The Room
Stayed here for a week over the February school holidays, the room itself was fantastic with loads of little extras that made it special: there were separate toiletries for kids as well as a mini dressing gown for my daughter, they come along in the evening and check your towels empty your bins and leave little chocolates on your pillow this is on top of cleaning the room and making the beds etc in the morning, I have a king sized bed at home but the hotel beds were bigger.
The pools
The pools are fabulous, the weather wasn’t great that week but the indoor pool was lovely and warm. The outdoor pools looked lovely and lite up at night. They allocate you a sun bed and parasol for the time you are there if going to sit outside which is a fantastic idea.
I used the spa and the lady was really good one of the best treatments I’ve had.
The food
The breakfast was terrific you can have omelette made and brought to your table, there was everything from pancakes and waffles to salads to fruit to home baking and the traditional cooked breakfast if you wished.
Dinner was a buffet but there was an a la carte option in the restaurant beside it too, the buffet had plenty of options for everyone including vegan or vegetarian (I’m neither). The only thing I would say is if your eyesight is poor you may struggle to read what the food is as I had to read it out to some of the older guests who couldn’t see what it said. The food itself was delicious and the chefs are readily available to answer any questions about food allergies.
Staff
The staff who work at this hotel were terrific, they were constantly smiling and happy to help, they interact with the children and are very attentive.
Arriving at the hotel you receive a welcome drink at check in which was really quick and must commend the reception staff for that as after being on a plane for 5 and a half hours you really want to just get the holiday started. When we were leaving the hotel at check out the Manager was checking with everyone that they enjoyed their stay and wishing them a safe trip. There were guests who had stayed at this hotel year after year so that shows how good it is.
Location
I had partially booked this hotel due to its location, it has stunning views looking over to Paphos castle and is only a ten minute walk at most along the promenade to the harbour, there is a supermarket opposite the hotel as well as a couple of shops. It is on the beach too with a little cove so if you were wanting to I think you could swim in the sea.
I would definitely recommend the hotel and it’s staff.

We had a really lovely, relaxing week at this beautiful hotel. The staff were fantastic! I chose this hotel due to the allocated sunbed scheme which I think all hotels should adopt. As a late riser I have no chance of a decent sunbed usually but this meant I didn’t have to worry about rushing through breakfast every morning. Great idea 👌🏽
We were half board and all the food was lovely. I liked that you could choose a lunch or a dinner as that was really flexible. The Cypriot restaurant we booked for was incredible but far too much food for just 2 people. I really wish I could have eaten more, it was so good. The Italian wasn’t what we were expecting, more of a fine dining experience than an authentic rustic Italian but the service was top drawer.
The hotel is very well kept, beautifully clean and tidy and the rooms are spacious and roomy. A downside for us was the very noisy road in front of the hotel which goes on all night pretty much. I did request a quiet room as I’m a light sleeper but this didn’t happen. At the back of the hotel you are on the beach path which is lovely to walk along and will take you into town in about 10 minutes.
The pool area is lovely, a little crowded with sun beds squeezed together but very chilled. You can order snacks at the bar and there’s also a seating area if you prefer to dine at the table.
Another great idea was the late checkout room. You can book a hotel room for half an hour on the day you leave (request the night before you leave) so you can make the most of your last day and still be able to shower and change privately. The hotel will store your luggage and you can collect when you’re due to leave.
The only thing I really didn’t like was that you are brought a bill for literally everything you order (whether it’s included in your package or not) so you can say how much tip you want to leave. I find this quite rude as you are essentially being told they want a tip and this is for every single drink or food item you order, even if you are sitting at the bar yourself and not using a waiter. Now I always tip for good service and I did tip accordingly but I don’t think this should be expected and certainly not pushed on you this way. It’s very disconcerting. This has put me off returning which is a shame as it’s a lovely hotel with fantastic staff.

My Mother and I enjoyed almost two weeks half board in this excellent hotel over New Year and into January 2020. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to friends and family.
The beds were easily the largest and most comfortable I've ever slept on.... and for the first time ever my elderly Mum didn't request a topper!
I made regular use of the really well maintained gym, spa (super massages) and pool (so warm it was like bathwater....bliss!) and as the weather blew a hoolie outside we enjoyed the sumptuous food and watched the forces of nature perform as the waves crashed over the rocks. Exhilarating to be standing on the safety of the sheltered room balcony only metres from the raging sea!
Special mention must go to Xenia and the restaurant meeters and greeters who warmly welcomed us each evening and kindly/patiently tended to Mum's requests for cushions to sit on etc etc!
Thanks also to Christopher for his love, care and first aid skills when Mum took a tumble on our final morning and ended up in Intensive Care.... and to the Reception team and Flawia the Guest Relations Manager for so readily and easily helping with all the arrangements.
We couldn't have wished for a better base for our holiday!

One of the most family friendly hotels we've stayed at so far. The room was spacious and very comfortably set, including a small bed for our 3-year-old son, a crib for our 6 months daughter and a bathtub big enough for us to safely wash the children. The breakfast was really good and dinner was fantastic. Every night, dinner had a different theme (Cypriot, Italian, Mexican, etc), it felt like eating in a fancy restaurant, not just the usual hotel buffet. Our son had fun at the inside swimming pool and at the children club. And of course, the location is superb, right by the harbor promenade, at walking distance from the Archeological sites. Every single staff member was kind and helpful. I hope I get the chance to stay at this hotel chain again, too bad they only have hotels in Cyprus.

This is my first time writing a review on trip advisor but I wanted to take the time to do so as it was due to the amazing reviews I chose this hotel.
We travelled as a couple in our early thirties and wanted a week to just relax. Firstly, everything the previous reviews say about the service in this hotel is true, it was truly faultless. All the staff are friendly without being too "in your face" and we certainly never felt hassled or pressured.
The location of the hotel is great too as it's right on the beach with a path accessible from the pool area and so you can walk along the beach front. We did this several times to do watersports and also to walk to the harbour which is about 10 minutes away and has lots of bars/restaurants/shops.
We went full board which in hindsight we probably wouldn't do again, only because we wanted to try other places and if you're on an excursion you might miss a meal. The food was delicious so we would probably go half board next time.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family, if I had to say one negative which is definitely no reflection on the hotel, it's that there seemed to be a lot of older guests and not many other young couples but I have to say it did make our stay very relaxing.
I also just wanted to address the previous negative review as I feel it is unfair on the hotel. Firstly, the hotel provide you with fresh towels every single day and so I think it is fair enough they ask guests not to drape towels over the balcony.
Yes, the pool is cold, but nothing you don't get used to after 5 seconds and in the heat it's what most people want.
I can't comment on the beach as we didn't go on it directly outside our hotel however you only have to turn left/right as you walk out from the poolside area and there are plenty of easy access beaches.
Please do not let this review put you off staying here, we had the best, most relaxing holiday ever and will definitely be returning one day - hopefully with our family and friends :)

We spent a week at this wonderful hotel and we really can’t praise it enough- we certainly felt that it warrants 5 stars. The well appointed and excellently maintained hotel has a great position on the sea front and within short walking distance of the harbour and old town of Paphos where, apart from a good choice of bars and shops there are some amazing archaeological sites to explore.
The staff are efficient and friendly and we were made to feel very welcome immediately on arrival. The rooms are comfortable and spacious and most have sea views. The cuisine is excellent with a choice of buffet meals with a tremendous variety of dishes on offer as well as Oriental, Greek and Italian restaurants on site for specialised a la carte menus. The bar is comfortable with a wide range of drinks (and there is an excellent cocktail bar tender) all reasonably priced. There is entertainment each night and a range of activities during the daytime. We found the whole ambience restful and sophisticated and would certainly intend to return. Once again our thanks to the very ‘hands on’ manager and his super team.

We loved staying at this hotel! We needed a relaxing holiday and this ticked every box!
The rooms were clean and spacious with all the amenities you need Including a hairdryer, beach towels and a mini bar if you want! The beds are so comfortable and the rooms are cleaned everyday to a high standard
The cleanliness of the whole hotel was impressive and everyone complied with wearing a mask indoors. The tables were spread out enough to feel safe. They also disinfect the room before every new arrival
The beach was a small cove which was beautiful. The beauty of this hotel is the sun beds are located just above the sea and beach meaning you get spectacular views of the sunset and sea all day long! You can also pay for sun Beds in the beach but the beach is small so there isn’t much availability.
There is a beautiful coastal path into the town where there is a vibrant town full of restaurants and bars. It’s an easy walk and no steps if you had reduced mobility. You have the sea beside you throughout the whole walk which is stunning
The hotel offers 3 al a carte restaurants. There is an Asian, Italian and Greek restaurant to choose from, which you do need to book. The Asian is by far the best choice with 4 courses of heavenly food! The Italian also provides great food and service. The Greek was a bit of a let down with food lacking flavour. The buffet was always an option with good choice of food at breakfast and themed evenings. There is something for everyone!
The best thing about this hotel by far is the staff! Everyone was so willing to help, nothing was too much trouble. They were attentive, polite and always wanting to chat and may your stay extra special! They are a great team and made us feel very welcome!
We would definitely return to this hotel its fantastic!

We booked 2 rooms at the Alexander the Great. One sea view room for the parents and a superior room for the grown up son & daughter. As adults we really enjoyed the sea view room , listening to the the waves breaking and watching the sunset every night. The other room was bigger but with no balcony looking out over the front of the hotel . The children weren't disturbed by noise and weren't bothered by not having the balcony so choosing a room all depends what you are looking for . Both rooms were spotless and the turn down service is now rare in hotels . beach towels and bath towels were replaced each day . The staff are all fantastic, welcoming and have smiles every day. They seem to be all well supervised by managers who are on the floor all the time. We were half board plus and had no difficulty finding a variety of choices to eat each night of our 7 night stay. The allocation of sunbeds is a real bonus as we tend to go away for the morning and it meant when we wanted to appear at the pool we knew our sunbeds were there. We changed them as well half way through as you get to now where you want to be and changing was no problem. The position of the hotel was good , easy walks to bars an d restaurants and transport links .There are plenty of activities near by as well. Lots of car/bike hire if you are looking for this.. We asked for a late check out and this was accommodated which helped. Clearly many people return each year and I can certainly see why. In terms of Covid we felt very safe - lots of sanitizer around although this was not used by many within the restaurants and as they are buffet style lots of people are picking up utensils for serving. The hotel also provide face masks and gloves. We didn't use the elevator as the 2nd floor and used the stairs which again was useful. The weather contributed to being able to be outside to eat for all meals except dinner. I would recommend this hotel and would return if we were heading back to Paphos. Thank you Alexander the Great for a great stay.

My husband and I travel quite often and we have a lot of places (in Paphos too), to compare with. Alexander the great is a perfect comfortable hotel. Not new but recently very good renovated. Everything in the rooms is thought out as much as possible.
In the room: high quality sanitary ware, shower accessories, towels and slippers (different size). Unfortunately, there were no dental kits and the robes needed to be update. A good TV with USB-out and a sound column with separate regulation in the bathroom (since there is a window in the bathroom controlled by the smart home system, you can wash yourself and take your favorite movie with sound thanks to the speaker). Convenient wardrobe, tea and coffee station, safe. Minibar for an additional fee (filled daily). There is a delivery service to the room (for an additional fee) and turn down service (free of charge). A bottle of water and a compliment (fruit) in the room once upon arrival. And, most importantly, a stunning view to the sea, the old town with the castle! The sunsets are unforgettable! The higher the floor, the better the view.
Food: delicious and varied breakfasts, large selection of fruits, prosecco on Sundays. Lunch is served in the same restaurant as breakfast. Visited once instead of dinner (the choice is not big, but you won't stay hungry). Dinners, both in the general restaurant and in the à la carte restaurants are excellent (there is a choice of Italian, Pan-Asian and Cypriot restaurants, according to the HB system, each restaurant can be chosen once a week, you need to book it in advance). The food is great, waiters are attentive and hospitable. Dinner if you have HB system includes a bottle of water for table and a glass of wine / beer / soft drink for each guest. We tried only Italian from the à la carte restaurants. We were satisfied, but the general restaurant is no worse.
Territory: not very big, but thoughtful and well-groomed. There is a descent to the sandy beach. Nice promenade along the hotel territory, it is pleasant to walk there and in 10 minutes of leisurely walk you will find yourself on the main promenade next to the castle. If you walk in the opposite direction, you will pass by the wonderful Amavi, also part of the Kanika hotels and resorts group.
The hotel is located as conveniently as possible, in a main part of the city, there are many cafes, coffee shops, restaurants and shops nearby.
Once again we want to say that Alexander the Great is a stunning hotel with hospitable and attentive staff. We will definitely come back again (we are already planning come back in January for my Birthday) and we would recommend it to friends! Thank you so much for an unforgettable stay!

+1
We stayed at Alexander the Great from 24/08/22 to 03/08/2022 and I couldn’t recommend this wonderful hotel highly enough.
We had an issue on the first night in that we didn’t have a balcony (although this was already paid for). However after speaking with the hotel management the next day this was quickly rectified and we were given a beautiful room with a balcony that easily managed to fit x2 adults and x2 children. Advice would be double check before you go to ensure that you have a balcony if you’ve paid for this.
The hotel is tired in some areas, however it’s immaculately clean and couldn’t spot a bit of dirt. The housekeeping staff in the hotel are plentiful and do a great job ensuring the high standards are maintained.
We stayed on a B&B basis and the food at breakfast times was plentiful, fresh and of a very good quality. Fresh eggs and omelettes were available as well as waffles, pancakes, cooked breakfast, pastries, continental etc. There is something for everyone!
The staff in the hotel were plentiful and it was apparent a good level of training is given as the service received whilst we were there was exemplary. The assistant bar manager (mainly based by the pool bar) was fantastic, professional and really got to know the guests in the hotel. He also made a fantastic mojito!
The activities staff work tirelessly to entertain the guests. I felt for them as some activities aren’t always well attended however this is an individual thing and personally it isn’t my cup of tea. They put on some good shows in the evenings and a particular mention should go to Jackson who does an amazing job with such energy, particularly when it comes to entertaining the kids.
The location of the hotel is perfect as it’s only a 10 minute walk from the harbour which offers plenty of eateries and bars.
We don’t usually return to somewhere we’ve been before, however we’re booking to go again next year as we really can’t fault a single thing with this lovely hotel.
Thank you for a fantastic stay.
