The room was of a good size with a comfy bed and well laid out shower / toilet area containing good products.
Even though the hotel is close to a main road and railway track there was minimal noise.
During our stay of two nights we saw many families with small children staying at the hotel.
The breakfast selection was excellent, and catered for everyone’s requirement.
All staff encountered were extremely pleasant and helpful.
There were a couple of issues, firstly there was quite a few guests confused by the car park set up and even though I enquired with ‘local’ guests about the signage, coming from the UK I still would be unable to explain how the hotel car parking system worked!
Secondly, personally, I believe that guest should expect their room to be serviced automatically and not having to requested it being done by 11pm on the previous night.
Overall and very nice hotel with good facilities, family friendly and the offer of an excellent breakfast, close to railway station and fairly central.
If visiting Örebro I would recommend this establishment.
A modern building, friendly reception at reception. Right at check-in we were asked if we wanted an interim cleaning of the room during the two-day stay. As usual in many chain hotels, rooms are cleaned on request and bed linen and towels are changed for stays of several days. Personally, however, I prefer the opt-out solution practiced by some hotels, where you announce with a hanger on the room door that you do not need cleaning. Next to the reception a self-service espresso machine for a complimentary coffee. Unfortunately defective, as the receptionist told us, and directed us to the restaurant to the machine normally used for breakfast.
The room, category Standard, was sufficiently large (not all Scandic hotels in our experience) and had the usual decor of Scandic Standard rooms in Sweden. That means no wardrobe, but a clothes rack, at the same time a bracket for an ironing board and an iron. After many contributions to this website, the closet should be essential for travelers from the German-speaking world. For those from Sweden it seems to be the ironing board, because it can be found in many Swedish hotels. In any case, we do not need both for a short stay. So the storage facilities were very limited, but there was a safe, which I really appreciate.
On the side of the hotel where our room was located, a four-lane road and an industrial connecting track led past. On one occasion, freight cars were moved there in the middle of the night to an industrial operation, including the sound of a closing railway barrier and the sound of a diesel locomotive. But otherwise it was quiet, no street noise or noise from the nearby station could be heard.
The breakfast buffet was extensive and excellent and there was enough space at breakfast for the guests of the yet very large hotel.
Excellent breakfast but parking challenges.
The breakfast at Scandic Centralen was a highlight during our stay. It was plentiful and tasted very good. Unfortunately we had some difficulties with parking spaces nearby, which can be inconvenient if you are traveling by car.
Light admission early in the morning.
Another minor drawback was the connection of the curtains to the wall in the room. This led to light coming in early in the morning, which can be annoying if you want to sleep a little longer.
In summary, Scandic Centralen offers a clean and modern designed environment with comfortable beds and a fantastic breakfast. If you are not dependent on parking and don't mind the light coming in in the morning, it could be a good choice for your stay in Örebro.
Never ever again this was such a bad experience in all categories
Positively:
Fresh bathrooms
Close to train/bus/taxi/air transfer
Nice room
Well-kept
Friendly staff
Less good:
Incredibly responsive for being newly built
Curtains do not make the room completely dark
No soft close on doors = banging when neighboring rooms come and go
Chaos at breakfast despite an appointment
No food service before 5pm (difficult with children)
Tough menu with niche food that does not suit everyone (mainly children)
No play corner/room for children
Unclear and expensive parking
No extra garbage bags (diapers) despite booking a cot
