The minute we arrived to Monte Alto, we understood that during our stay we would have our energy restored, with peace and quite being part of the daily routine. Travelling with a young child, with less than 1 year, it was precisely that me and wife were urging for. The staff is unique, taking always very good care of us, and preparing fantastic breakfasts and dinners, in case you decide to stay the night without leaving the premises. The pool and all the surroundings are also though to guarantee at 100% that you won't be thinking of nothing else during your stay. Definitely recommend it!…
We spent two nights in Monte Alto and wished we had stayed longer - if only to enjoy Lara's cooking and the breakfast jams one more day. The house elegantly merges tradition and modern architecture, and is very welcoming. Our room was spacious and remained cool despite July's warm temperatures (even without using the air conditioning). The swimming pool and the area around it are perfect to cool down and relax after a summer day. Both evenings, we had dinner on site. What a good idea! The chef, Lara, prepared excellent local cuisine: from starter to dessert, everything was perfect! The wine selection was also very good. The breakfast buffet, with homemade cake and jams, local yogurts and fruits, is also very good.…
Excellent in every aspect - comfortable, relaxing, stylish & very welcoming. A converted farm with few rooms offering a good breakfast. It is possible to order lunch and dinner too. Huge pool with an amazing view. High attention to detail and very comfortable accommodation. Lara ensured that our stay was perfect - thank you. Highly recommended!…
Gorgeous guest house about 2 miles outside of Campo Maior and very close to the Adega Maior winery. It is a working farm with sheep and goats, plus a spacious modern guest house in the middle. There's a pool with an incredible view of the farm, the Spanish border to the east, and a gorgeous sunset to the west. There's no light pollution so the star gazing was excellent! We had a wonderful, peaceful stay. The hosts also put out a delicious spread in the morning with fresh fruit and sheep's milk cheese, bread, honey, jams, and chorizo. . . And they offered great suggestions for things to see on our way out of town. One tip: Campo Maior is a small rural town and the only restaurants don't open for dinner until 8:30 pm (late for us Americans!), so be prepared for that.…
