Enotel Lido has received mixed reviews; while guests commend the hotel for its spotless cleanliness and prime location perfect for coastal strolls and city excursions, opinions on value are less favorable due to perceived shortcomings in restaurant quality and additional costs. The rooms are praised for their cleanliness and comfort despite some maintenance issues.
Staff members at Enotel Lido are frequently lauded for their exemplary service. However, the hotel's atmosphere and noise levels have drawn criticism, with some guests finding the environment either lacking in vibrancy or disruptively loud.

Detailed Reviews
Overall a much needed and relaxing holiday. The room was spotless and had all the amenities required although we had to ask for extra towels as only two were provided for a family of four (beach and bath). Drinks (soft drinks cans) provided in the fridge and replenished each day. Reusable bottles for water also provided.
The food was good. Plenty of choice. We only ate once in the Italian as we found the set menu too inhibiting for young children.
The drinks on offer were good. We didn’t find the queues that bad at all at the bars - certainly not forty minutes long as other reviewers have said. Maybe five minutes max.
The elevator situation was annoying. We were on floor ten and there was only one working lift out of two on our side. Guests would get in a lift to go down even if we had called it to our floor so we couldn’t get in. This is more of a criticism of the guests being selfish I guess but this would have been helped had there been two working lifts.
The staff generally worked hard - some could have been a little friendlier but they did their best for a super busy time. The entertainment staff worked really hard particularly.
The hotel itself was beautiful, spacious and clean. The pool also was stunning. I have to agree though with other reviewers, it isn’t big enough for the hotel and there aren’t enough beds. If you’ve not reserved a bed by 7.30am you won’t get one. And if you want one for the whole family, near the pool and with an umbrella you need to be there at 6.30am. I always vowed not to be one of ‘those people’ that reserved beds but in the end, if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em.
We probably won’t be returning to maderia as we hope to continue visiting other countries and islands of the world but if we did, I probably wouldn’t chose this hotel with children as the pool became boring very quickly. I guess that’s why there were so many float in it! If the hotel wants to market itself as a family hotel it probably needs to think about a pool with a slide. The pool under the restaurant terrace which used to be the spa pool is dark and dingy and completely unused for this reason. Maybe they could develop this?

I would highly recommend this hotel. The staff are just wonderful and go out of their way to ensure your stay is comfortable. Only exception was the reception staff, not quite so lovely as all the waiters and bar staff sadly. We are quite well travelled as a family and I would say this is the best all-inclusive hotel we have stayed in. The rooms and the hotel in general are so spotless, we had a room on the third floor overlooking the pool and with a sea view. The food - oh wow! The food is amazing, so much choice at every meal time. We really got our moneys worth as it was so good, absolutely everybody catered for, sometimes in the evening we were just spoilt for choice. At every mealtime the waiters serve you drinks so you don't have to go and get them yourself which is a great touch. My nine year old daughter can be quite fussy and she loved meal times. The pizza that they serve at lunchtime is gorgeous, made in front of you. Lots of wonderful salads, veggies and meat/fish options.
The rooms are cleaned daily to a very high standard. They also supply you with pool towels and the bathroom is stocked with great toiletries. They also give you your own plastic water bottles in your room that you can write your name on and refill.
The pool is quite small sadly, we went in half term and it wasn't that busy, not sure how they will cope in the height of summer but that was just one very small downside, plus its absolutely freezing!
The hotel is well situated with shops, other bars and restaurants close by. We only ate out one night as we found the hotel food so good. We got a taxi in to Funchal a few times which is a lovely place to visit. We also did a whale watching trip and spotted three Sperm whales, lovely experience.
The hotel employs a Hawk, "Jamie" to patrol around breakfast and lunchtimes to keep the pesky pigeons away, however the local pigeons must know that after 3pm the Jamie goes home and they come down and grab everything left on tables near the pool. They were a bit of a pest come 3/4pm, but again just a small downside.
The drinks were fab, the waiters often bring out trays of cocktails and wander around serving them to people, I drank so much Aperol Spritz I'm surprised I didn't turn orange (!)
I would highly recommend this hotel and Madeira in general. The local taxi drivers were great, one took us to Ronaldo's house to show us where he lives when he's "home". Madeira is just so pretty too, well worth a visit. We travelled 25th October for a week and the weather was amazing. Thank you Enotel Lido for a wonderful holiday.

Sitting by the pool on our last day, this being our second visit (we came March 2020) before lock down and refurb.
Hotel lives up to its standards of friendliness, cleanliness, rooms cleaned everyday, sheets and towels can be exchanged everyday if you wish, staff from cleaners to manager were very engaging, helpful and friendly. Our booking had changed many times due to COVID and room was not what we were expecting ( sea-sea side view) but had been up graded to double family room, the room was very nice but we prefer to be pool, sea side view, the upgrade was on the quieter side of the hotel. Reception moved us with no fuss at all.
Food is what it is, all inclusive buffet style,
Breakfast was lovely everyday
Lunch was the norm from burgers, chicken, chips and salads.
Dinner a bit hit and miss depending on tastes but you would have to be super picky not to find anything at each meal time, drinks all branded and free flowing ( great for the holiday price) Hotel right next to Atlantic, such a refreshing swim but very rocky.
SUN BEDS - not a complaint but can be classed as sun bed wars on occasion. Some days plenty, some days not, not the hotel or staffs fault but you can only put so many sun beds in one place, never had a problem with getting one before 9.30 but have witnessed sun bed hawkers claiming there so called spot as early as 5am but don’t let that put you off. Being a night person was a bit disappointed you could not get a alcoholic after midnight but as they say we are still in a pandemic and this are slowing getting back to normal.
Room TVs had loads of info and QR codes for places to get tested for return journey, if you go on Madeira Safe you can get a free test (antigen not Pcr) if you don’t need testing on your arrival. Lovely place for family’s and it been nice to watch kids enjoying themselves with their parents at the pool. The pool is amazing and online pics do not do it justice and only show before refurb. Entertainment is what it is in a foreign country and I get what they done with what people call the car park, they have gone for the underground vibe which would work better if it was filled with coloured light and paint work. My return would be timed when kids are still at school but thats my preference, to be on holiday so soon / during pandemic has been amazing. Bang in the money for a family holiday.

This was our 3rd visit to the hotel and unfortunately will be the last.
The level of services on offer has definitely dropped.
On arrival, having paid the additional fee for a sea view room we was offered a ground floor room with a tree trunk directly in front of the patio and then when trying to tell reception we had paid for a sea view was told "the hotel only does partial sea views"
Strangely when I continued to refuse the room on offer, we was then given the keys to a room on the 8th floor looking directly out to sea by another lady at the reception desk!!
There are still some good bits:
The majority of staff are great-friendly and willing to assist where ever possible
Branded drinks and all bars in general are excellent
Rooms are spotlessly clean and well maintained
The not so good bits:
We felt the choice of food in the main dining room has dropped
Only the pool side restaurant is open during the day with the same food on offer every day
The standard of entertainment on some nights has gone downhill-we are in the “younger” age group in the hotel even though we are in our 50’s and one night we are watching kids break dancing!! Heaven knows what the seniors thought of it
Speciality restaurants rarely open so always a struggle to get a seat
I know the hotel has had to cut costs to survive but in my humble opinion it has taken them out of the 5 star/luxury bracket we had experience in our previous visits.
We will definitely be returning to Madeira this year as we both love this fantastic, beautiful, friendly island but will be booking one of the other hotels in the Pestana Promenade.

We have just returned from a 7 day stay at the hotel, the room was on the 8th floor, lovely set out, full sea view with a balcony. We had to request a kettle for the room, which was duly provided, but the housekeeping kept forgetting to leave coffees, and you request a full carton of milk from the bar.
The Hotel acknowledged my birthday whilst I was there with a bird of paradise flower in my room, which was a lovely gesture
Breakfast was nice buffet style as were the other meals, we always found something to eat. We were not impressed by the Madeiran ala carte though, potatoes not cooked and sadly the scabbard fish was tasteless, did not try the Italian one though.
The main gripe was that if you wanted a coffee early morning the machine sometimes was not full or working correctly, with nothing to put anything in ie cups.
The hotel is clean and dependant on who was working you were reminded to use a mask around the service areas, although some staff overlooked this.
The taxis around the area are fickle in fares we travelled same distance several times and prices for same distance ranged from 5.60 to 10 euros and the latter one didnt have his meter on ( but was a yellow licensed one )

We have visited this hotel many times - We don`t get a chance to get away with cows and horses and both working full time but in this hotel I can empty my head and thoroughly chill out. There have been a few changes but overall it is still great.and made all the better by such a great staff. it is spotlessly clean and the house staff are all great and nothing is too much bother. Hats off to cooking, restaurant, bar, domestic and reception staff. I was also impressed that they no longer use single use plastics in the restaurant - all glass containers and help yourself. Well done.

Like many I’m just so grateful to be back on holiday and the measures to get into the country made me feel very assured. In the past 18 months I’ve paid £20 for 9 toilet rolls and paid over the odds for random things from Amazon so my barometer for value and a price I’m willing to pay for things has massively changed. The world has gone through a massive experience and therefore we all need a level of patience and expectation.
The hotel opened the week before we arrived and like all of us is trying to find the new way of doing things so I personally would never have opted to be a guinea pig and gone the first week. It’s also had a huge renovation and doesn’t look anything like the pictures - it’s better so therefore not an issue but a pleasant surprise. The hotel is very much “ask and you shall receive “ and everyday things have got better and better so I cannot fault their effort. Yes it’s busy but everyone is courteous and happy to be on holiday. There are no queues now and plenty of options and space if you want it. The lack of a la cartes is still an issue but it’s not the end of the world and the food has got better each day…it’s also still better than my cooking so I can’t criticise. They now squirt the hand sanitizer on you when you enter dinner and I’m happy to help myself at the buffet and not wait to be served. The sports bar area is like a car park (as someone mentioned in another review) but I’m older so I think it’s what the modern day architects call “urban”. It actually contains the noise at night and the concrete makes it a very cool temperature so it’s a good use of space really.
Sunbed availability exists in many hotels and the early bird always catches the worm , that said they have increased them and I haven’t seen anyone wandering around disappointed anymore.
Overall I would give this hotel A for effort in dealing with everyone’s concerns about their hotel. They have opened their doors and their island for us Brits etc who could potentially bring the virus and ruin everything for them so I applaud them for that.
So come with a grateful attitude and just ask them if you need something, they won’t disappoint. The hotel can’t be that bad as Manchester City’s goalkeeper is staying here!! See picture.

We have not long returned from a weeks stay at this hotel. We were warned in advance by Jet2 that the outdoor pool was being repaired, but this had no impact at all on our stay. The food was very good in the buffet, and we also tried three of the themed restaurants all of which were very good. Make sure you book these when you check in and also advise of any allergies to ensure that these are taken into account. For all inclusive it was a very pleasant surprise to be served premium spirits.
Our room was on the 10th floor and had a front sea view which was excellent. Maids did a very good job and towels and linen were changed whenever required. All staff were friendly and helpful, with particular mention of Vitalima in the restaurant - we shall definitely miss her smiling face and her singing!
Thanks Enotel for a lovely holiday

Just back from a 5 night stay at the Enotel Lido, with mixed feelings.
On arrival we were warmly greeted and advised our room was not ready, but we could use all the hotel facilities. We were fine with this as I had previously communicated with the hotel and had been advised that due to high occupancy they would try, but could not guarantee that the room would be ready on arrival.
The staff at this hotel are wonderful and the ones we interacted with were so helpful and friendly. Conrad, one of the staff in the buffet restaurant always spoke to us and asked if there was anything we needed.
The food in all restaurants including the buffet was outstanding. It was good quality, hot, flavoursome and well presented. My only negative comment on the food would be the lunchtime snacks. As the burgers and hot dogs were not cooked to order, they would end up being lukewarm when eating.
If you want a quiet holiday this is not the hotel for you, as we found it very noisy with the loud music being played, during daytime and evening entertainment periods.
Being high season, it was 100% occupancy and I would say that 95% of the guests were families/extended families. Whilst I do appreciate it is peak season, the hotel needs to consider all its guests needs. You could not enter the pool without getting very close to a large inflatable toy. In my view, when you have such high occupancy, large inflatables should not be allowed in the pool. The hotel has a policy of not placing towels onto sun beds without occupancy. However, every single day unoccupied sun beds and umbrellas were unused for hours yet had towels in place. I’m not sure how this could be managed but the policy needs to be reviewed and actioned to stop this practice. We did mange to obtain sun beds, however there is hardly any room between the beds, but I’m guessing this was due to high occupancy.
The drinks at the bar are excellent with branded spirits and the Rosé wine is certainly drinkable.
Our room was on the third floor with a pleasant view of the pool and sea. The room was clean and modern with a good shower. We did have some issues with the air conditioning, which after two complaints was fixed and worked perfectly well afterwards. During our stay it was my Birthday and I would like to thank the hotel for the surprise and delights they provided, with some flowers and a birthday card left in the room, then a special birthday cake with candle in the restaurant, along with some sparkling wine. This was a very kind and appreciated gesture.
I do have mixed emotions, if I were to stay here again. Perhaps I would, for all the positive reasons I mention above, but it would certainly not be in high season.
I have given four stars because of the aircon issue, towel policy not being enforced and very crowded outside area.

Our first impressions were very good. The staff wore face masks all of the time and never missed an opportunity to remind us guests if ever we forgot to put ours on.
The rooms were very good and spacious and cleaned to a high standard daily. I'm not sure if all Madeirian hotels are the same but the Enotel Lido was very hot on recycling, which is obviously not a bad thing. Kettles aren't provided in the bedrooms but if you want one then all you have to do is ask at Reception and they'll gladly supply you with one, along with tea & coffee. Milk can be obtained in the bar.
Each room is provided with two plastic water bottles which can be refilled at numerous points around the hotel.
The hotels wi-fi was very good and could be accessed all over the hotel and its grounds. I would go far as to say that it's a lot better than our talktalk wifi at home.
There were more than enough sun loungers around the site to satisfy everyone, which meant no 6am maneuvers were needed.
The hotel made use of a hawk which flew around at various times scaring off other birds, but that didn't stop the cunning local pigeons that always made an appearance late afternoon every day scrounging for crumbs.
Lunch was the same every day but overall plenty of choice.
The evening meal was very hit and miss, especially the soup which was very unimaginative.
The local beer is Coral, which is not the best.
The entertainment was very forgettable.
Overall we had a great ten days. Thank you Enotel Lido.

There was very little entertainment,a pianist in the piano bar mainly, music sometimes playing outside round pool and on aqua aerobics session to loud music.
We used Holiday Taxis and were very happy, consequently recommend them!
