The Absalon Hotel garners high praise for its cleanliness, with guests often opting for eco-friendly incentives over daily room service. The welcoming atmosphere is accentuated by stylish decor and a cozy bar, although some guests mention the rooms can feel cramped. The hotel's staff are lauded for their exceptional service, contributing to a pleasant stay. While some guests note hallway noise, the location is a hit due to its proximity to key attractions. The hotel is considered a good value, offering perks like voucher exchanges for skipped housekeeping, despite the occasional remark on pricey meals.

The Absalon has colourful, contemporary Danish design with décor by the Designers Guild. Our room was well appointed and comfortable with lovely toiletries in bathroom using natural ingredients. Location near central station meant easy transfer from airport (12 mins by train 39.50dk then 5 minute walk) and easy to get around Copenhagen using metro or walking. Only tip I would give about the rooms is to turn the radiator down when you go in as it can get really warm during the night and whilst everything is quiet with the thickly glazed windows closed, if you are at the front of the hotel and open them to cool the room the street outside can get quite noisy which can obviously affect your night's sleep.

Bar was a nice relaxed place for an a drink at any time of day and if you choose not to have room service you get 100dk voucher to use in the bar which will buy two medium beers.

Breakfast had good choice and quality food to choose from. The Emeyu tea range they use here and in the rooms is sooooo nice. I loved the 'eight butterflies' and am ordering some to be delivered now I am home and at 120dk for 20 teabags before postage is added you can see the quality of products that this hotel uses and shows their attention to detail to get things just right.

It was the day after my birthday we arrived for my birthday trip but even so they left some wine and cakes in our room on our arrival with a card from the staff which was a nice touch. Every member of staff we came across was friendly, efficient and helpful.

Would recommend this hotel and will definitely stay again should I return to Copenhagen.

A heartfelt gratitude for your wonderful and detailed review regarding your stay at Absalon Hotel! It is great news to know that you enjoyed your overall stay in the hotel with the Danish "hygge" feel and those small details along with the sincere service from the staff that made your stay a perfect one. The room interior decor and amenities are carefully chosen with consideration for the environment. The Karmameju toiletries are organic. The same goes with the Emeyu Teas and the breakfast buffet is mostly organic too. The reward concept for declining housekeeping service is also part of our endeavour for sustainability and we are pleased that you have taken part of this and enjoyed some nice drinks at Absalon Bar. Once again, thank you for your kind words and we are delighted that you have chosen to stay with us. It was a pleasure to be part of the celebration of your birthday. We hope to welcome you back and create more wonderful memories with you in the near future. Sincerely, Joyce Ausan-Louv Guest Relations Officer Absalon Hotel

The staff were most accommodating and responsive to all our questions. Our twin bedded room was bright and airy, with all toiletries, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion provided via convenient wall dispensers. with large, easily opened windows, and extremely comfortable beds. By booking directly with the hotel, we received an excellent rate with breakfast included. The breakfast included a wide array of Danish fresh breads and pasties, cheeses, cereals, hot dishes and absolutely delicious piping hot coffee. The location was a few short blocks from the Copenhagen Central train station, the Visitor Information bureau, Tivoli, the Planetarium and an array of restaurants and cafes.

Note that the train ride to the airport was less than 15 minutes. By going to the airport the day before our departure, a little more than 24 hours before our flight, we were able to obtain, free of charge, a PCR test to fulfill the CDC’s Covid 19 viral testing requirements for returning to the USA. The complete results, with all CDC requirements printed, were emailed to us about 10-12 hours later. The hotel desk staff printed a copy for us to have in hand to enter the USA, as well as cover us for the Covid test requirements for Portugal which we passed through on our return to the states.

A word to the wise: it wasn’t until we reached Newark Airport for our TAP/Air Portugal departure that we learned that Portugal required Covid 19 testing just for our brief layover, as we had to pass through their customs. The cost for a rapid test at that terminal was $250/person.

We stayed at the Absalon over New Year for our honeymoon, arriving on 30th Dec 19 to 3rd January. What a lovely modern hotel to stay in, the staff were very friendly and welcoming whether it was at reception, at the bar or at breakfast. We stayed in a superior room (551) such a nice and spacious room, very clean - housekeeping was in every day to make the room up and provide fresh towels. The room had a nice nespresso coffee machine and capsules.
There was plenty choice for breakfast, between, cheeses, fruit, cereal, breads, pastries, eggs, and sausages, the sausages we weren't' so sure on as they tasted like hot dogs but non the less everything else was great.
The streets outside the hotel feel a little dodgy, we didn't feel safe coming back to the hotel one night, there was guys standing on the street corners communicating back and forth to each other so it put of off going out at night.
The only thing the hotel is missing is evening dinners, but there are plenty of places round about to go to.
We loved our stay at the Absalon and would definitely recommend it!

Thank you for this wonderful feedback and we are very pleased to hear your fantastic stay. It warms our heart that we made your new year's and honeymoon trip a memorable one. We have a special team of talented individuals who are genuinely interested in pampering your preferences and creating a carefree experience for each guest. All our rooms are beautifully decorated but the superior rooms are extra nice because they are larger rooms for an added space and comfort. You also get to enjoy some extra amenities such as the coffee machine and an air conditioning unit. I am sorry to hear about that incident you experienced at the street and I understand you were concerned of your safety but this was nothing to worry about. Our hotel is situated in the centre of Copenhagen (Vesterbro area), behind Central Station, close to all the major attracts and the trendy meat market with numerous galleries and well known restaurants. We generally find that the location is more a pro than a con for our guests as it is a very lively area. We remain grateful for the opportunity of having you and we hope you will travel our way again soon for another great Absalon experience. My wife and I recently returned to Hotel Absalon for the first time since the lockdown ended in the UK.

We wanted a relaxing break in a city that we love and whilst we usually stay in the Absalon’s sister hotel (The Andersen - which is opposite) we had stayed in the Absalon on a previous occasion and with the Andersen being fully booked we decided to return.

From the moment that we stepped into the reception we were warmly welcomed and that set the pattern for our stay.

Staff were, without exception and whatever their role were cheerful and engaging,

Our room on the 5th floor was more like a luxury suite and certainly represented value for money - daily housekeeping ensured a high standard of cleanliness.

Our room price included a buffet breakfast where we found a wide range of food to choose from. Staff were on hand to answer questions or point you in the right direction and the plates/cutlery were cleared away almost as soon as we had finished with them.

The added bonus was the bar that served a range of beers and other drinks was spacious and comfortable. It was lovely to relax in after a hard day at the shops.

We achieved our goal to have a calm and relaxing break. We will certainly be going back and have no hesitation in recommending it - well done Absalon.

We booked this hotel as a weekend away in Copenhagen for my wife's 40th. Prior to checking in the Frederick had been extremely helpful in searching for vegan (as Emma is vegan) cakes, to be in the room on our arrival and giving an upgrade to our room; at a very reasonable rate.

The staff were extremely helpful at all times especially when checking in and we didn't have our baggage because of a baggage handlers strike.

The cakes etc were waiting in our superior room with a bottle of champagne and a lovely note from the hotel staff.

The breakfast each morning was buffet style but with every choice you could want; cereals, yoghurts, scrambled eggs, sausages, bread, smoked salmon, salad and so much more.

The room was extremely spacious and very well presented. The bathroom had underfloor heating with led lighting that changes colour.

The location of the hotel is perfect for exploring the city only 200m from the railway station, which itself is right next to the Tivoli Gardens.

I can't recommend this hotel highly enough.

There is a hidden gem within the hotel, it's staircase.

Location was great. Two blocks away from central station. 15 min from airport.
Very nice area, with many restaurants around and a mini market.
Room :
We get an upgrade to a superior room (for extra 20 euros/day) which was very big, including a nespresso coffee machine and a mini bar. The room was very clean.

A small detail : we liked the bathroom lighting, which you can choose any color you prefer!!

As I arrived by train, the location at a stone's throw from the central station was really convenient. The area is gentrified and trendyt although you can still see some remnants of its seedier past. I felt safe at all moments of the day. There are many nice restaurants nearby.

Check-in was smooth and friendly. I was offered an upgrade to a bigger room for a small fee at check-in and I was happy that I decided to pay a bit more after reading the reviews about the smallest rooms. There is a nice vibe when you enter the hotel with people sitting in the lounge.

The room itself was roomy, styled in a modern way wihout losing its "cosiness" (or Danish equivalent "hygge".) The bathroom was spotlessly clean with nice amenties..

The breakfast was ok: the choice compared to previous hotels was more limited but of a good quality..

Next time when visiting Copenhagen, I will definitely come back to this wonderful hotel.

This was our first stop on our three city Scandi tour (Copenhagen, Stockholm, Oslo). The hotel is a couple of minutes walk from Kobenhavn H (Copenhagen's central station) and is, therefore, well serviced by public transport with trains, buses and the metro all within 150metres or so.
We had a family room which was at the end of the corridor on the second floor. It overlooked a very pleasant courtyard which would probably provide a lovely outdoor space in warmer months. The room was clean and very well furnished in a modern, contempory style with a larger (king size) bed plus a double sofa bed. The bathroom was also large with a bath and shower over.
We had breakfast included which was buffet style with a good mix of cereal, meats and cheeses with pastries, breads and a small selection of hotfood including fabulously fluffy scrambled eggs and pancakes. My only citisism would be that a single, small domestic toaster isn't really up to a busy breakfast service catering for over a hundred people...
At roughly £470 for three nights, I thought it offered good value; it was spotless throughout and has a lovely staircase!

Great location, awesome staff, fantastic rooms, excellent breakfast - it doesn't get any better than this.

We looked at hotels close to Nyhavn because, well, it's the postcard thing isn't it? We decided on Absalon because of its location in the Meat Packing District (it's a bit away from the heavy tourist areas so therefore quieter but changing and interesting with many restaurants/bars) and closeness to Kobenhavn Central Station, and we weren't disappointed. We had the superior rooms which were spacious, beautifully designed with excellent features, and included breakfast which offered a great selection of both hot and cold options with good coffee.

The location suited us because we like proximity to central stations, and because it gave us opportunity to walk to all the major tourist attractions which meant we got to discover a lot of the central parts of Kobenhavn.

The stand-out for us were the staff. Our trip included hotels in London, Kopenhavn, Stockholm, Tallinn, and the staff at Absalon were head and shoulders above the rest.

If you're coming to Kopenhavn and wondering about which hotel? Make it easy on yourself and choose the Absalon. We highly recommend it and will stay there again.

The location near the central station makes the sightseeing effective and you don’t need to drag your suitcase for kilometers before you reach the hotel.
It’s best to ask for a quiet room facing the backyard as weekend nights tend to be loud. Very kind and helpful front desk staff.
Breakfast great with very efficient staff. The rooms are tastefully furnished and the beds comfortable. The bathrooms are equipped with very nice cosmetic products in large containers unlike other hotels’ disposable little bottles. Beautiful fabric and colours all over the hotel.
We’ll definitely keep choosing the Absalon when in Copenhagen.
