Amanzi Trails Campsite and River Rafting is situated on the northern bank of the Orange River, 16km downstream from the Noordoewer/Vioolsdrif border post (half-way between Cape Town and Windhoek). The campsite boasts with a big tree-covered lawn area. You can ease into a delightful spot, pitch your tent and have a wonderful view of the river and the spectacular Geelkrans Cliffs on the opposite bank. Alternatively, depending on availability, you can make use of an enclosed lapa section. Caravans and trailers are welcome. Clean ablutions and hot showers are available. We have well stocked-bar with beer and soft drinks. We also sell ice, wood and meat. Fresh bread is available in shops at Noordoewer (10km from Amanzi), on a daily basis. Popular attractions include bird-watching, fishing, hiking and canoeing. A 20-minute walk from the campsite takes you to some very interesting petroglyphs (San rock engravings). A drive to the Fish River Canyon and Ais-Ais Hotsprings is a worthwhile day excursion (± 110km from Amanzi).

We had the privilege of being taken on a magical river canoeing trip, along with three other families, by the Amanzi Trails crew. The three-person guiding group, ably and confidently led by Jaco, took care of our safety, enjoyment, food and comfort in the most natural and engaging way. The start and end camp is spotless and pleasant to use, and the whole experience left us refreshed, grateful, and enriched. It’s a no-fuss experience with all the basics perfectly covered, and everything done with love and care. Definitely worth a repeat visit.

My family amd I had the pleasure of camping for a week at the Amanzi River trails campsite. It was an absolute pleasure with shaded sites, clean and neat ablution blocks, a well stocked lapa and bar area, good quality meat and wood on request and most of all, a most helpful, pleasant and informative host named Arrie who sees to all your needs at the drop of a hat. We will definitely be back!!

Amanzi was our start point for our first-ever camping trip in Namibia. We could not have wished for more. Immaculately kept, shaded, reed-screened campsites with cooking/washing lapas, gleaming ablution and scullery blocks, a terrific bar area – even bins for recyclables. A very beautiful setting, especially if you can get a riverfront site. Best of all are the Amazing Amanzis. For host Arrie (his real name is much longer), Sara and staff, nothing was too much trouble. From getting we tech-challenged oldies onto the local cell network to providing invaluable suggestions as to where to go next, he was ever generous and patient (and witty with it too). Our three nights there were so lovely we just had to return three weeks later for our last night in Nam. Sniff. We will be back for a canoe trip … or any other excuse.

After a month in the desert, we were blown away by the beautiful, green and shady campsites situated along the Orange River. Unfortunately, we had to get home so only spent one night but should have spent at least a few days here. Arrie was super friendly and helpful on our arrival and tipped us off to set up camp on a great campsite protected from the wind. The braai boma and washing/prep facilities under the reed roof made our last night in Namibia a pleasure! Ablutions were clean and close by. We’ll definitely make a plan to go back. It’s a no brainer to spend a night or a few nights before your Namibia adventure to de stress along the river and then once again on the way back to happily complete your fabulous road trip before trekking back to SA.
Tip: load up with great, frozen meat and buy SIM card at the Shell Garage Noordoewer before your Namibia trip if you plan to go Rosh Pinah/Aus/Sossusvlei, etc. the cute pretty lady at the Shell Garage is friendly, helpful and awesome!

Arnulf looked after our group of four flawlessly. Our stay was one of our favourites on our tour. We enjoyed canoeing, the bar area and taking in the scenery in peace and quiet. Arnulf couldn't have been more accommodating or generous suggesting activities in the area to really make the most of our stay. For any other keen fishermen visiting, would be worth bringing a rod for sure, one of the most stunning locations I have ever fished.
Hoping to be fortunate enough to return in future!

Amanzi provided the main kit for our 4-day trip on the Orange, as well as supplies of fresh food. We also camped at their beautiful riverside camp at the start and end of our trip. The service was excellent all round, nothing was too much trouble for Ari. All in all we had a fantastic trip, with Amanzi taking care of all the logistics issues for us. Highly recommended!

We stayed at this campsite for 2 nights during our trip through Namibia. The campsite was very quiet (since we were off season, there were no other guests). The host totally made our stay here - very friendly, helpful and welcoming. The campsite is very clean with a nice view on the river. We also did a full day canoe trip, which was great fun. All in all: highly recommended!

We stayed here just for one night in April this year. The camp is very well laid out, and very clean. The camp has been rebuilt since the floods earlier in the year so everything is immaculate. Great to wake up to the river in the mornings Arnulf was really friendly and gave us some tips on further travels, Would highly recommend to stay again.

We had an incredible experience with Amanzi Trails! Our lead guide, Kavera and his team were amazing throughout the trip, making the best food and keeping us safe, happy and comfortable, always! The correspondence leading up to the trip was also great and we had all our questions answered. We were also provided with all documents necessary to cross the SA-Namibia border - making it seamless and easy to do. We would highly recommend this trip for anyone wanting to experience a bit of the Orange River!

Unfortunately not, however we do have a lovely river to swim in. I apologise for the late reply. We tried to answer numerous times but were unsuccessful due to technical difficulties.
