Words fail me to describe our experience at this hotel. It was everything we hoped for and more. We stayed at one of the bungalows with a view of the sea and the Pafos castle and harbour. Even though it's central, you have so much privacy at the bungalows because you have a dedicated patio with a private lounging area. You can even bring your dog with you! There are three stunning pools to choose from, each with a bar next to it for drinks but we mostly used the infinity pool because it was the most private and was right next to our room (number 016). The room was so spacious and clean and was really cosy. Although the Paphos harbour and promenade with all the restaurants was right next door we had all our meals at the hotel because we wanted to try out the restaurants. Boy were we glad we did so. We had dinner on our first night at Notios restaurant outdoors. The menu was asian-inspired and I singled out the beef fillet with shitake mash potatoes. Heaven! Breakfast was to die for; you first choose how you like your eggs and your coffee, both of which are prepared and served to you fresh, and you can also help yourself from the buffet for other delicacies; from fresh fruit and veggies to local delicacies like halloumi, olives and soujioukkos for dessert. I fell in love with the bread which was warm and fresh every morning. It's also really worth having lunch at the greek restaurant Ouzeri by the sea. We had mezedes (small dishes) which were traditional flavours of the island but with a twist. My favourite was the dip with aubergine - the best I ever had by far. Be sure to be hungry when you go because there is a very generous amount and variety of food here! We were also very impressed at how careful the staff were with adhering to coronavirus measures. There was antiseptic at all common use areas and at the breakfast buffet staff ensured that all guests were wearing gloves before serving themselves. This was very reassuring and made us feel very safe throughout our stay. We also liked a lot that the staff were both very attentive and discreet. They catered to our every need but without being too eager and intrusive like you sometimes get at high end hotels. We had both brought our laptops to work and couldn't have been more productive because of the privacy and inspiring view at our bungalow. We mostly worked from our patio and used room service for cold drinks and snacks whenever we needed them. All in all, you really can't go wrong with this place whether you are looking for a break or somewhere to work remotely while enjoying the sun and the sea. Highly recommended, will definitely come again.

Dear 571josephinek Thank you for such a detailed review of your stay at the Almyra. I am pleased to see you enjoyed your suite, the pools, in particular, the infinity pool! I see you tried all the restaurants, and rated all of them, from breakfast in Mosaics, to Asian cuisine in Notios, and traditional Greek meze lunch at Ouzeri. Thank you for noting the measures we currently have in place for the government guidelines for the health and safety of our guests and staff teams. Thank you for the high recommendation and we look forward to seeing you again! Kind Regards Laura Mattocks Guest Services Manager

We spent 3 amazing nights at the Almyra hotel in Paphos. The hotel is conveniently located close to all amenities and restaurants, however away from the busy city harbour.

We stayed at the Kyma suites and we and our friends were allocated the two best rooms in the hotel, adjacent to the spa pool, which is adults only.

The room was spacious and well equipped with ample amenities and towels, USB and UBS-C ports, a lovely bathroom with both a bathtub and a shower. What impressed us the most however was the uninterrupted sea views and the suite's proximity to the sea front. The room had a generous outdoor veranda and space for ours and our friends' sunbeds, and it was next to the pool. We spent the first day lounging by the pool where the service of Andrei and Norbert was exceptional and we enjoyed the tranquility of the adult pool. The next couple of days we chose to stay at our own outdoor area, where we also enjoyed the service aforementioned.

The breakfast was varied and freshly cooked, with poached eggs and omelettes made to order. We dined at both hotel restaurants Ouzeri (greek cuisine) and Notios (Asian fusion) which are ideally located by the sea with amazing sunset views! The food was great in both restaurants, and our reservations were kindly arranged on our behalf by Isabela, the hotel's Guest Relations manager who went out of her way to make our stay as comfortable and hassle-free as possible.

The staff were friendly and welcoming and made us feel right at home. I should mention that the hotel is dog friendly, and our friends' dog also enjoyed the five star service!

All in all, this is place that I would definitely recommend and we can't wait to be back!

This was the first time we've visited Almyra and my goodness, what a place! We were a family of 5 with children aged 3-9 and we stayed nearly 2 weeks. We had an adjoining room which worked brilliantly, lovely rooms with a terrace out the front, exceptionally clean, brilliant service, amazing buffet breakfast (children had everything they wanted and more), we swam with turtles most days in the sea outside the hotel which never failed to mesmerise the children and us! Dinner was amazing, Ouzeri with the live music each evening, Notios with sushi too but our favourite was the Mediterranean that offered 5 star Italian food. We visited the Paphos water park which was nice and compact and full of rides that catered for all ages. It was so empty it was bliss as was our flight over (only 60 passangers on board). We did the NHS covid test which worked a treat. Laura Mattocks was fab in her customer service, we would definitely recommend this whole holiday. Thank you!

I simply cannot believe the other reviews I am reading here!

This is nowhere near a 5 star hotel by UK standards - probably 3 star.

This is classified as a Luxury Hotel. IT IS NOT.

The Good

A fairly nice location, next to the sea in an area good for swimming
A watersports concession right in front
Pretty cheap
Available at the very last minute (only booked because quarantine rules resulted in us cancelling our trip to Verdura in Sicily)
The promenade in front where one could walk or run
Had decentish meals in the Greek Taverna and the Asian fusion
Had a couple of goodish spa treatments
Close to the airport

The Bad

Ugly hotel and surrounds
Such ugly common areas
Small and dingy rooms
No charm
Very functional pool areas
Inexperienced, frequently uncharming, sometimes smelly, young and struggling staff - clearly not used to the suddenly expended occupancy levels arising from Cyprus' new found popularity!
Pafos is ugly and there is nothing charming about the town or the people
Cypriots seem very work shy
Lots of British expats of the sort you would prefer not to spend too much time with
Poor kids club and activities

I only went here out of a lack of choice and desperation to get some sun! I would not normally ever have considered a holiday in Cyprus - and now I know why!

This was our first post-lockdown holiday and the Almyra didn’t disappoint, everything was very clean and I felt safe. QR codes for all the menus and everyone wore masks indoors. We had two interconnecting rooms as we are a family of 5 with kids ages 6, 9 and 11. We had access to BBC1 and ITV in the rooms which made watching Wimbledon and the Euros easy when the kids were in bed. The kids loved the pools and we also made use of the water sports and went parasailing. Evening meals rotated between restaurants (we were on half bird) in the Almyra and neighbouring Annabelle, all the food was delicious and fresh. I can’t eat dairy and it was never a problem, even at breakfast everything is labelled for allergens with Almond or Soya milk on offer. It is a short walk to town and to the Paphos archaeological park so the location is excellent. We didn’t make use of the spa or kids club but I did a bike ride with a local cycling group that leaves from the hotel on Wednesdays which I highly recommend and we enjoyed the tennis courts. There is a kids playground which our 6 year old liked a lot but the other children found it a bit boring. Whenever we had issues - the front desk was super helpful . I haven’t given 5 stars as I think the hotel should provide drinking water every day - you are only given 1 bottle per room on the first day and then you have to buy more. Also I guess there could be more for teens and tweens to do but our children just spent the day in the pool and we did a few tours. There is so much to see in the region. All in all we loved it and would go back for sure.

Lovely hotel. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were helpful and friendly at all times. We had a terrace sea view which is worth the upgrade in terms of the convenience of being close to the pool. Half board was definitely good value with plenty of choice as you could also dine next door at the Annabelle (sister hotel) restaurants. One small bit of feedback is that they should provide water daily in the rooms. Overall, a great stay - thank you Almyra team!

Genuinely friendly staff

We have just returned from a week at the Almyra and wish we’d booked for longer. The hotel was full due to what we were told was unexpectedly fantastic weather for this time of year. The staff were therefore extremely busy but in our view they were professional, efficient and genuinely friendly. Breakfast finished at 10am, which meant that a lot of people turned up between 9 and 10 and resulted in the occasional wait for a table outside but there were plenty inside. We ate in all of the restaurants and the food was of a consistently high standard. The fruit, croissants and omelettes at breakfast were fresh and plentiful and there was a variety of cooked and cold options. The omelette ladies were always cheerful and worked incredibly hard. We did have to wait a while on a few occasions for hot drinks and we complained a couple of times. We ate at the Mosaics buffet restaurant in the evening a couple of times and the food was of a good standard and what we expected. We ate twice at the Ouzeri on the promenade and loved both the food and atmosphere. Maria was very helpful! We ate dinner once and lunch several times at Notios and had great service and excellent quality food each time. We will miss Domi and Ondreo, who were exceptionally friendly. Apart from some of the floors in the common parts of the hotel such as the corridors, we felt that cleaning standards were good and all of the staff wore masks. The hotel is in a quiet location but very close to the centre of Paphos. The view of the sea from the hotel is beautiful and the sunsets each night were amazing. We enjoy swimming in the sea rather than in pools and it was not easy as there is really only one way into the sea from close to the hotel. It cannot really be described as a beach, more a collection of rocks down some steps with a small strip of sand. That said, we did swim in the sea several times and it was crystal clear and enjoyable. There are a few larger patches of sand further along the promenade. We felt Paphos was a safe and friendly place and there are numerous excellent restaurants in the area, some a short taxi ride away. We particularly enjoyed the Muse at sunset high up in the Old Town and the traditional food at Seven St George’s Tavern. We would definitely return to the Almyra and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The hotel was beautiful and tidy. All members of staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was stunning, right on the coastal walk and close to the harbour. We especially loved the adults only spa area. Highly recommend the stay.

In terms of Covid precautions- all members of staff wore their masks, everything was cleaned well and at breakfast we had to wear gloves and masks whilst serving ourselves. Very impressed and felt safe. Thank you to everyone at Almyra.

Having booked a golfing package for four girlfriends, very last minute, from a well known golf tour operator (who took the full balance of monies but seemed unable or incapable of confirming all of our reservation), I made a connection with guest services at Almyra.
Katia was amazing and confirmed our rooms, single occupancy, honoured our requests to have four rooms next to each other and booked us buggies for our rounds of golf. All of this should have been done by the golf tour company!
The hotel asked for any special requests and I mentioned that two of our ladies had not been able to celebrate their ‘special’ birthdays during lockdown. On arrival they were greeted with a delicious cake each plus a glass of bubbles.
The sea view terrace rooms were fabulous and being next to each other we could take room service lunches together on the terrace,; ideal. These rooms overlook the garden, pool and out to sea. Housekeeping did a superb job each day of replenishing the gorgeous Aqua Parma products, cleaning the room, extra tissues, towels checked each morning and evening.
Sadly during the trip I became unwell and needed hospital treatment. It began in the middle of the night and the night manager Sorem was amazing. He got a DR to call me, called my insurers and arranged a taxi to the hospital. Even the day manager Laura messaged me in the middle of the night to offer assistance.
When I received the news that I would be unable to fly home with my friends and would require a Fit to Fly certificate at a later date I was understandably upset at remaining in a foreign country alone. No worries Thomas the manager arranged for me to keep my room and treated me as a repeat customer.
Katia, Laura, Thomas, Sorem and my new best fried Gregoris from room service truly cared for my safety and well being throughout my extended stay.
I cannot thank them enough they went above and beyond what is good service from a hotel.
I would definitely recommend this hotel and hope to return one day with my husband so he can thank them too.
Take a bow.

We stayed at Almyra for the first time this October and really enjoyed our stay - beautiful pool areas, lovely food and the staff were friendly and accommodating. We actually conceived our long awaited baby while here lol so shows what good vibes the hotel has!! I have a severe nut allergy and the chef was happy to walk me through the buffet every day. All of the restaurants have a comprehensive allergy key but I'd still advise checking with your server as sometimes they weren't 100% right. Lots of families and young children at the hotel so we stuck to the adults only infinity pool which was quiet and very chic! You can order coffees & drinks direct to the beds and even pool snacks which was a nice treat, but definitely head to Notios too as the view over the sea and salads are amazing!! Dined at Ouzeri once on the promenade which is more authentic Greek but we waited an hour to get served and then longer for drinks, food etc. Only downside overall is the beds situation - unless you get up around 7am and reserve a bed you have no chance of getting one at any pool which is unusual for a five star hotel. But overall a wonderful stay and we look forward to hopefully returning next year... with baby :-)

Dear beeA6703YI What a review to read! Congratulations for you both and long awaited baby! We cannot wait to welcome you back as a family! Very pleased to hear our chef and team could assist with your nut allergy, and thank you for your feedback on the restaurants, i will follow up with the Ouzeri team, as that seems a little long to be waiting, even with an authentic mediterranean approach! Our sunbed policy has been reviewed, and found this year to be more difficult with ever changing restrictions with Covid protocols, what we are allowed, when, where, distancing etc. I am pleased you got to experience the adult only area, sounds like this was ideal for you. We very much hope to welcome you back, and add that 1 extra star to your review!
