The Hotel MOTTO is not normall. That's the nice thing! The motto is passion, the fulfillment of a personal dream. Feel this power in every material, at every corner. The historic former Hotel Kummer was restored by Arkan Zeytongolu Architects with great attention to detail, giving French opulence, sophisticated design and hip lifestyle a new stage - in the middle of Vienna. The individual room ideas and the casual atmosphere are an exclusive playground for travelers who are looking for self-determination and individuality. Integrated into the urban life in the 6th district, the guest enters a world of his own. Casual, stylish, queer. The perfectly coordinated interplay of living spaces and gastronomy - with a restaurant-bar, roof terrace and own organic bakery - creates a multi-layered microcosm that makes real luxury tangible. In the middle of the pedestrian zone on Mariahilferstrasse, Vienna's most popular promenade.

Hotel MOTTO garners consistent acclaim for its pristine cleanliness and meticulous attention to detail, with a special nod to its well-insulated and stylishly designed rooms. While regarded as a snug retreat for couples, the hotel is celebrated for its amicable service, despite occasional reports of variability. Great hotel from top to bottom. The rooms are amazing, not large, but every detail has been thought through a from the light bulbs to the shower - everything is beautifully and practically though through.
The lobby and the staff is great as well with the French songs giving great atmosphere during check in…
The bonus of it all is the great rooftop restaurant with great food and cocktails.

We had two nights at Motto and would loved to have stayed for more. We had an Art Deluxe room on the 6th floor. It was a STUNNING room, we never really got enough of the decor and thought that had gone into designing it. It was clean and luxurious (even the kettle looked brand new). The door/windows kept all sounds out from the street below, totally soundproof. Bed was so comfy and I’m a fussy sleeper, but slept like a log! Literally only issue with room being my bedside lamp was flickering like a disco. Reception staff were so so helpful and nice, really rate them highly. You can chat with them on WhatsApp which is handy. Bar on the rooftop was beautiful and relaxing - I found the female server quite abrupt, the male server was lovely. Never got round to having breakfast or meal at Motto, which was a shame. Really close to an underground station and a handy street of shops outside. Half hour walk down to the old part. The beauty of this hotel was beyond even what the photos show. It’s gorgeous.

We really enjoyed our stay here. We booked a Jr Suite with a balcony and it was by far the best room we had during our 2 week European trip. The hotel is super romantic and is designed very tastefully. The doors around the elevator staircases and those leading into the room however were ridiculously heavy though. They required a lot of muscle to operate.

Location of the hotel is perfect and there is a metro stop a few steps from the front entrance. We had no trouble getting around town.

Front desk staff were outstanding, particularly Nikita. He gave us great advice on what to do and where to eat. The rooftop bar service however wasn't as nice. Very cold service with no smiles when we visited at 4PM.

We dined at Chez Bernard. Service was great there. Only complaint was being charged for bread we didn't order. Something as simple as bread should be complimentary for a restaurant of that class and it cheapened the experience. The bread was good though but the way they charged for something we didn't order left a very bad impression.

If you stay here, splurge for the Jr Suite. I will likely return again if they fine tune some of the service shortcomings. It's a great hotel with lots of potential.

I was so looking forward to this hotel, but was deeply disappointed.
They have no telephones in the room, but network coverage is bad so it’s difficult to speak to staff.
No room service is offered, although you’re allowed to take out food from the restaurant; shame the restaurant denied me to order because they were busy.
The room itself is pleasant enough but on the small side.
Location is OK

Dear Ariel, We are sorry to hear about your disappointing experience at our hotel. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the lack of telephones in the room and the poor network coverage. We offer our guests the option to communicate with us via WhatsApp, as we have made a conscious decision not to have telephones in the rooms. This decision was based on the fact that 99% of our guests travel with their own mobile phones. Upon arrival, our guests receive our WhatsApp number and can contact the front desk 24/7. We apologize if this information was not provided to you during your stay. We appreciate your feedback and will ensure better communication in the future. We regret that you were unable to order from our restaurant due to high demand, and we will work on improving our service during busy times. We appreciate your comments and will strive to make necessary improvements for a better stay next time. Best regards,

We arrived on 2 (expensive) light race bikes and the first thing we heared from reception was not a warm welcome but a harsh “we cannot store your bikes in the hotel and they cannot go in your room “ They told us we could leave them outside on the street or in the railway station 1,2 km away. We thought it was a joke but they were dead serious. After a few calls and an hour later we found a safe place to store the bikes. (BTW, the room was more than big enough to easily put 2 race bikes without damaging anything).

Dear Guest, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We regret that your initial impression upon arrival was not a positive one. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience you experienced regarding the storage of your race bikes. We would have been pleased to discuss alternative storage options with you beforehand to ensure a more satisfactory solution for your needs. As part of our policy, due to the high quality of our interior furnishings, we generally do not allow bicycles to be stored in guest rooms. This policy helps us maintain the standard and condition of our rooms for all guests. We hope that despite this, you were able to enjoy your stay and appreciate your understanding on this matter. We look forward to the opportunity to welcome you back and provide a better experience in the future. Kind regards, Stefanie

There is a reason this hotel is rated #1 on trip advisor for special hotels in Vienna. We first heard about this new hotel in Travel & Leisure Magazine recommending new hotels that won't break the bank! The 4 of us booked 2 deluxe rooms overlooking Mariahilfer Strasse. We arrived and were greeted by Sandra who checked us in. It was raining upon arrival and we had just come in via the train around noon and Sandra was able to arrange an early check in for us in 2 connecting rooms. After checking us in she offered us each a glass of champagne and then sat down with us in the lobby and explained everything about the hotel and the area and how to get around. What was a real surprise to us is how close the subway station is. You literally walk out the door, turn right, walk 10 steps and you are at the subway. You cannot ask for a better location in Vienna just outside of the Ringstrasse. The restaurant on the top floor is fabulous and we ate there 2 evenings. It's the hopping place in Vienna -and has a great bar and dining scene. Make sure to get reservations. We would definitely stay here our next time in Vienna and will recommend it to all of our friends. Thank you Hotel Motto and Sandra!

If I could give 6 stars I would. The hotel has a Parisian vibe both outside and in the interior decor. I stayed in a beautifully appointed Petit room which was the perfect size for a solo traveller but I think it would be too small for a couple. The hotel is on top of a U-bahn station which makes travelling to other parts of the city a breeze and it’s located near Mariahilferstrasse - a main shopping precinct

I was disappointed that the room hadn’t been fully cleaned with sticky spills around the coffee machine. Moreover stains on the mattress protector were showing through the clean sheet. Pulling up the sheet revealed fresh stains of bodily fluids and body hairs on a dirty mattress protector. When I contacted the hotel via WhatsApp as instructed, I got a surprisingly casual response with a “hey” , no apology and that “someone will take a look at it”. Cleaning staff itself was nice and professional.
And a tip for the open shower concept:
Expect water standing in the entire bathroom for 30min after showering, making it slippery, even though I only turned on half of the water flow. There is no active ventilation, so it’s best to open the window for drying.
Lots of hoops to jump through for a dry floor in the bathroom.

Dear Excursion14192172064, Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your recent stay with us. We are truly sorry to hear about the cleanliness issues you experienced in your room. This is not the standard of service we strive to provide and we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. We have also discussed the topic of communication via WhatsApp with the team again and would like to apologize for the rude communication. We have addressed your concerns with our housekeeping team to ensure that such oversights do not happen again in the future. We appreciate your kind words about our cleaning staff and will pass along your compliments to them. Regarding the open shower concept, we will look into ways to improve the drainage and ventilation in the bathroom to prevent water from standing and creating a slippery surface. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We hope that you will give us another chance to exceed your expectations on your next visit. Best regards,

While touting itself as a quiet hotel with sound proofed rooms I can confirm that this is anything but quiet. While the suites are absolutely stunning they are let down by the fact that they allow private parties to blast out music until the early hours, in a function room that sits above the suites on floor 6. The staff are not interested at all in creating a good nights sleep for guests, which seems to be a theme of most hotels these days. If anybody knows of any truly quiet hotels (merely between the hours of say 11-6) I would love to hear about them.

Dear V2676YK, first of all, thank you very much for your feedback and we are glad, you liked the design of the hotel. We are very sorry that you could hear the noise from above. We do have Parties very rarely and honestly do apologize for the noise. I also have to say that it is not true that our staff is not interested at all in creating a good nights sleep for guests, our staff does care and also always offer a room move when there is a problem (except when we are fully booked and all rooms are occupied). If you decide to come back, we will reserve a room for you in the most quiet part of the hotel, pls just let us know in advance. have a nice week + best regards Fanny
