We just were hosted at Amalia hotel for 6 days exploring Athens and over all our stay was above expectation. The hotel has an excellent location close to Syntagma square and next to the Parliament with a daily Guard mounting at 10:00 A.M. And Ermo Street with many stores & pleases to eat In front of the hotel you should visit the amazing National garden. From the Airport there is X95 that will drop you at the Syntagma square which is 2 minutes walking to the hotel for 5.90 euro instead of up to 50 euro by a taxi,
The breakfast was very good with wide variety of tradition Greek food. But most of all we found that the hotel stuff to be an amazing asset & kind try to do everything possible to answer any request or need we have. We would like to praise Dimitri Kluee & Julia at the front desk and the room maid Violeta on the 3 floor for outstanding performance we defiantly recommend the hotel to be a great place stay In Athens !!!

Recommended to us by some friends who had previously stayed and we were glad with our choice. Very professional staff. Very helpful and welcoming. Our first room at the front was a bit noisy at night (possibly because of a double glazing problem) so we were moved to another room without any fuss at all. The breakfast is ok. Good Covid observance with compulsory masks and gloves to be used by all residents.
Great location, right opposite the National Gardens and all the main attractions are within walking distance.

A great hotel to do your exploring of Athens.

It is in an excellent location.

If you take the X95 bus from the airport (takes about 45 mins) it will drop you off in Syntagma Square and the hotel is two minutes around the corner. If you arrive late like we did, there are some places nearby to grab a bite to eat.

The hotel is directly opposite the National Garden and the Presidential Mansion ready for the changing of the guard ceremony at 11am every Sunday.

If you are young and reasonably fit (we are late forties with a 14 year old) you can walk to all the main attractions: the Panathenaic Stadium (straight through the Gardens); 15 mins to the Acropolis; and we walked back and forth down past Monastiraki Square; the Roman Agora; the Ancient Agora; and all the little streets surrounding these attractions.

We took a taxi from outside the hotel (just hailed one down) to Lycabettus Hill - cost €6/7.

The hotel was quiet; has a great shower, nice toiletries, comfy beds. The breakfast was plentiful with a good variety including fresh juices; coffee & tea; cereals; toast; pastries; cakes; pancakes; fruit and a cooked breakfast.

The photos are taken from the rooftop

We've previously stayed at this hotel twice before and all was great. It's a nice hotel situated in a central position. I booked our stay this time direct with the hotel in November 2019 at a cost of 200 euros per night but due to Covid things have changed. Housekeeping is on request which isn't a problem but the tea/coffee facilities in the room had been removed. We were told we could phone room service for some to be delivered but when we did just after 10pm we were told it's too late.
The prices seem to have dropped due to Covid & the cost now for the room we stayed in with a balcony is showing at £119.53 per night & still advertising a mini bar plus 24 hours room service. This is practically half what I paid with less facilities.
Had I noticed this in time I would have cancelled my reservation & rebooked at the lesser charge. Needless to say I will not be staying here on my next visit to Athens

After a longer than desired hiatus we returned to the Amalia Hotel in Athens for our sixth stay that is always a must when we travel to Greece. We keep coming back as the quality and care of service by all staff is exceptional and an unbeatable location in short distance to many great sites in the center of Athens. This time we were treated to a very spacious suite on the top floor with a terrace that provided a great view of several prominent sites including the Hellenic Parliament where we could watch the changing of the guard without leaving the room. The staff as mentioned are always attentive and will do their utmost to assist with any matters and would like to extend a special note of appreciation to Nikos Fallieras who made every effort to ensure a personalized great stay. We look forward to our next visit to the hotel and hope to see everyone soon!

We stayed here in 2019, stayed again 3 nights on our way to Skiathos for Easter. Hotel is very clean, all staff are friendly, reception printed out our internal flight check in for us. Our room was fab overlooking the National gardens entrance, didn't really use the balcony as the weather wasn't that good but lovely views from it. Breakfast was good liked the gloves guests had to wear on entering the breakfast food area, also nice area for a drink at night. Ideal for all the tourist places and shopping. Would never stay anywhere else whilst in Athens.

This hotel is in an excellent location for sightseeing in Athens. It is very close to the metro at Syntagma Square where the airport line comes through. The hotel itself is clean and comfortable and rooms have tea and coffee making facilities as well as bath robes and slippers. Staff are professional, friendly and helpful. Like many others who have reviewed the hotel, our only complaint was that the room was too warm for us during an unusually warm spell in February and the air conditioning was not available. It's worth taking the lift to the 7th floor terrace at night to see the views of the floodlit Acropolis. It would be a great place to have an evening drink in the summer when the bar there is open. We would return if we visit Athens again.

I visited Amalia Hotel a few days go on business. I had booked a deluxe single and the put me on the 6th floor. My room was very spacious, the bathroom was enormous, and from my balcony I could see the Parliament, the National Garden and Mt Lycabettus. The view was great and it became spectacular at night with the lights on! The room was very clean, the bed comfy, the coffee/tea tray a very nice touch and the wardrobe spacious - even for a long trip -. The breakfast selection was one of the best I've seen in 4-star hotels and the tastiest. Location is perfect if you have business downtown or if you're on holidays (The Acropolis, Syntagma, Kolonaki, Plaka, major museums, Ermou for shopping are all within walking distance). It's also a very safe place and I never felt uneasy even late at night. The staff is always there to help. Thank you Amalia and your people! Looking forward to returning!

The hotels is great, friendly staff, excellent food. Breakfast and whispers, the roof top restaurant. Rooms are clean. Room cleaning staff is very accommodating and do a great job.The hotel is also close to all major attractions, the acropolis is a 15 minute walk right through the market square. Next door to the hotel are several coffee shops and restaurants. the only down side to this hotel is the size of the bathroom. At best it is 6 ft sq. The shower is 24 inches x 30 inches, so slightly smaller than an average broom closet. I am six feet tall and 220 lbs and I struggled just to reach everywhere with the soap. I do not know if every rooms bathroom is this small our room certainly was. The water got hot very quickly so that part is nice. If you are my size and enjoy a little more room in the shower this may not be the place for you.

We arrived at the hotel in the early hours in the morning as our flights were delayed because of bad weather. The reception was waiting for us and made our check in effortless.
The breakfast in the morning was excellent offering many Greek delicacies. The central position of the hotels, just a few metres from the airport bus stop or from the Athens metro make it an ideal short stay. Perhaps the rooms are looked a bit dated but the warm hospitality compensated for it.

There is no special car service, taxis are flat rate. You may take the express bus X95 to Syntagma (Constitution) Square. Hotel Amalia is just 50 meters away from the terminal bus stop. (taxi is 40 or 45 euros, bus ticket 6 euros per person). Sorry, I can only recommend (since I visited it) the Kuzina restaurant. you should ask for a table at the first floor veranda, the view is great especially at night. Enjoy Athens and Greece
