A century-old building in central Athens transformed into a boutique hotel Asomaton ( = without a body ) has been three years in the making. The building was made from wood and stone in the early 1900, initially to function as a carriage wheel repair shop. It went on to become an elegant townhouse but has been abandoned for the last 20 years, so in close collaboration with the Greek Ministry of Culture this listed building has been transformed into a Boutique Hotel. Historical essence blends with a contemporary outlook; the building’s original stone has been carefully refinished, an indoor swimming pool was created; it is located very close to the Acropolis with amazing views from the terrace. New York based Greek artist Philip Tsiaras hosts his pop-artworks onsite.

Detailed Reviews
Stayed for one night as ferry from Sifnos didn't tie in with flight time but meant there wasn't too much travelling in one day. Got a taxi from Pireus Port about 20 minutes away.
After struggling to find the door for the hotel (as its not very obvious) we got in and were assisted with luggage.
Very clean and comfortable room and spacious, it has a terrace outside but not private as I'd assumed from the description.
Room could have done with drawers and a full length mirror and also drinking glasses.
Lovely bathroom and shower but could do with frosted glass on back of shower as people walking past outside the room would be able to see in through the bedroom windows through to the bathroom.
The staff were very helpful in giving local advice and bringing glasses when requested.
Lovely pool and jacquzzi but it needs privacy from passers by in the lounge/reception such as tall plants. It also has a slippery floor which was passed to the reception staff.
The general staircase needs a rail as the stairs are see through so can make you feel disillusioned. My friend almost fell-passed onto staff.
Lovely breakfast with a big selection served on the roof terrace overlooking the Acropolis.
Restaurants, bars and shops nearby as well as national gardens and Acropolis within walking distances.
Train station is a 5 minute walk- 9 euros to the airport, an hour appox away by 2 trains.
The hotel had recently opened so some of the issues may have been resolved by now hopefully as they would have been overlooked in the planning/opening.

Stayed here for with my friend for a 4 night stay. Great location within walking distance of bars, restaurants and the Acropolis. The staff here were lovely, welcoming and really helpful. Breakfast was great and we booked ours to be served on the roof terrace - where we also whiled away the odd afternoon hour with a bottle of fizz purchased on site for a very reasonable price! The room ( a twin Junior suite ) was very spacious, immaculate, light and airy with hanging space ( but no drawers ) This hotel is definitely a hidden gem which I wouldn't hesitate in recommending and also returning too

+1
Stayed for a cpl nights prior to moving onto the islands. Very inconspicuous entrance with a buzzer/key fob entry so we definitely felt safe.
Hotel is minimalist/stylish with an unusual plunge pool off the reception area.
Rooms are basic & clean. Breakfast can be served off reception, in your room & on the terrace, was ok but nothing to get excited about.
Well located from the main shopping drag which was handy as our suitcases didn’t make it with us from London.
Main sights such as museum/Acropolis approx a 20 min walk.
View from the terrace is fab. No bar but there is a wine fridge you can purchase from.
Perfectly fine for a couple nights & not badly priced for June.

Cannot fault the hotel at all and we loved our stay. The hotel location is very central and we didn't need to use the metro during our stay as all the main attractions were in easy walking distance. The hotel is aesthetically lovely with a spa like feel, the roof terrace has amazing unobstructed Acropolis views and we thoroughly enjoyed the complimentary breakfast on the roof each morning. We'd seen some complaints on here about the pool being just off the lobby but this didn't bother us at all - the staff were very accommodating and there were blinds they closed when we used the pool and as the hotel is so small we were usually the only guests downstairs while using it and we loved coming back after a busy hot day and going for a swim in such a central location where most nearby hotels don't have a pool. We had one of the smallest rooms in the property but it was very clean and perfectly big enough for two. The shower was lovely too. The only minor things I could think of was that the only mirror was in the bathroom and it would have been useful to have more than one for when we were both getting ready at the same time and there wasn't any shelves or drawers only hanging space but the beds were very comfortable and the room was cool and quiet (we didn't hear any noise from either other rooms or outside). The staff were really lovely, everything we needed was sorted promptly and they gave us good recommendations for food nearby. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Athens and if we come back to Athens I would definitely return to Asomaton! Thank you for a lovely holiday!

Fantastic boutique hotel central to everything. This is a beautiful hotel with a jaw dropping view of the Acropolis from the rooftop terrace. Wines by the bottle can be bought at the front desk and the staff is happy to provide all the supplies to have drinks and soak in this AMAZING view. Beautiful rooms with nice extra touches like high quality toiletries and bath robes. The breakfasts are really good with many choices and great food which can also be taken on the rooftop but they tend to run about 30 minutes late on table delivery so schedule yours early to make your tours on time. Room fridges are well stocked with a tasty and affordable array of non-alcoholic drinks. The staff (especially Yroti and Kristina) really go far above and beyond to help in any way. Highly recommend this for couples and solo travelers. Would not be suitable for families and people with children.

Stayed from 7-9 July. For one night and morning during our stay our room had no running water (bathroom sink, toilet wouldn’t flush or no shower). Complained to Margaret at the front desk and she said hotel mgmt would contact for a refund and now the hotel is avoiding any contact with me. AVOID!
Rooms are also not soundproof, and missing basic necessities such as a mirror and cupboard space. Made to order breakfast sounds great but order was taken wrong twice. Highly recommend the Fresh hotel instead - we stayed in 2 hotels in Athens during our stay (beginning and end of trip) and this was far worse.

Hotel is nice, unfortunately for us there were bed bugs in the room, I still have bites all over my body. One of the nights I cought one alive and took it to the desk the next morning. They apologized and change me to another room but that was all. If you go there make sure you wash all your belongings before unpacking...

Booked hotel through Booking.com indicating guest was my significant other. Significant other arrived. Hotel could not find reservation. Significant other called me in a panic. Receptionist refused to speak to me on significant other's phone. Texted screenshot of reservation to significant other. Then announced they required us to refund and recharge the booking on significant other's card. I called hotel and asked to speak to manager. Told that no manager was on duty and no manager had cellphone. Had to call Booking.com and after a long and expensive international call, Booking knocked some sense into them. Never again.

Stayed at this hotel for our honeymoon and we were blown away. It’s in a really central part of the city, with an amazing Acropolis view from the rooftop, but it’s still out of the way enough from the bustling markets and squares to feel relaxing. We were greeted with a complimentary bottle of wine for our honeymoon, which felt really special and thoughtful!
The building itself is this elegant mix of very old foundations and sleek modern design. The pool is actually just off from the lobby, but don’t let that dissuade you from having a swim after a hot day sightseeing!
The breakfast is VAST! They serve a 3 course breakfast either to your room or to the rooftop for a morning view of the Parthenon. I would say that we debated a standard/ Acropolis view room and went for the former - the view from the rooftop is wonderful and we felt we had made the right choice.
The capped things off with a complimentary wine and charcuterie the evening before we checked out. I will 100% stay here again the next time I visit Athens!

From initial impressions, this property falls far short of expectations. I arrived before check in time and found the staff to be complacent. No updates on anticipated check in time was given and desk clerks did excellent job of avoiding eye contact Still waiting for a room assignment but not optimistic. The magic hour approaches and it’s yet to be seen if room is worth the wait.
