We stayed here for 4 nights in August, 2019. My husband did the SCUBA and it was right on the property. Great ocean view room. Restaurant was yummy, especially the breakfast. Cute happy hour. A small convenience store across the street. I explored on foot in all directions. It’s about a mile into town, FYI. Highly recommend.…
My husband and I stayed in a sea view room through a package we booked - the hotel was perfect for us. Easy to locate, within walking distance to the downtown area plus different bars/restaurants and a cute lil mini mart across the street (FYI if you buy a bottle of wine here the bar at the hotel will not only open it but provide you with wine glasses, a stopper and ice bucket). We didn’t have any issues with noise or guests and our room was on the same floor as the bar. We didn’t spend a ton of time at the hotel due to hiking all day but we did utilize the pool (and the diving area next to the pool) one afternoon which was nice and you’re able to work out at the gym in the diving center for free. Showers had great water pressure and the room plus balcony was perfect for the two of us. Hotel staff were great. They arranged for a rental car to be dropped off at the hotel for us and made reservations as needed - even offered to have a lunch box packed for us when we were leaving for the airport to head to another island early in the morning. Parking is free at the hotel which was great for us too Breakfasts were included - good selection every morning. We did have dinner here the night we arrived (Sunday and nothing around was open) - for 19 euro each we had unlimited drinks and buffet. Food was good and we drank at least two bottles of wine - definitely worth it but I would recommend venturing out too! Cheaper (but not unlimited booze lol) and better meals can be found…
Hotel is a bit away from the centre of town, but it is walkable. Or you can take the cheap, local bus, just in front of the hotel. A small supermarkt is at 2 minutes walking. The view from the hotelgrounds to the see, the Monte Brasil and the Sao Felipe Fort is nice. It is a short walk from the hotel to the Monte Brasil and the fort. Breakfastbuffet is standard. Room is standard too, not exceptional, but quiet. Our balcony was very dirty and had no seats on it. They have a pigeon problem, in the whole city. So excretions of the pigeons are everywhere. We asked the reception if it was possible to clean our balcony and to have seats for it. And this was arranged very quickly. The swimmingpool with loungers is a good place to relax with a lovely view, but again, excretions of birds are on the seats and everywhere. The reception staff is lovely and is doing everything to help you, with a big smile!.…
I book this hotel from one of the discount package tour website. Convenient location. The hotel provides underground parking guest who need it. Breakfast buffet was ok. Dinner buffet started from 7pm, and food was ok. I would not recommend dinner here. Service was lower thank average, food selection was just okay. I personally think that the building build so poorly so I can hear the room above foot steps, toilet flush, door open and close from the same floor. …
The location for the Hotel do Caracol is lovely. It overlooks the Atlantic Ocean. You could spend a long time enjoying the view. Climb the snail shell area adjacent to the hotel for a very pretty view. The double room was fine and a comfortable size, as were the balcony and the bathroom. One thing in particular was problematic. It was hot and humid in the hotel and in the room. The temperature outside was in the 60s, so I'm not sure exactly why the temperature inside was uncomfortable. We called the front desk and they sent someone in to look at the thermostat, but it didn't help. I think part of the problem is that you are given only one room key, and it has to be in the slot on the wall in order to get lights or AC. When you leave the room and take the key with you, everything is off. It never really cooled down again and the air was heavy with the humidity. Another really small thing, but we found it odd, was that the tissue box in the bathroom was restocked each day with only 4 or 5 tissues. As my husband and I both had colds, we found that this did not meet our needs. I expect we could have gotten more if we had asked, but we didn't. We picked up some tissues at a local market instead. Regarding the breakfast, it was decent and there were a number of choices, but it was absolutely the same every day. I was pleased to discover that they had bacon, which I like and don't often have, but it was so under cooked, it didn't seem like a good idea to consume it. The breads and cheeses were very good. It's a bit of a walk to the center of town, but it was doable, even for me (a woman in her sixties who was recuperating from an illness). There's a bus stop close to the hotel and it only costs .30 Euro to ride into town, though the bus schedule is a bit irregular and is not available at all evenings and a good part of the weekend. There is a very small, dark indoor pool, but I enjoyed using it. The outdoor pool is small and lovely, but chilly. I only saw folks in full diving gear get in. There is a very nice area nearby to lounge overlooking the sea, if the weather is cooperative. The hotel is perhaps a 10-minute walk to a nice restaurant option called QBs, which has a wide variety of reasonably priced and tasty options. This restaurant is further out of of the town center, so I don't know if we would have found it if our hotel were closer to the center of Angra. We returned there for several meals, as we didn't care all that much for the dinner buffet at the hotel. We did not have our own car, but it certainly looked like parking options were very limited. If you are planning to have a car rental, you may want to ask further about parking options. Overall, it's perfectly acceptable and a great view, but they do need to address the temperature issue and cook the bacon!…
