Wakeup Copenhagen Carsten Niebuhrs Gade offers a prime location that guests appreciate, with easy access to key attractions like Tivoli. Reviewers frequently commend the cleanliness and the helpful staff, but some have raised concerns about the small room size and sound insulation.

Detailed Reviews
Hotel itself is very clean and well presented from the lobby to the rooms. You get what you pay for and because Denmark isn't cheap hotels aren't either. We stayed for 3 nights in total and apart from a fire alarm early one morning we slept great.
Room temperature controls were great and very effective, shower was powerful and temperature controls were perfect. The room was very small for the 2 of us with carry on cases. The bed was an ok size but came with 2 single duvets (blankets) and 2 pillows, we asked for some extra pillows but were told it was stirctly one per person unless we wanted to buy a pillow for £70 (GBP), we made do with what we had. During the fire alarm (at 5am one morning) staff were great at getting us out of the hotel, however once outside (in the rain) communication could have been better, we basically had to guess when to go back in.
Overall, room was very clean but small. Hotel staff were great at check-in but communication could have been better. Location is good and close to the central Copenhagen station.

Dear JamieBowker Thank you for taking the time to write your review of us at Wakeup Copenhagen. We are happy to hear that, overall, you enjoyed your stay with us. We are a low-budget hotel and in order for us to keep the low prices that we have, extra services will be at a cost. Extra pillows can be bought from the Front Desk for 75 DKK, aproximatly £9. We are sorry to hear that you feel the communication from our staff was not in order. Service is important to us and we do try our very best to make our guests feel welcome at our hotel. I do hope you enjoyed your time in Copenhagen. Best regards Madalina Duty Manager

We spent 3 nights at the Wake up Copenhagen and had a great stay. We were located on the 11th floor with good views and very quiet, reviews we read on the rooms said they were small but we found the cosy and very comfortable. Bathroom has frosted glass around so we're private.
We had a problem with our lights one day so went to reception and they sorted the problem whilst we were out what was fantastic. All the staff we spoke to were very so polite and a credit to the hotel. The Only slight negative (but due to only our fussiness) was the breakfast, very basic which we knew it would be but I would recommend the hotel at least getting a toaster.
Great stay and lovely hotel, would definately stay again if we go back to Copenhagen 👍

We booked Wake Up as we needed an affordable place to stay during our 4 night Christmas getaway to Copenhagen. We were very pleased on the whole with our choice and would definitely recommend and book again.
Upon arrival we were impressed with the decor and feel of the lobby/reception which featured many comfy seating areas and TV screens. Check in was easy with self service machines and reception staff available if needed.
We got to our room and were pleasantly surprised with its size - I had read reviews suggesting rooms were perhaps too small but I wouldn’t agree. It was definitely large enough for the 2 of us to fit comfortably. The double bed was big enough and comfortable and we slept without any interruptions or distractions. It is made up with 2 single duvets which actually works great if you are 2 people of very different temperatures! The hotel was quiet during the night and the AC/heating allowed us to set the room to any temperature we wanted. The room featured a TV with various channels showing local and international programs and a desk, plus an en suite with a good sized shower. No complaints about any of this. The only thing to note about the room is that it lacked some basic extras such as a kettle, water, or mini fridge to store anything which meant we couldn’t buy much from a supermarket to save money. This would have been a nice extra but given it is a budget hotel it isn’t the end of the world.
The location of the hotel is great, we could walk fairly quickly into the centre but, if required, bikes were also available to hire. It is also easily accessible by bus/train/metro from the airport.
On check out we did have to pay extra for a locker token to store our luggage during the day before heading to the airport, but again, not a huge deal.
On the whole we had a great stay and are pleased with our experience and the price we paid.

During our stay, myself and my party encountered several issues.
Firstly, our rooms were not being cleaned to an adequate standard each day. When returning to the rooms after a day out and the cleaning staff had been in, there were still crumbs found at the end of the bed every single day during our stay.
Secondly, the welcome sheet sent via email details that sheets would be changed on the fourth day of our 5 day stay. This was not the case, as evidenced by small stains still being present on the sheets on the final night.
Thirdly, we found that we were not given enough towels on one of the days during our stay. This was rectified by speaking to the cleaning staff directly and getting an additional towel from their cart.
Fourthly, all 4 of our keycards suddenly stopped working on the fourth night of our stay. As a result, we found ourselves unable to operate the lift once we entered it and, before we were able to get out, the lift ascended to the 9th floor. This was an extremely upsetting experience for one of our adult travellers and our toddler. We were staying on the 3rd floor and had to descend 6 flights of stairs with a pushchair to get to our rooms, where we found we were locked out. When we returned to the front desk to get this fixed, new key cards were issued with no sign of an apology for the inconvenience or hardship suffered.
Finally, on the final night of our stay, we ordered a takeaway to our room via Just-Eat.dk. The courier mistakenly delivered to the front desk rather than the room. I was not notified by the hotel or Just-Eat.dk that the order had been delivered. Over an hour had passed before I went to the reception and found out the food had been delivered there and absolutely no attempt had been made by the front desk staff to let me know it had arrived (despite both my phone number and email address being on the reservation). As a result, the food was cold and utterly inedible.
Overall, having stayed at WakeUp Carsten Niebhurs Gade previously, I was extremely disappointed in the service and experience on this visit. Even during check-out, there was no attempt from the front desk staff to find out how our stay was or to ask us if we had any issues. With reference to this and all the reasons outlined above, I will not stay at this hotel again and would recommend other visitors to Copenhagen to find alternative accommodation.

Arrived early and asked for room. Not done yet, but for DKK100 extra per night another room with "water view" was offered. Accepted. Room was big enough and the bed acceptable. For some reason the bed is pushed totally against the corner with no room on one side. Breakfast a bit poor, but maybe due to the Covid-19 situation. Location is perfect. Copenhagen city centre is "just around the corner" and can be reached within 10 min. walk. TIP: Pay 24 hours parking, DKK195. You can take your car in/out as much as you like without being charged DKK45/hour

Responded 07 Sept 2020
Dear Carsten L, Thank you for your review of your stay with us. We are happy to see you liked with the room and the location of our hotel close to the city centre. It is true that the bed is in the corner but it is how the architect decided the design of the rooms should be when the hotel was build 10 years ago. We are sorry to hear if you did not enjoy our breakfast. I can inform you that our breakfast is partly organic, with quality bread from a Danish bakery named Meyers. This is something we have made a priority since we would rather be able to offer quality instead of quantity. We are still a 2 star hotel, why our price for the breakfast needs to follow our other prices at the hotel. This means that we are not able to offer a full buffet for DKK 90. We hope to see you again and wish you a lovely day. Kindly, Cristina Duty Manager

Nice rooms, efficiently furnished. The rooms were quiet. No noise form the street, location is still on walking distance to attractions in Kopenhagen. Good breakfast is offered, vouchers are available at the reception. A locked garage is available for bicycles.

+1
We stayed here from 26th - 29th November. We took the train from the airport to central station costing around £8 for two people and the walked for about 15 minutes to the hotel. We arrived after 4pm and were greeted by a friendly member of staff and checked in quickly and efficiently. We had room 422, the rooms are small but well planned out and more than adequate for a few days. The bed is made up with one duvet and 1 pillow with a spare of each under the bed in the drawer. We didn’t try breakfast at the hotel but did go to the next eatery for the pizza buffet that was advertised in the hotel lobby. This was good value for money (99DKK) in our opinion and we did also note that their breakfast was also cheaper than the Wake Up! one at only 49DKK. The hotel is a great base for exploring the city and most things are around 10 - 20 minute walk away. Some of our favourite places to eat were the Gasoline Grill, DOP and War pigs brew pub.

We really enjoyed our stay here. On arrival we checked in ourselves at the self-service computers - reception is available 24/7 but we were happy to DIY. Checkout was also available as DIY - all you had to do was drop your key card in a box which was handy as it meant we didn't have to queue.
The bed was comfortable and the small room size didn’t bother us as we only had a 2 night stay with a mini suitcase. The shower room contained hand wash and hair/body wash which was useful and there was hot water at all times. You can't really see into the shower room, you can only make out a person's outline so don't let that worry you as I've seen other reviews mention it. The hotel has ample lifts/elevators which all worked.
The lobby area was comfortable and we spent some time relaxing there after checkout on our last day and used a power point to charge our phones. The 20kr lockers for luggage are really handy too but you need coins for this (reception changed a note for us). The snack bar beside reception is a great option. We didn’t test out the breakfast as we found the breakfast buffet at the nearby Next Eatery to be more affordable and it's on the way to central station (69kr pp).
The hotel is about a 10 min walk from the hotel to Central Station and Tivoli Gardens so a really handy location. From Central Station it's only 3 stops on the metro to Nyhavn.

The hotel was clearly overwhelmed on that particular week-end: no room cleaning (!!), bar closes at 10pm...
The rooms are quite small, ok for a single person, for a couple too small if you expect to spend time in the room other than sleeping and shower
The hotel is very clean, the breakfast surprisingly good for the price, simple and quick check-in/check-out process. Location is OK, quite central

The location is reasonable with a short 15 minute walk into the city centre and the main central train station being a short 5 minute walk away. The room is very basic, and small, and when we arrived there was no kettle, the hotel stated we could request hot water but then they charge a silly amount for something so basic. The air conditioning was incredibly poor and the room was hot so we had to sleep with windows open and then got the noise of trains all night. The soap dispenser was empty and refilled on request but frustrating that such details are not looked after by the hotel. The wifi was reasonable but dropped out a lot during our visit. The breakfast was not great and they charge a lot for quite a limited range and we found a lot of the plates, bowls and cutlery were not very clean. The cleaning staff were friendly and did a good job but the reception staff were not so friendly or helpful. For the amount paid this hotel was not great value for money and i would recommend looking at other options if you are staying in Copenhagen for more than one night.

Dear Edhutch71, Thank you very much for taking the time to review us. We always greatly appreciate this, although I'm sorry to see that you were not satisfied with your stay. Our hotel follows a budget concept, which means that we offer small, functioning rooms for lower prices, but that we do charge extra for services such as luggage storage, laundry service, and hot water. This is done in order to keep the prices of the rooms down. With regards to the amenities in the room, these should of course be up to par and functioning at all times, and I'm sorry if this was not the case. I'm sorry to hear if you did not enjoy our breakfast. This means that we are not able to offer a full buffet for DKKR 95. However, it will always be an option to visit Tivoli Brasserie, just next door at our sister hotel, Tivoli Hotel, which you can buy for DKKR 170-200 I hope this helps to a better understanding of our breakfast buffet. I'm further sorry to hear that you were not nahppy with the level of service provided by the reception staff. This is something we care a great deal about and it therefore saddesn me to hear, that it did not meet your expectations. We will have to review this internally. I'm glad to see that you enjoyed our location and I hope you got to see Copenhagen from its best side. Kind regards, Cecilie Front desk

depens in what floor the reception put you on, but the breakfast costs around 120kr per person and baby should not pay. Keep in mind that the rooms are very loud so you can hear your neighbor... Hope you have a good stay.
I doubt that. But you can find laundry facilities in town near by. So no problem.
Hello
Unfortunately we do not have kettles in our rooms.
Best regards
Madalina
Plenty of fresh clean towels every day
We picked a heaven room and it was nice but it really wouldn't have mattered which room because we were hardly ever there. In fact I'd select a cheaper lower room in future to save some money!
