came into our room said that we should ask the receptionists for a larger family room. Apparently there are size differences for the same category room? That seems odd.

The breakfast in this hotel was quite good for Norwegian standards, with plenty of hot foods available. The dining room had a relaxed atmosphere and was nice to be in. Furthermore, they provided a coffee machine in the lobby and at the 4th level lounge. While the lounge is a good concept, in practice they would never clean the cups during the day and as a result, there were so many used cups in the lounge. Furthermore, we saw a man sleeping (laying down on a sofa) in the lounge, which was slightly odd to see in this type of hotel.

Though, with its' easy access to the Galleriet mall, lots of restaurants and sights to see, it is worth the while to consider if the price is right. I think that this hotel should try to fix some of the issues to make the customer experience much better.

Bergen Bors is a really well appointed hotel in the Bergen city centre, near to the harbour, transport and attractions. Hotel fit out is modern and well maintained, the complimentary breakfast is good.
A couple of minor complaints to consider:
- we specifically asked for a quiet room after seeing this as a review complaint, the quiet room wasn’t particularly quiet though due to noise from the street outside.
- room lighting design is dark and moody, which is great until you need to find something in your suitcase at night
- window shutters open automatically when you put key card into the wall switch but there is no way to close them again to fend off outside noise and light.

Oh, watch out for the wall mounted tv right beside the bed, my wife got a nasty cut to her head when getting out of bed and hitting corner of the tv.

Dear guest, Thank you so much for taking the time to write us this review. I truly appreciate your feedback. We work continuously to have our guests enjoy a comfortable stay at Bergen Børs Hotel and every review is valuable to my staff and me. I am truly sorry that you did not find your stay with us to the standard you expected and for the noise outside. We try at the best of our abilities to solve the issue at hand. Unfortunately, we have experienced that some parts of the building have rooms that will not be noisy if you open the windows. The city center is quite busy, however the rooms against the back yard is always quiet. I am truly sorry to hear about your wife bumping her head into the TV! I hope the cut was not too deep. I would love to know what room this was, so we can adjust the location of the TV. I do hope that you will consider visiting us again, and that your next stay will be at the level of comfort and personal service, we pride ourselves in giving. Please contact me directly at Camilla@bergenbors.no for your next visit to Bergen. Then I will personally make sure that you get a nice and quiet room and that you will have a wonderful stay. All the best, Camilla Hotel Manager

We had high hopes for this hotel but it didn’t live up to its reputation.

The room we got was 80°F when we checked in and we were assured it would quickly go down to something more reasonable. The hotel doesn’t have air conditioning and we didn’t think it would but they had left the drapes opened all day to the sun streaming in and the heat built up. After a three hour wait, with drapes shut against the sun and the windows open it hadn’t moved. No air came in even though outside it was in 73°F. They finally moved us to the next room which while still very warm was better.

The next morning we headed down to the buffet breakfast. We had been traveling in Norway by car now for 9 days and had stayed in 5 places with different price points. All of the breakfasts in the places we had stayed had terrific buffets with lots of options and interesting foods. This place had none. No fried eggs, empty jam containers (we ate at 8 and they opened at 7), no herring or salmon, one kind of bread. The scrambled eggs were simply mush. The bacon was sitting in a deep pool of bacon fat. The tables weren’t bussed and therefore no place to sit. No salt and pepper available. No water for the table. I could go on. Very disappointing.

Worst place on the whole 3 week trip. Avoid.

While this is definitely a beautiful hotel in a great location, the value is just not there. We stayed in a room on the top floor which is very spacious but had terrible lighting. I asked if we could get the lighting fixed or a floor lamp put into the room, but despite a promise nothing happened. The room does have a Nespresso machine, but no tea kettle.

I had also asked for help making reservations for New Year's Eve and was promised a table at their restaurant, only to be told upon arrival that no table was available. Nobody seemed to care to ask the person who emailed me for details.

The lock to our door also doesn't work, and when asked if it could fixed, nothing happened.

The breakfast is not bad, but I found it disappointing that they do not serve espresso drinks. Every other hotel we stayed at in Norway offered this, and for that price I would expect this. To be honest, this really bothered me.

We also asked for an umbrella when it was raining, and they were out. One would think that a luxury hotel in a town where it rains a lot could afford to purchase more umbrellas.

The gym is also quite disappointing, just a small & packed room with a couple of cardio machines and weights. Most people will probably not find this gym particularly useful.

Finally, the "Do Not Disturb" signs for the doors are very confusing. The sign has two sides that look almost identical, but note that one side asks for cleaning whereas the other asks not to be disturbed. It's easy to mix them up if you don't pay attention.

Not a bad stay, but didn't live up to my expectations.

Dear guest, Thank you for this feedback. Without your feedback we can never do things better. I'm sorry to hear that you didn't get a floor lamp for your room. We do know that some of our rooms are a little to dark.. The room does have a Nespresso machine, but the machine also provides hot water. I'm sorry to hear that you were not able to attend our New Year's eve dinner.. Very strange that you were promised and not given a table.. I'm sorry to hear that.. And that should of course not happen. The locks on the doors does not lock before 60 seconds (because of fire Security) The breakfast do serve espresso drinks for an extra charge. When it comes to the umbrellas, we have had some trouble getting as many as we need.. And because of the wind in our city almost all of them gets broken.. Hope to see you again, so that we can make a better impression Best Regards Susann Front Desk

Let’s get started from the beginning
At arrival my pre booked room was not available??? They have taken my payment as a regular practice...
So My Wife and I were put in a horrible room with a great view to the ventilation system, horrible all open bathroom.
After complaints we were upgrade to a better room But my wife was not able to dry her hair because electrical brakes shout down power happened more than 3 times.
Breakfast was really good
Personal friendly
When we were checking out we were ask to provide a credit card again.
I was charged the full amount again to my credit card Meaning twice, double charge
I have complained right on the spot they said the money will be reimbursed but four days later no money yet in my bank
I have called them and surprised they can not fine my record not even the I was in the Hotel for 3 night
So my funds are in a limbo
Let see how all this mess develops

Dear Gabe, First of all; thank you so much for taking the time to paint such a detailed image of your recent stay with us. Please accept our sincere apologies. We are normally known for our exceptional attention to details. Having said that, we hope you can understand our regret for missing that mark during your stay. Due to reasons regarding security around our payment system, we ask all our guests to authorize their credit cards in our card machine. In rare cases, the authorized amount can freeze, but this is simply an issue connected to one of our card machine providers. We are so sorry this happened during your stay - know that we would never do this intentionally, and that we take these matters very seriously. Any incident regarding credit cards, we try to fix as soon as possible, so please contact us directly. In order to fix this issue, we will need to know which name this specific reservation was linked to. When it comes to our rooms, we have 127 of them - 9 different categories. Many of the rooms have beautiful views; some towards the mountains, some are facing the city and others are facing the wonderful Bryggen Harbor. We are so sorry for not being able to hand you one of these rooms. These rooms are quite popular and are booked regularly, so this was most likely linked to the lack of occupancy. We would love to make it up to you by giving you several options for your next visit, but please let us know in advance, as our higher category rooms are often prebooked. We kindly ask you to either send us a personal message or to call us. We would love to apologize to you further and explain the electrical situation. Please know that all the incidents you faced during your stay were 100% unintended, and that we strive to create a perfectly-balanced and safe environment for all our guests. Once again, please accept our apologies. We wish nothing but the best for you, and we would love to make it up to you. Have an awesome weekend, stay safe and definitely stay in touch! We will make sure to assist you in every way possible, as well as create a magical experience for your next visit. Best regards, Rinat | 1. Receptionist Bergen Børs Hotel

I spent one night at Bergen Børs; a hotel I called “my new favourite hotel in Bergen” the first time I reviewed it, and “declining awesomeness” the second time. And, unfortunately, it plunged further down this time.

I had a basic double room, and as last time it wasn’t properly cleaned and seemed poorly maintained. I also booked breakfast for 7am (you will be asked to estimate when you’ll eat breakfast when you check in). At 7am nothing was ready – it actually took nearly 20 minutes before everything was in place. And whether you will be offered “proper” coffee by the staff is a 50/50 chance.

The hotel (and surroundings) were very quiet, WiFi worked perfectly, and check-in was a breeze.

The hotel is centrally located at Fisketorget, with only a few minutes’ walk to e.g. Fløyen and other tourist attractions. There’s a REMA1000 and KIWI (grocery stores) only 50m from the entrance, and the airport bus stops right outside the hotel. BUT – the same goes for a number of hotels in Bergen, and I’ll probably try another one next time…

We spent three nights in a Superior Room with view to Bryggen and the harbour. The style and furniture of the room was super elegant but also cosy, so that we felt like home (no, better).
The staff was super friendly and helpful. And the breakfast as well as the historic breakfast location (BARE restaurant & bar) were great and we enjoyed it every morning.
It seemed that the staff took the COVID-19 procedures serious, but also did not overcomplicate it.
The room was nearly perfectly clean, but it was obvious that there was no final check done before we checked-in. Maybe this happened because we checked in on the first day after the hotel had been closed for some days.

Dear Traveler, We are absolutely delighted to read about your stay with us at Bergen Børs Hotel! If you liked our Superior room, you have to try one of our Junior Suites - they not only have a magical view towards the most historical part of Bergen, but they also have some pretty awesome bathrooms - it's almost like being in a spa! Reading about your experience and how much you enjoyed all the facilities the hotel could provide makes us so happy, and we thank you for that. You are more than welcome to return anytime! It would be a pleasure to see you again :-) Have a wonderful day, stay safe and enjoy life to the fullest :-) Best regards, Rinat

How close is this hotel to the airport?
Answer from orwell
New York City, New York44 contributions42 helpful votes
These rooms are tight. Even if they have three people to lie down, the space for luggage and clothing will be tight. I found the feel provided by the decorating to be appealing, but it was modern scandavian and compact/modern. Think new-ish big city hotels and you will likely get the idea. I found the train to be close-ish in that it is an easy walk, but in weather with more than carry-on luggage it (like most places) will be less fun.

Honestly we did not use the bus system while there. This hotel was right in the middle of everything so I couldn’t imagine a bus stop being too far away to be honest. Even the train station was a 7-10 min walk away. Sorry I don’t have an more details for you. Good luck with your travels.
