Hi, Firstly let me clarify I was the person in the review re the ants and no WIFI. Firstly my daughter does live in SA and I was visiting her. She wrote the original review. I at no time was abusive to your staff. I only met 1 and that was Joseph. The food was crawling with ants and yes we are aware that this is common in hot countries the only thing that surprises me is that you have not learned of a way to protect the food from them maybe by covering it would be a help. It contrary to your comments is not a budget property although might I say it has all the trappings of one but 2000 rand a night isn't exactly cheap. As for entertaining my grandchildren, if you where to put as much effort into ensuring your property was Clean and hygienic as you did in pointing out our parenting skills maybe it would serve you better and help you to do your job which is to provide a welcome and clean environment and not ant infested dirty accommodation. We did not receive any monies back and we didn't stay for the 2nd night at a loss of 2000 rand that is how bad we felt the property was. Yes as you stated I am from a different country and expect the standard levels of hygiene to be met, which they where on our next night in Amanzingwe Lodge at a cost of 1400 Rand per night for a family lodge. A no brainer. Wish you every success in sorting out your Hygiene problems and various other issues i.e no WIFI and smelly bathrooms and above all Josephs lack of customer care the staff are not always right you know the customer sometimes is though safe to say will definitely not be back

I live in Johannesburg and took a weekend away to change scenery and give myself a rest. Hartebeespoort is close-by enough to be convenient yet out-of-town enough to give a holiday feeling.

Pumleni Guesthouse is beautifully decorated and notably well managed. I have stayed at sister guesthouse Khayamanzi before and this was my first time there. The breakfast was superb and the place has the feeling that staff and owner love their business and live their work. Full of little touches giving a positive energy. The room was considerately furnished and resourced.

I have been recommending Pumleni to friends since I got home for a getaway for couples and solo travellers and even groups of friends. I am feeling refreshed since my weekend there. Lovely stay.

Impressed with the security of the apartment. Very accomodative with late arrivals. We were treated well and welcome with warm hands. I will like to visit the place again and stay at the same guesthouse.

We only stayed one night but the room was clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and efficient. The B n B is very centrally located. Enclosed secure parking. Lovely breakfast. Quite a few attractions close to the B n B.

The room was fine but please install large mirrors in the rooms.
The bedding was good and the tv was nice and clear.
The sign at the gate is not clear enough if you come from Pretoria , it is blocked by the trees and other signs.

A warm welcome when we arrived. Assistance with bags and getting into room. Room was neat and tidy. Breakfast was excellent. Parking was a bit of a problem. Disability access to Jacuzzi, Room and Shower was a problem. Other than that a pleasure to stay there!

This guest house is not built for hospitality but for maximum occupation. The property is over developed and there is no privacy or sound barrier between the rooms. Our room looked out onto a wall and we were 1m away from 3 other rooms. The walls are paper thin and the ceilings don't seem to disguise any sound either. We were woken up at 7am by the sounds of both the room next door and the rooms above us. To add to the noise the neighbours dog, right next to our bedroom window since there is no free space on the property, started barking at all the commotion. To add insult to injury the establishment started drilling or some sort of construction noise by 9am. There was no where to park and we had to park another car in overnight. Needless to say we just wanted to get out of there as soon as possible and packed up leaving without even eating breakfast. The person at the front desk didn't even ask if we'd had a good night or why we were skipping breakfast. When we first arrived there were guests playing music from their cars and smoking hubly/drinking outside there rooms. This first impression was poor to say the least and turned out to be a sign of things to come. Sadly this detracted from an otherwise clean, well serviced and attractively decorated room.

I will honest ...bluntly honest in my views...
We stayed at Pumleni during weekend of 11th July. We were 3 families, comprising kids ranging from year 1 to year 12. 1st thing missing during our stay was flexibility from Hotel Manager (Henry) as we strangely found it tough to sit around and do our Brai thingy... more so, there were so many restrictions around and list of "CANT DO"activities... Nn breakfast, it was average..though Vegetarian appreciated the effort made by Henry and Chefs...they LOVED Hash brown cooked on order. Overall I would recommend to a single family as this place is definitely for bigger group as you can't move, sit, sing, brai and enjoy around with in premise.

Response from William C, Owner at Pumleni Guesthouse

Thank you for taking the time to review Pumleni Guesthouse. Your feedback is valuable to us. With large groups, it can sometimes be difficult to accommodate specific requirements without disturbing other guests such as gathering outside other guests' rooms and singing and having a braai/bbq. In fairness, it is a guesthouse, not a holiday resort. I know that Henry and his team did try to accommodate all your needs. Thank you once again for your feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed the hash browns - Lydia is an excellent cook.

I had a great weekend in Hartbeespoort. Pumleni Guesthouse is great. Workers are awesome, we were welcomed well and the guesthouse has good facilities and rooms are good. I would also like to thank AfriTravel International our booking agent for a great package and for going the extra mile for us even if it was a short notice booking. Thank you and continue the great work that you do.
