The hotel is quite interesting but you don’t have to lodge for going to the restaurant; they are open to the public from outside. Lunch time they offer menus with quite good prices. The service and the food are both good. Enjoy!
Staff at hotel were really friendly and bent over backwards to help. Food really good with a fantastic breakfast, with bacon eggs and sausages. Plenty of fruit and loads of cakes. One downfall was that the bed was very hard
I stay at hotels twice a month on average plus work at one, I’ve never had this happen to me and had no solution to be found! The worst part are the beds, they are worse than sleeping on the floor! Service is not acceptable from a 4 star hotel! Won’t be paying upfront from now on and won’t be coming to this hotel ever again!!! I booked the hotel for 7 days a month in advanced paying upfront, what a mistake! The first day in the hotel we arrived at 11pm we did the check-in where the receptionist didn’t even greet us, we weren’t explained anything at all not even the breakfast opening and closing times! The next morning we got up and got to the breakfast at 10:29am the closing time was 10:30am and the weiter tried to kick us out since he couldn’t they started to put all the buffet away, we had to run to see what we wanted. Then we went to the parking to head to town with the car, since the parking has a machine to pay and I wasn’t explained anything I tried to pay, the bills didn’t work the coins either so go up to reception to find out that you had to get the ticket in reception! If that wasn’t enough when we got to the hotel in the afternoon and we decided it was time to try the spa. We didn’t have the luck to try it, first we want down to -1 level were we where told that we needed hats and we needed to pay 5€ “ok I don’t have money on me bill it to the room” that wasn’t posible the gym isn’t from the hotel I tried to pay with credit card also not posible so we went to the room for money, went down to get kick out for not wearing the bathrobe I’m not wearing it since it dosnt fit me by 3 sizes I’m a big guy! So we decide to go to the room once again second time I must add. We head down and now we are let passed the gym to arrive at the lockers were we must leave all our outside clothes no slippers to be found! We pass the lockers and find the spa finally, first reaction from the guy there you have no slippers you can’t come in “ok give me some slippers” no you have to go to reception!!! I did go to reception angry as I was for the situation and told them that I wanted to be compensated somehow and that they should talk to the manager and get back to me, it has been 2 days I’ve gone to the reception several time and no compensation to be found and no manager to talk to! …
For an extended weekend of 3 nights visiting the villages of Minho region in Easter, the Axis Viana Business & SPA Hotel was the choice because all other hotels were booked. And to be honest, was not a bad option. The hotel is located in the east part of Viana do Castelo, opposite to the ocean. It’s true that is not near of the main sites of this town or restaurants, but you have a MacDonald’s literally next door. If you walk around 15-20min, you can reach on foot , the old town with the streets facing the river, Santa Luzia elevator and the train station that is also a shopping center with restaurants, supermarket and clothe stores. The hotel has a lot of light with big windows and in the price is including towels and access to spa pool. The rooms are big and very cozy, clean and good sleep quality. The breakfast is simple, not the variety expected of a 4 star hotel, but decent. And in here, in the breakfast, was the true negative point of my stay in this hotel! I got really annoyed because every time I want something from the breakfast tables a member of the staff was in the way or blocking the access or pass. And the guests are the ones that have to dodge the collisions because they don’t simple care. It happened every days with every guest. In conclusion a good stay.…
It is very far to walk to the town in the heat so it is very isolated. There were not that many guests there and it was very quiet and dull. The red and the black decor looks very much like it needs an update and is very worn . The food was average looked ok but no taste . The pool is for swimming lengths only so no fun allowed there. Overall I felt it was not a good place to relax or have a good time and there was nothing good to say about it that made me feel like I was on holiday it is more like an airport hotel ... just to sleep and go
