We stayed overnight at La Maison de Claire and on the positive side it was in a quiet location, the tiny hydrangea surrounded courtyard was cute, Claire was pleasant though seemed a bit hassled, and the meal was quite good. She had warmed the brioche for breakfast, which made them tasty. Negatively our small bedroom which opened out onto a courtyard was damp and smelled musty. Claire left four ends of loo rolls in a basket on top of the toilet with just a few sheets of paper on each roll. There wasn’t enough for our needs and she hadn’t left any spare rolls. There was a waterproof mattress protector on our bed, so every time one of us moved it sounded like a crisp packet being scrunched. I found a hair in the sauce in the globe artichoke at the evening meal and at breakfast when I tried to dip in to the small pot of home made yoghurt I assumed it had wax paper on the top to keep it fresh as I struggled to get the spoon in, but there was another hair across the top! I hate leaving negative reviews, but having just stayed at Aux Agapanthes in Aumagne the contrast was marked.

the house is charming and full of quirks. the Host is also charming and very helpful. breakfasts are fantastic and fresh. the rooms are well appointed but the double bed in the 'romantic' room a rather small double bed only. the house is in a quiet street. overall our stay was very enjoyable. thank you Claire

I stayed one night with friends, walking the Camino from Mont St Michel. This small establishment is located in the old centre of an attractive small town close by the church and town hall. Claire is a charming hostess and a very good cook. The rooms are comfortably and tastefully decorated. My bedroom (with a double and single bed) had a small but very functional ensuite. The evening meal provided by and shared with Claire was a highlight. Free Wifi is provided. Do not expect luxury, but rather a thoroughly authentic French home stay.

Antrain is a lovely town and we enjoyed a one night stop on the way back to the Tunnel. A charming house with lots of parking nearby. Our room had a terrace but the stairs would be a little challenging for some. It was spotlessly clean with a super French breakfast in the morning, my husband loved the homemade preserves! Claire is a great host.

A 5th or 6th visit to Antrain for the singing festival nearby. Lovely stay at Claire's, bread, brioche and home made jam and yoghurt, an occasional surprise (pain perdu is wonderful) and also lovely four course dinners with wine for a very good price. Claire is the perfect host and does all she can to make us welcome.
