We booked the Savoy Palace to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. From the moment we pulled in to the valet, we could tell our stay was going to be special. The service, and attention to detail from our GEPA and team were exceptional. We were welcomed with local Madeira wine and sweet treats in honor of our anniversary. Our room exceeded all expectations. The view of the ocean from the balcony was breathtaking — a perfect way to begin and end each day. The restaurants on the premises are all world-class, and offered a wide range of specialties. We even indulged in the room service options several times. We also loved our spa treatments. We each booked 90 minute sessions for massage and aromatherapy. Before our treatments, we relaxed in the sauna and salt room. The location makes walking through Funchal a breeze and a great place to home base if you rent a car to explore the island. We created so many memories on our stay and are grateful for everyone on the Savoy Team who had a hand in that. We cannot recommend the Savoy Palace enough!

My wife and I stayed here for the week of our wedding and The Reserve and its staff were one of the highlights of our trip. If you aren’t sure whether the stay is worth the extra cost over Savoy Palace, it absolutely is. Before we arrived the staff emailed me asking for my preference from everything from pillows to food and wine. From the minute we pulled up the staff knew our names and knew we were getting married - probably a dozen people congratulated us before we even got to our room, and they did an amazing job adding a special touch of flowers, balloons, and wine to our room. Not only that, but every time we came back to the room after a day out, there was a new surprise waiting for us: champagne, cookies, wine, fruit, etc with a handwritten card. Everything we needed we could get through a WhatsApp chat with the staff: restaurant recommendations, reservations, room service, laundry, site seeing ideas and tips, and even things like sunscreen for the pool or help with the airline. The daily breakfast at Jacaranda was one of the best parts of the morning. The food was excellent and the view and service were top notch. The room itself was perfect, very spacious with a comfortable bed, large living room, and a huge balcony with lounge chairs overlooking the ocean. The spa was equally great - they got my wife in for a 90 minute massage and we were able to enjoy the other amenities in our downtime. The staff here really made this feel like home rather than a hotel. Everyone was so friendly and helpful, we felt so comfortable it was like we had been staying there for months. Shoutout especially to our GEPA Joao and the best host ever with the coolest top hat in the game, Joao Paul. I cannot thank them enough for making our experience so special. Also highly recommend booking through Amex! Their upgrades and perks allowed us to experience this hotel to the fullest.

We came to Madeira from Florida for our elopement and chose Savoy Palace since it was such a special occasion. We were blown away with all aspects of our experience.
The staff was so attentive and friendly, we were completely spoiled. We did the "premium experience" and our Guest Experience specialist (I believe that is what it is called) João H was exceptional. He was so friendly and accommodating. He even helped arrange a garment I needed for photos to be steamed with almost zero notice after our steamer broke.
The rooms were cleaned, organized and re-stocked so nicely everyday. We also really enjoyed the daily snacks and desserts that were left in the room, we were alway excited to see what they would be every day.
The property is decorated immaculately! Every detail is gorgeous and well thought out. We enjoyed the infinity pools on the top floor but also appreciated the pool on the ground floor. We spent hours in the wet spa and enjoyed the best massages we have ever had at the spa. All of the restaurants have great ambiance. We had delicious meals at Pau De Lume and Terreiro! The breakfast (a la carte and buffet) in the Jacaranda Lounge everyday was so nice! It is quiet and the view is unbeatable!
We stayed for 8 nights and felt like we never wanted to leave. We are so grateful for all of the staff for making it an unforgettable experience. If we ever return to Madeira we will without a doubt stay here again!!
(This review is about 6 months after our visit. We have stayed at multiple “5-star” properties since and were completely let down each time. We are planning our next trip back!)

My wife and I spent three days at The Reserve as part of our honeymoon, and we were blown away by the level of service that we received during our stay.
From the moment we arrived, we had a Personal Assistant to welcome us and show us around the hotel. We were able to contact her via WhatsApp, obtaining details about local events and places of interest as well as facilities at the hotel, such as the private pool and restaurant at the Jacarandá Club on the top floor, accessible only to guests of The Reserve.
When we needed anything at all (which included forgotten items left at the sister hotel Saccharum, a late-night adjustment to the air conditioning, and translation to liaise with another restaurant in Funchal), the staff were incredibly quick to support us and ensured that we were thoroughly satisfied.
The food and drink options were delightful, and we were particularly impressed by the evening turndown of our room that was accompanied by drinks and snacks. The facilities (including a Reserve-only reception and lift, and the pool on our balcony) were sublime, and the way we were treated at The Reserve made us feel like royalty.
We would be delighted to return one day!

The gentleman outside did not guide us well in putting our car on the reserve side, while those who welcomed us at checkin very well and gave very good advice. The products have changed in the bathroom and for washing our hands, it's a shame because we preferred Guerlain products which smelled good and lasted over time, those smell good but don't last over time. The Reserve is truly phenomenal. Our room was perfect—large space, great bed, modern touches, a comfortable bathroom, and a balcony with views of the Atlantic Ocean. We were able to watch the sunrise from bed each morning—our view was that good.
The staff at the Reserve is phenomenal. Upon arrival, we were given a personal GEPA who we were able to message on WhatsApp for help with restaurant recommendations, reservations, and trips to/from the airport. We rented a car, and the hotel's valet kept it safe.
If you're looking for a comfortable, modern stay in a great location on your trip to Madeira, the Reserve is the hotel to book. I could not recommend enough.

I don’t normally do reviews, but this place truly deserves my first one. First of all, the staff is kind, helpful, and something you can't find just anywhere: genuinely nice. We stayed at The Reserve, and let me tell you, they do reserve the best for their customers. Every evening I looked forward to my little treat—attention to detail is paramount here. One evening, my husband was reading a book but didn't have a bookmark; the next thing we knew, the staff had discreetly left a beautiful bookmark next to his book. I also noticed that they had placed a glass cleaning cloth next to my glasses. Such thoughtful touches made our stay not just comfortable, but truly special. It's rare to find a place that goes above and beyond in such a graceful manner, making you feel well-cared-for and valued. One of the most beautiful hotels I have ever been to: architecture, design, colors and movements. the hotel is beautiful, spotless. The rooms are all on the 16th floor of the Savoy Palace, with reserved access, car valet, reserved lift. on the floor there is the breakfast bar with both buffet and à la carte service, and then it works as a bar restaurant all day with service also by the pool. on the 17th floor there is an infinity pool and a whirlpool with sunbeds, etc., always reserved Reserve. Access to the SPA is included and the SPA has an internal swimming pool and whirlpool as well as a sauna, Turkish bath, etc. very nice. All other facilities of the Savoy palace hotel are accessible for The Reserve, swimming pool, bars, restaurants, live music in the evenings, etc. Excellent location. Very nice room with ocean view, separate bathrooms and shower, small balcony, breathtaking ocean view. every day they bring a thought. Top service. Excellent food. The only observation is that the temperature of the pools is a little chilly, for Nordic people it's perfect but when it's 20 degrees outside having the water a little warmer makes it easier to get in.

A short break staying in one of The Savoy Palace's lovely suites has become an annual event for us in recent years, and as our most recent booking was made before the rebrand we were excited to see how things could have gotten any better as The Reserve. The changes included a new dedicated entrance/lounge and lift, midweek nighttime access to The Jacaranda bar on the 16th floor and a new colour scheme and furniture in the suite, all of which were very positive. The not so positive changes were that the daily in room treats we had previously enjoyed midafternoon were not delivered until much later in the day, in one instance a tray of tea and biscuits with a card describing the tradition of afternoon tea was delivered after we had gone for dinner at 19.00, so was cold by the time we returned. Also, whilst during check-in we were introduced to a member of The Reserve team who would be our personal attendant during our stay we never saw him again. Towards the end of our stay we were asked what time we would be checking out, so based on our previous visits, when our last day came we waited for our in-room check out, but this did not arrive so I made my way to The Reserve reception whilst my wife continued to wait in the room for the cases to be collected. Thankfully other aspects and benefits of staying in a suite were just as good as we remembered them, including the excellent breakfast in The Jacaranda, where staff provide first rate service, and the use of the lovely spa and well equipped gym. Despite the few niggles mentioned above we still had a very good visit, so it is highly likely our annual tradition of staying at The Savoy Palace/The Reserve will continue.

Our stay at the Savoy Reserve on Madeira was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. Each day, we were surprised with delightful gifts from the hotel staff, whether it was vitamin shots, hand-made chocolate pralines, or herbal infusions. These small, thoughtful gestures added a touch of magic to our stay, making us feel truly special.
The service at Savoy Reserve is nothing short of extraordinary. I’ve never encountered such a remarkable laundry service—dropping off our laundry just before noon and having it returned clean, pressed, and neatly delivered within a few hours was an absolute treat.
The staff at Savoy Reserve were consistently kind and incredibly helpful, solving every request or issue with ease and a smile. I must say, we usually don’t return to the same places, but this hotel has changed our minds. I only wish there were more Savoy Reserve boutique hotels, as I’d choose them over any other without hesitation. The service here deserves six stars, not five. I would gladly return, and I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for an exceptional experience.
