This was our second visit to the Avlida. The location is just perfect for exploring Paphos on foot and there is plenty of parking for your hire car if, like us, you want to explore more of the island.

Lidl is just a few minutes up the road and there are lots of restaurants and bars in easy walking distance. You can also access the coastal path down to the harbour which is a great walk after an evening meal.

As for Avlida, it is a little tired in places but the staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are cleaned daily and we were never short of fresh towels or toiletries.

We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis and there were plenty of options each day. Although we didn't eat our other meals in the hotel, we did enjoy a drink before bed at the bar. We sat on the sofas in reception and listened to the entertainment most evenings. The bingo was definitely a highlight!

We really enjoyed our stay and will return!

Really great hotel run by the best team I have ever experienced, I would go so far as to say that they are all great friends now. A big shout out to the amazing entertainment team of Cosmin & Yves who worked tirelessly to ensure that all the guests had the best experience, we certainly did. The next shout out goes to the wonderful bar staff George, Manos, Kyum and Chet, all went the extra mile and so so friendly. Also the dining hall, kitchen staff and cleaning teams. Nothing was too much any of them.
The whole team made our Xmas & New Years holiday one that we will never forget. And I so look forward to getting the opportunity to return as soon as possible.

We have just returned home from a great trip to Avlida Hotel. I was a little unsure having read some of the reviews before travelling but can honestly say I’d recommend to others.
We stayed on an all inclusive basis. We found this to be great value for money as it wasn’t much of a step up from B&B or half board. The meal variety was great- breakfast was the same most mornings but plenty of choice (and how much can you vary breakfast really?) but there were plenty of different choices at the lunch and dinner buffets each day. There was also plenty of choice of drinks at the bar with the option to pay extra for some varieties of beer or cocktails.
The hotel was clean and well presented. There were always staff around cleaning and maintaining the hotel. Towels and bed linen were all fresh.
Our room was comfortable and clean. One thing we did find that the walls are quite thin. I always sleep with earplugs anyway so this wasn’t much of an issue for me but would probably recommend packing some.
The hotel is in a great location and within walking distance of the beach, harbour and Old Town and is about 10km from Coral Bay. We chose to walk everywhere but there are regular buses travelling in each direction. Lidl is also a 5 minute walk up the road.
We hired beach towels for the week from reception for a 5 euro deposit each and they can be changed as often as you need.
The pool area has plenty of beds but we found they did fill up quickly on the sunnier days. There is the main pool which is quite lively with music etc and another rooftop pool which was a quieter area. When we couldn’t get a bed there was no issue finding a space on the grass to lay down our towel.
There was entertainment on each evening except for Sunday; a kids entertainer, bingo and then usually a music act. They were all great the bingo caller was very funny.
We arrived late (11pm) and were greeted with a welcome drink as well as some sandwiches and bottles of water as we’d missed the evening meal. Upon check out we weren’t being collected until 7pm but were still able to use the facilities and have meals and drinks until we left. There was the option to pay for a late check out but we didn’t need this.
The staff at this hotel were brilliant. They were all very friendly and welcoming and couldn’t do enough to help- from bar staff, receptionists and catering/waiting staff. There were far too many to name and I couldn’t see everyone’s name badges but many thanks to Thierry, George, Maria, Rafael, Andreas, Chet Ram, Khum and Manos and everyone else for a great week.
I feel as though some of the reviews I read before going were a little unfair. The building isn’t the newest or most modern but we really did get fantastic value for money and we’re happy with the hotel and facilities.

We booked this hotel based on the reviews, however, we wish we paid more attention to the negative ones. Also, be mindful that we were asked to do a review on our first day so I wonder how valid these reviews are - we decided to write on once we got home. Firstly, the hotel is most definitely not a 4 star, it is run down and there are many cons. Outlined below are pros and cons.

Pros:
-The rooms were fairly clean (some stained sheets), and were regularly cleaned throughout our stay.

-The staff were friendly and helpful (most of the time, see cons)

-We enjoyed two entertainment nights in particular - the karaoke was so much fun and so was a jazz/soul performer called Joan/Joanna. The entertainment team worked hard during the day with pool side activities.

Cons:
-The food was not the best, we chose to eat out of the hotel 3/7 nights because of this. The snack options in the day were basic and bland, sandwiches and fruit.

-Drinks tasted ok but the spirits upset our stomachs. You were not provided with bottled water - only ‘filtered water’ in a glass. The pool bar does not open until 10am which is too late considering it was so hot, and you are not allowed to drink or eat brought items from outside in public areas.

-All inclusive was not really all inclusive - you had to pay extra for different, and better, cocktails. Payment was also required for snacks such as crisps and refreshing coffee and tea in the room. People who didn’t book all inclusive and were paying at the hotel, were provided table service and given quicker attention at the bar. This made us feel as though, as all inclusive payers, we were less than

-Reception lack of support- We were put in a very basic, run down, room which had an interconnecting locked door to another room. The noise levels at night was annoying. On one occasion the room next door was really noisy at midnight so we asked reception to speak with the guests. Reception were very hesitant to help and wanted us to manage it ourselves - eventually they stepped in as it is not ours jobs to sort this. We had to wear earplugs a few nights.

-Another example of reception being unhelpful was when we wanted to complain after a very horrible experience of using their recommended taxi service. Reception had little interest in listening to what happened. The taxi driver shouted at us that he is not happy that we were paying in coins (this is not something we knew would be an issue) and called us ‘Gypsies’ in the middle of the street, he was rude and threatening - don’t use ‘Kings Taxis’ when using this hotel, find an alternative.

Dear Guest, We appreciate your feedback, but we must clarify several points made in your review, which we believe are unfounded and exaggerated. Firstly, we take pride in our 4-star rating and the quality of our facilities. Your claim that the hotel is run down is not reflective of the experiences of the majority of our guests. Our rooms are regularly maintained and cleaned to high standards, and any issues with cleanliness should have been reported immediately to our staff. Regarding our food and beverage offerings, we provide a diverse menu that caters to various tastes. While we understand that not every dish will please every palate, your assertion that the food is "not the best" is subjective and does not represent the feedback we typically receive from our guests. Our all-inclusive package is designed to offer value, and we stand by our offerings, including the variety of cocktails and snacks available. We also find your comments about our reception staff concerning. Our team is trained to assist guests to the best of their ability, and we expect our guests to approach us with respect. Your experience with the taxi service is regrettable, but it is not indicative of our hotel’s standards or the services we recommend. The specific taxi driver has since been dismissed from work. We encourage all guests to communicate any issues directly with us so we can address them appropriately. We hope you will reconsider your views based on the overall experience provided to the majority of our guests. Thank you for your comments, and we wish you well in your future travels. Kind regards, Avlida Hotel

In our opinion, this is not a 4* hotel. Its dated and very tired with little investment to make it comfortable.

Didn’t find the Front desk staff welcoming during Check-in. Killed off the first impression of the hotel. Secondly, the room was not cleaned properly with dust and hair everywhere. We cleaned the floor with the floor towel so we could walk on it. Thought-out our stay, we always wore slippers whilst walking in the room.

Found the Toilet seat was badly stained that we tried to clean. However, the yellow brown stains were permanent. Having raised it with Natalie (Guest Relations), she got the maintenance staff to replace the seat.

Although the room had Tea & Coffee making facilities, any sachets you needed would cost 5 euros even though we were in all inclusive. In addition, the room Safe had a daily charge of 2 Euros.

Food was of a good quality but aimed at UK market. There was always something for everyone to enjoy. The Head Chef (Emad) when present made sure people enjoyed the food and there was something for all to enjoy including vegetarians. However, it was a shame that it lacked more traditional Cypriot dishes that local restaurants if people chose to visit instead.

Waiters in the Dining Hall were always at hand and always greeted with a smile. Big shoutout to Khum who went well beyond and ensure the guests were happy. Which was quite noticeable as other guests complemented him as well.

Drinks in the Bar were the traditional quality you get in All Inclusive. The Bar Staff were hit and miss. However, to have a drink in the Lobby before 6PM, you had to go to the pool bar to get it since the Lobby didn't open until after the Pool bar shut.

Overall, the hotel location was good and easy to get to places. It’s just a shame about the hotel as we were expecting a good 4-star hotel. In our opinion, it’s more of a 2/3-star hotel.

I would say Improve the cleanliness, remove the unnecessary additional charges such as safe & tea/Coffee sachets, add water bottle fillers, keep the lobby bar open during daytime and also show a bit of welcoming hospitality. You alreday have good Chef, great waiters and Bar staff.

These little changes will make Alvida into good 4* hotel even though the place is abit dated.

Dear valued guest, We are disappointed to hear about your experience at our hotel. We take all feedback seriously and strive to provide the best possible experience for our guests. First and foremost, we regret to hear about the issues you encountered with the cleanliness of your room. Our housekeeping team follows a strict schedule to ensure that all rooms are thoroughly cleaned and maintained. It is regrettable that you did not bring these concerns to our attention during your stay so that we could have addressed them immediately. Regarding your comments about the hotel's condition, we would like to clarify that there are numerous photos available online, taken by professional photographers, which accurately depict the hotel's facilities and decor. Additionally, there are also photos taken by other travelers which could have been consulted prior to making a reservation. In terms of the food, we offer a wide variety of options including 12 hot dishes, 8 salads, a variety of dips and sauces, soup, and dessert daily. These are organized in theme nights with a different theme each day of the week. It is most definitely not specifically aimed at the UK or any other market. Its aimed to satisfy our guests. We regret that our offerings did not meet your expectations. We also regret to hear about your interactions with our staff. We take pride in providing excellent customer service and will address your concerns with our team. As for the extra chargeable items, please note that information about such items is available in the public domain and repeated here numerous times. It should not come as a surprise and therefore not be a complaint. It is important to note that your opinion is in the small minority of negative feedback that we receive. However, we will use your comments as an opportunity for improvement. We hope that you will consider giving us another chance in the future to provide you with the experience that the majority of our guests have come to enjoy. Sincerely, [Hotel Management]

The hotel was ok. The food was nice but not a huge selection. What annoyed us the most was my 12 year olds wrist band fell off. Her dad took her to reception to tell them what had happened and the receptionist took it back and said we had to pay €35 for a replacement! They accused her of cutting it off which made him more angry as our daughter doesn’t walk around with scissors or knives! You could clearly see that the wrist band had changed colour to ours and had obviously gone brittle. My partner was fuming with the receptionists and got the customer relations manager involved and eventually after a lot of arguing they replaced it free of charge the paperwork says quite clearly that they charge for lost bands and says nothing about broken ones! Please see picture of the paperwork! After our first few days the bottom pool was so murky you couldn’t see the brightly coloured sinks we got for our daughter to dive down and get and there are no lifeguards so if someone had of been in trouble nobody would’ve of seen them under the water! The best bar man we came across was Khum he was great! Our room was cleaned daily and our pool view was great! Unfortunately I wouldn’t return to this hotel or recommend it to family and friends. The location was good, well worth going to the water park and we went out on a buggy safari with Thunder motorsports just down the road highly recommend that! The beach was just a short walk away and nice! My partner does apologise to the receptionists for how he spoke to them over the band issue but they never needed to accuse our daughter and could of been resolved more professionally on their part!

Stayed here for 2 weeks over Christmas and new year. On arrival I immediately thought typical 70s 80s hotel in need of a major refurbishment. Everywhere you look it looks tired. Floors, walls and furnishings are in desperate need of revamping.

Reception staff were efficient. They had the answers to all my questions and nothing was too much trouble.

I was alone staying in a double room with a balcony and a sea view. Rooms were very nice and spacious. Hairdryer, safe, tv and mini fridge in the main room. Bathroom was nice with a shower over the bath tub which was hot and powerful. Lots of bathroom freebies including small bottles of body and hair wash, sewing kit, two small bars of soap, a few ear buds and eye mask. Every hotel I stay in, I always leave the DND tag on the outside of the door. I always keep my own room clean and tidy and if I want anything for my room I would just see one of the maids who were on your floor with their trollies every day and ask them for anything I needed.

Dining room was very spacious and the staff friendly and efficient wether it was breakfast, lunch or evening meal. The food was very varied at every meal but the quality of the food was not great. Everything was just lukewarm. Nothing was piping hot. Also think there should have been more basic food especially for fussy eaters like myself or children. I found myself at some meals just having chips or rice but if you are not a fussy eater then the food choices were ok for you.

The bar was an experience in itself. 4 maybe 5 bar staff and it took forever to get served. Staff seemed to be always huddled round the till talking. No sense of urgency, no yes please what can I get you or a thankyou.

All in all, a pleasant stay but a place I would not rush back to.

If you want to stay at Avlida Hotel, I would recommend for you to book any other room except the Sea View Suite. It's not worth the extra money you pay for the sea view and living space, as the bathroom you get is severely below 4 star standard. There was 1 small light above the sink, which barely lit up the bathroom so it felt like you were washing in a prison cell. There was a shower head that you had to hold to wash yourself as the one attached to the wall didn't work, but leaked when turned on. There was mould and stains and the bathtub itself was broken as it was not supported underneath and we could feel the tub bending under our feet, which wasn't safe.

We also found small stains on the towels and bedsheet. There were multiple lights in the room that weren't working. We weren't given a duvet as housekeeping forgot so we had to ask reception to provide one.

After seeing the state of the room on the first day, we went to complain to reception. The girls on the day shift were uninterested in our complaint and didn't provide any useful solutions. The next day we complained again to Guest Relations and they moved us to the same type of room on the 2nd floor. The view was better, but the bathroom was the same and still dimly lit so we put a lamp in there ourselves.

I would definitely recommend booking a cheaper room as the bathrooms look freshly renovated with marble tiling, is well lit and has a working shower head attached to the wall.

The security of the hotel rooms was also very poor. You are given a physical door key with a metal key chain attached. The key chain says the hotel name and room number. So if you lose the key, anyone who finds it will know exactly where to go and what room to open. The hotel doesn't have any spare keys, so if you do lose it, it'll cause a lot of problems.

It's a shame that our room didn't live up to expectations as the rest of our stay was pleasant. The hotel is in a good location (close to Tomb of the Kings, the Harbour, Venus beach, shops and restaurants). The bar/entertainment staff were really friendly (especially Manos who has the best customer service and made us laugh a lot). Standard breakfast items are provided in the morning, but it would've been nice to have turkey bacon for non-pork eaters and to have extended breakfast hours, as it finishes at 9:30am when people are only starting to wake up. The hotel entertainment was interesting (e.g. fire shows, singers and bingo nights). The staff also sent a free bottle of wine up to my room for my birthday, which was a very nice gesture and almost made up for the terrible bathroom we had.

Overall my experience at Avlida Hotel was decent, but I will not be staying in the Sea View Suite again or recommending the hotel to my friends or family in the future.

Dear guest, The same light you had during your stay is the same light everyone has during their stay in the suite. We even changed it to bigger lumens for you. you were still not happy. The description you give of the suite room does not resemble anything we have ever seen before or experienced. The security of a physical key is much greater than that of a RF card that you may be used to. I cannot expand on this but rest assured that that is the case. We cannot be sure what is your expectation or why it would be set differently. With regards to the standard service hours, these are actively promoted or advertised in the public domain. Had you enquired by email, the content of our breakfast would of become known to you. We are sad you feel this way about the sea view suite, but it was given to you the same way is was given to all others. It would be nice to have any kind of photo evidence of your claims too. kind regards Avlida hotel

We chose a hotel with a heated indoor pool, but alas, the water in the indoor pool was cold. As a result, my husband caught a cold on the first day of his visit. The entrance doors to the rooms closed very noisily, and in the long corridor this noise came from everywhere because... There are many rooms on the floor. The rooms were cleaned daily, clean, but the towels were washed out and old. Breakfast is normal, continental, but the selection of fruits is poor. For Cyprus this is nonsense. At the reception there is a Greek girl, I don’t remember her name - professional, very pleasant! The rest of the consultants left a negative impression - arrogant, arrogant. Special thanks to the waiters in the restaurant, they worked carefully, we didn’t have to wait long, they quickly set the table and removed the used dishes.
All the negative aspects of the hotel were compensated by its convenient location and convenient transport links.

The Avlida Hotel’s fall from grace is immediately evident upon arrival by the paint flaking off around the sign and by the ornamental pools that are full of detritus.
Food is the main problem at this hotel. We arrived in the afternoon and hungry after a very early start to the day and were looking forward to sampling the offerings at the pool side snack bar, it’s safe to say we were disappointed to find only soggy cheese and ham sandwiches available, nothing fresh at all.
This theme continued with the evening meal, a small choice of very dry meats and quite random accompaniments is served in a stifling hot dining room as the air conditioning is either not working, or not turned on. This resulted in us going out for most meals despite staying at the hotel on an all inclusive basis. There are quite a few good restaurants nearby so I’d recommend staying bed and breakfast if you do choose this hotel. Cleanliness in the dining room is an issue, which made me slightly uneasy about eating there.
Breakfast is again quite limited but was our preferred meal of the day. It is, however, impossible to get a decent cup of coffee in this hotel, with tasteless instant coffee served both in the restaurant and the bar.
The rooms are comfortable but rather dated and the doors offer no sound proofing to the corridor beyond, we were woken each night by people returning to their rooms.
The pool is nice but there are not nearly enough sun loungers for the amount of people at the hotel. On the one occasion that we left our towels on a sun lounger (for 30 mins to get breakfast) we came back to find the staff had removed them and shoved every other towel that was left there by other guests into the same bin bag, quite unhygienically. Upon complaining about this the guest relations ‘manager’ offered no apology despite there being no advertisement of this policy besides a small sign at reception, nothing around the pool. She took our room number and said she’d investigate but never got back to us. This policy was not enforced on any other day and multiple other guests ‘reserved’ 3 sun loungers with one towel and nothing was done about it.
In summary, appearance is poor, food is poor, customer service is poor and there aren’t enough sun loungers.

Response from A Hotel associate, Marketing at Avlida Hotel
Responded 02 Dec 2024
Dear guest, We are quite saddened by what you describe as being your experience. We cannot understand how you found 12 hot meal options for every dinner, organised in theme nights to be "limited" in any way shape of form. The same applies for the breakfast. All inclusive at our hotel means 3 meals per day, cold sandwiches in between meals , salads, sweets and ice cream, and an abundance of local drinks and cocktails between 10:00 - 23:45. This is actually a lot more than what is usually on offer, if in doubt please ask before you book your next destination, travel agents and hotel websites are usually quite informative. We can assure you that A/c works fine everywhere but with constant entry and exit into areas at some point it may feel hotter than we or you would like. Your experience with the sunbed policy is something that we apply for all of our guests, no one is singled out for any reason. If you are not in the hotel, you cannot have and therefore cannot reserve a sunbed, its fairly simple. In this way we secure sunbed availability for all of our guests, so that no one including you can ever say that there are not enough. kind regards Avlida hotel
