Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.

I really loved my stay here. The location was fabulous, staff were friendly, hotel was clean, breakfast was wholesome. Only negatives, were massive staircase and being on the top floor was a bit of a trek, although I imagine a lot of places in amsterdam are like this given the architecture. The top floor bathroom facilities were quite small, if you could get the first floor that would be perfect. If you’re elderly, have problems with stairs or are carrying an extreme amount of heavy luggage, I would probably think twice. But otherwise, an excellent place to stay.

I stayed four nights to attend a conference at the Rijksmuseum. Perfect location, only 2 mins walk! What I liked best was the family feel, very kind and helpful staff and the views! The room and bathrooms were very clean and comfortable. The bedroom was warm, unlike other places I've stayed in Amsterdam! I love the decor too with lots of antiques. The hotel is between the Rijksmuseum and the antiques district so this is a nice touch.

This hotel, with its small and minimal room, made me feel like a college student again (I really enjoyed it, but it was an expensive experience, hence the title of this review). The accommodation style reminded me more of a rooming-house/boarding-house, with most guests sharing tiny common shower and toilet facilities. It is well located but very expensive for what you get - I have stayed at similarly priced hotels in the same area that have better private facilities. The 3rd floor “WC” is literally closet-sized; “larger” guests simply will not fit! Staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast was great. Bed was very comfortable. I loved hearing the church bells. Stairs are steep, no doubt about that.

Amsterdam is expensive, but hotel museumzicht offers a good value for solo traveler. Simple room with window allow me to have privacy, sharing bathroom with others. Prices with breakfast is absolutely good choice when you stay in Amsterdam. Do not miss out the opportunity to chat with the manager to know a little more about Holland.

The stairs weren’t a problem, although I did ask for help with my suitcase. Staff are super efficient and responsive to your requests. The shared bathrooms are sparkling clean and the bedrooms, although small, are comfortable. Most hotels charge extra for breakfast, but not here, the staff serves an ample meal to fuel your day.The neighborhood is nice and around the corner you’ll find the fanciest shops. With the money you save at the hotel you might decide to splurge at Prada.
