1st off I was late knocking off from work and check in is up to 20h00. I called ahead to inform them that o may be delayed with a few minutes, the warmth in the voice of the person I spoke assured me that my vacation was going to be fantastic. Immediately when I got there we received a very warm welcome. But this was not the highlight.

I must say due to past experiences with other Guesthouse’s I opted for my stay to be without breakfast, but on 2nd thought we opted for breakfast just for one day. In the morning at breakfast, from when we set foot on their dining hall, we were treated like royalty. Our table was set beautifully, and the highlight was when they brought bright white heated hand towels to wipe our hands before eating. Their starter was exquisite and mouthwatering. The breakfast was out of this world to a point that I went to reception immediately to pay breakfast for the next day as I was staying 2 nights. Again the warmth of the hosts was shining through.

Their rooms are spacious and beautiful with beds that could sleep 4 people comfortably. When you walk in them it’s like you walk into heaven.

Another feature that you have to check is their heated pool, we were in there well into the evening and the more we stayed in there the more the water became warmer.

I have now found a home away from home whenever I’m around Hartebeespoort. Thank you Kassaboera Lodge and the warm hosts. You are not rated 4 star for nothing. Thank you 🙏🏽.

Our family had a scheduled trip to Hartbeespoort Dam, and found this amazing gem of a lodge!

Owners, Manie & Amanda made us feel right at home. This lodge is located in a quiet peaceful suburb with views of the Dam.
Beautiful neat rooms, we visited Kassaboera Lodge 5 - 7 July (winter) and with the surprise of under floor heating in the room we quickly forgot how cold is it outside and slept like Royalty - warm and cosy, Delicious daily breakfast.

I highly recommend staying at Kassaboera Lodge.
Thank You Manie & Amanda for your heart warming hospitality.

Many thanks for the kind feedback. We will gladly supply a mop on request but prefer not to leave mops in the room as it can be smelly if still wet. Hope you understand. Thank you for your support and may you have a blessed year. Kind Regards Manie

was disappointed with room location. This was our anniversary which I did state when booking. I requested a nice room, only to find our room was the one that opened onto the car park, right in the passage and stairwell route for other patrons going to there rooms. Not a very romantic setting for an anniversary setting.
On arrival we checked in and having travelled we wanted to cool our water that we had in the car with us. Opened the bar room fridge to find it not only off but no ice in the tray either. I proceeded to the bar and requested for some ice, however i was told as i was not buying drinks from the bar i had to buy a bag for R20. Rather taken back as no ice in my room fridge nor a cold fridge to cool it down i was far from impressed. However to avoid an unpleasant as it was our anniversary, I agreed and returned to our room.
Plugs in the room need adaptors. To put the fridge on you need to unplug the kettle and vice versa, the same with hair dryer and the bedside lamp.
Two of the towels in our room were frayed, not something I expected to see either.
Load shedding came into play aswell however no candles or emergency lighting where provide. This is something that is essential especially with loading the way it is. Thankfully we always carry one with us.
On a positive note the ice was given without charge when we checked out. The room was clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated. Location is good.

Dear Masenya Many thanks for your feedback and I am sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay with us like most guests do. Unfortunately this room do face the stairway area ,but there was no other room available. All our rooms have a small bar fridge just to keep drinks cold. We do have a licensed Bar and if guests make use of it , ice is for free. We did send you a list of anniversary options on Booking.com but we did not receive a reply so we thought that it is too expensive and that you are not interested any more. All the rooms are suppose to have an adapter in , and I do apologize if that was not the case. If the towels were frayed, I do apologize...it is not suppose to happen and we will be more cautious. Kind Regards Manie& Amanda

When we got there the place seemed nice and the people considerate. They where able to assist us with collecting the keys early the morning which we thought was very nice. We attended a wedding and was parked in and could not be able to leave to go to the lodge. We did send a message to the owners and inform them of the situation and the next morning when we where able to get to the lodge and then we just spoke to the manager about the situation. We did not want the cash we paid back but we would have loved to use the room or find out if they could assist us with the unfortunate situation. Even just to show a little compassion. But we just starter to talk to the manager to explain the whole situation etc but immediately he said in a sarcastic way that it is not his problem. I mean you work in the hospitality business. We did not want to ask for our cash back. We just wanted to find out maybe is there a way they could have compensated us or not. Even if they could not then just at least showed a bit of compassion.

We feel it is very unfair of you to blame us if your car was parked at a wedding venue and you could not get out. You only informed us at 24h00 midnight, that you were not going to use the room, and were you are still in possession of the room key, and we would not be able to re-let your room anyway. No other Accommodation institution would accept your apology and bear the loss of income. You did not even see the honeymoon room because you came to pick up the key early in the morning, and never came back because your car was apparently parked after the wedding. Because you could not get your way, you rate us very low, and unfortunately we can do nothing about it, and it is unacceptable to us. Manie&Amanda Owners

The room was made up to our expectations though, and the lodge was clean and well taken care of.
Although the lodge is well taken care of, there are a few things that need to be addressed.
The bar closes at 7 pm, and there is nothing available in the bar fridge. If you don't get something before the bar closes you will have a problem with getting something to drink. They do provide 1 bottle of water per person and one coffee/tea per person.
The check-in attendant is also the barman, which is a problem because if there is a check-in you need to wait at the bar +- 15 mins.

I must say we did enjoy ourselves and felt very welcomed, the hosts were very nice, but i hate to have to mention a few things. When booking we could select times to check in so we clicked 2pm, upon arrival our room was still not clean, and we had to wait before we could check in. They do have a bar downstairs to which the owner served us, they have the basics there to drink. Our room, which was the honeymoon suit was dirty. there were layers of dust above the bath, and in the cupboard we found and empty jelly tots bag. My tap in my basin as they have a his and hers, barely worked it was just spritzing water out. The outside door handle to our balcony fell off, and sadly the view looks over
looks into the Neighbours yard who's dogs park periodically. The parking is definitely too small for a big bakkie. Other than that, it is a very pretty guesthouse, not going as far as to call it a lodge.

Many thanks for your review. We take all our Reviews serious and will always strive to do better. We did apologize to you for the fact that your room was not ready at 14h00 . It was peak season and we had 12 Rooms to clean/service. The Cleaners rushed when cleaning your room, to ensure that you don't have to wait too long and it is possible that they have slipped up to clean the room properly. It is a pity that you have not mentioned it after arrival, then we would have rectify the problem immediately. The handle of the door has been fixed after our Cleaners reported it. The view from the Balcony is mainly on our Swimming Pool and partly on the Neighbours Driveway Unfortunately we cannot do anything about the Neighbours Dogs as he claims that the dogs is there for their protection. I have to admit that our parking area is very limited but there is 1 parking space for each Room. Kind Regards Manie & Amanda

I just want to thank everyone at Kassaboera Lodge for the pleasant experience we've had staying there. Manie and his wife went out of their way to accommodate my ever-changing requirements.
The rooms were very well furnished and comfortable to stay in. It is a relaxed atmosphere with a beautiful pool, bar, dining/breakfast area. I will definitely stay here again. It was worth every cent. The location is also absolutely spot on, close to Fisherman's Deck, Dozi's Back to The Roots, Blackie Swart's Lulu's, De Vette Mossel, The snake park etc.
