We had a wonderful time at Hotel Saima. Johanna and her husband are the perfect hosts. Our room was beautiful and very comfortable. Johanna suggested places for us to visit along with the times of tours. We took her suggestions and found we had more time to visit more places. The breakfast was delicious. What more can one ask for? It was perfection!
Really enjoyed staying here. Unique and beautiful, all rooms have different features. We had a room with a view of the castle . Historic building, sympathetically renovated throughout. Good breakfast and amazing cakes. Service exemplary. Will be back for the afternoon tea
We stayed for one night at Hotel Saima recently and it was the perfect choice for a short stay in Savonlinna. The location is awesome, a two minute walk away from Olavinlinna Castle and close to the lakeside walkways. The rooms are adorable and seem recently remodeled in period style. We stayed in the green room and it was beautiful, with high ceilings and plenty of space. The person who checked us in was really friendly and we learned when we checked out that she was part of a local family who also own a bakery in town. We booked directly through the Hotel's website and our booking included breakfast. The breakfast was left in the fridge for us to serve ourselves in the morning and included some pastries, cold cuts, cheese and yoghurt parfait. Definitely recommend staying here if you are headed to Savonlinna!…
We had the Green Room in September since we wanted to have a relaxing holiday/staycation outside the opera season, and this tiny hotel ended up being one of the best places we've visited ever! Breakfast, friendly service, rooms, tranquility, location, shops and attractions nearby, the café - everything is very cozy and lovely here, everything works and the house is very charming. Big plus for a shared kitchenette downstairs where we could make tea and coffee whenever needed AND buy evening snack from the café and they would deliver it to the kitchenette fridge for us. Lovely! <3 Highly recommend this place and also early Autumn for a relaxing visit if you're not a big fan of the summer hazzle & crowds during opera season (July) but want to enjoy seeing the castle and lakeside. Also absolutely worth for staying several nights, I noticed that most people came only for 1 night (what a waste) but I could have stayed the whole week. Only thing we didn't realize is to book ahead for afternoon tea, but that is easily corrected since we are definately going back again :)…
We stayed in the castle view room for two nights with my husband and we really enjoyed it! The staff was super friendly and helpful. Breakfast and everything else we had in the restaurant was delicious. The hotel was clean and the room well equipped. This place has a lot of character and they have put a lot of attention on details. Thanks a lot, we’ll be back!
We had nice weekend in Savonlinna in Hotel Saima. Owners were extremely friendly and the whole hotel was superclean and tidy. We stayd at the Castle View Room and it was beautiful and spacious. Sheets and towels were so soft and bed was nice. Breakfast was tasty. We can easily recommend this hotel and we will be back, perhaps next summer.
More like a hostel than a hotel. Bathroom in the corridor, low quality bed and sheets, reception and all service finishes at 5pm. Breakfast rather basic. Great location. Cozy room but far from good value for money.
We stayed in this beautiful family-owned boutique hotel for one night. It was definitely worth every euro! In Finland it's often hard to come by a place where everything is thought through to the last detail and no corners are cut. Not at Saima. We absolutely loved the (yummy) breakfast served to the table, the bathrobes in the room, the way we were catered to our room, the Pimms served at the cafe etc. The location was superb, right by the castle, shops and various (summer) restaurants. And you can start the day with a dip into the lake; the city beach is just a couple of minutes away.
First time I could see a medieval castle from my hotel room window in Finland. Small, cozy, within short walk from heart of the town. A stone’s throw from beach and castle and museum. Not cheao, but this is Finland! Really good cafe and restaurant rounds up my praise of Hotel Saima. Will return.
We stayed here with my grilfriend for one night during our roadtrip, and the few rooms, firendly staff and breakfest were all worth a visit. Rooms were made in old fashion with a great sense of style. Location in the old part of Savonlinna is very good, castle is around the corner with late evening restaurants and centre square only 10min walk away.
