I was going with my friend to Savonlinna Opera Festival and we had reserved a room in Rantakatti for the night after the opera. We hadn't visited this hotel earlier. We were a little late when arriving in Savonlinna to go first to the hotel. I called there and asked if we could check us in the hotel after the opera, at night. They accepted it and left the keys and information for us in the lobby - no problems, said the person in duty. When we arrived at night everything was as promised. And the hotel was a nice peaceful place at the lakeside, the room was also nice and clean with modern en-suite bathroom. In the morning the breakfast was ready in the restaurant, with all almost everything you could eat in the morning. So we enjoyed it. One thing I'd wished was a little more alternatives in the breakfast for vegetarians.…
My partner and I recently stayed a few days at Rantakatti. Our room was in Huvimannila, a separate building right next to the main building. We were very happy with the room which had large windows and very comfortable beds. The room even had a view of the lake - too bad cars were parked right outside of the window... We loved the location on the beach. I took the opportunity to go for a morning swim every morning! There are two saunas and you can cool off after the sauna by dipping into the lake. Bliss! Breakfast table consisted of oatmeal, musli, yoghurt, omelettes, hot sausages, bread etc. - the usual fare, but plenty to choose from. We had dinner at the restaurant on two occasions, and I can warmly recommend the vendace (muikku, a local delicacy). Staff was very friendly and eager to help.…
Traveling with a friend thru FInland by car, one thing we wanted to do was stay in a cottage by a lake- but also have some comforts of home (e.g. warm meals made for us!). We ended up staying here three nights. A main reason is the hotel itself- this family-run hotel has a number of different buildings and sleeping arrangements scattered on shores of a lake. The rooms were wonderful (try to get one that faces the water). The restaurant has tables inside and outside, so you can pick where you sit. They have saunas, bikes to use, and a rowboat to take out on the lake. The family is extremely friendly and helpful. And all these amenities aside, you also can enjoy some alone-time and relaxation. The location was another reason I recommend it- the Punkaharju area is naturally breathtaking with the water and eskers. It's a good place from which to explore the lake region.…
Not as nice as I expected. Poor rooms, poor soundproofing, poor shower. Quiet surrounding though. Breakfast below average and staff quite quiet and sort of distant. Perfect location to experience some of the most beautiful places in Finland. Too expensive for the quality.
There is definitely a paradise on Earth and we found it. There are no words to explain the beauty of this place. Perfect. E-ve-ri-thing is perfect there. Myriads of thnx to all the perfectly helpful staff.
