The Ibis Amsterdam Centre Stopera is lauded for its stellar location, a stone's throw from the heart of the city and numerous attractions, which guests love for its convenience. While the rooms are praised for their cleanliness, they are often described as snug, with limited space for belongings. The hospitality received at the Ibis is frequently commended, with staff members earning recognition for their warmth and efficiency. Although the hotel provides a satisfying breakfast and maintains commendable cleanliness throughout, some guests feel that the room amenities are basic and the overall experience may not always match the cost.

The hotel was 15 minute walk from the central train station., 5 minutes from the train and tram. The staff were welcoming and very helpful(especially the 2 gentlemen in the evening). Many stores and restaurants within walking distance and also a supermarket down the block. Very happy with the hotel and location.

I came her with a friend for 3 nights over NYE. The hotel is lovely, clean and modern. Reception staff are very friendly and accommodating - charged my phone while I went to a museum and printed off my boarding pass. Also searched up bus routes on the web for me.

We arrived early and were able to check into our room at 11am. We also didn’t check out until 11am and stored our luggage in the locked room. However, they charged us €6 more tax when we arrived saying it had gone up over the new year. They should have known this at the time of booking in Sept.

The rooms are cosy, warm and modern with comfy beds, TV, safe and a good sized shower. However there was no tea making facilities or fridge which I’ve had in basic hotels in the past. Also there are no drawers to store things, just a couple of shelves and little rail for 2 people. Also bring your own hairdryer as theirs is useless.

The hotel and rooms were clean but they hadn’t cleaned our room after 2 nights. The 1st day we were still in our room (11am) so asked the cleaner if she could come back in half hour but they had a short shift that day so couldn’t. She did give us fresh towels tho.
The next day the cleaners made the beds but did not change the bedding which had obvious makeup/tan marks on. We couldn’t believe they had made 2 dirty beds and also not given us clean towels. We complained at reception and they changed our bedding & towels immediately and gave us one little bottle of wine. The porter guy was lovely tho.

The hotel is in a quiet location, close to many attractions - 15 min walk from central station or red light district. There are a few museums, night clubs and ice bar close. The big supermarket down the road on the right was great value for money - esp when everything is so overpriced in ’Dam. Altho the food labels are in Dutch so you have to work out what you are buying!

Would definitely stay here again if I came back to Amsterdam. Great value for money, modern and great location 🇳🇱

Dear Gaynl, Thank you for your comments about your last stay with us. I'm happy to read that you've had a good time in Amsterdam and at our hotel. I have to tell you that due governmental changes the tax to stay in a hotel in Amsterdam is changed from Januari 2020 for this reason we did not know when you've made your booking at our hotel. We only do have coffee and tea making facilities in our Premium Rooms, for the next time please inform the reception about availability. I will talk with the cleaner as we do have every day housekeeping service from 9 o'clock until at least 17:00 in the afternoon. Happy to read that my colleagues from the reception where able to help you :) Once again, thank you for your nice comments and we hope to welcome you back in the near future. Warm Regards, Sharon

We stayed for three nights in this hotel, perfectly located near all the attractions Amsterdam has to offer! It was just a short walk to each of the attractions we attended and public transport was simple to navigate too! The hotel room itself was neat and tidy, not vast but big enough for two, we found the bathroom 'pod' quite space-age-eske but fit for purpose...although no lock on the toilet door. The bed was large and the pillows too plump...infact one of is ended up using jumpers for pillows as the hotel staff didnt have any flatter ones. We didn't utilise the breakfast option as it was quite pricey when we wanted to try other local cafes for breakfast. One extra perk was the later the usual check out of 12! This meant we still have time for a lay in and no need to rush in the final morning. Handy storage in the reception for our cases while we explored the city once more after checking out.

The hotel is basically connected to the central station which is great especially if come or leave early/late!! The view from the rooms is amazing and just walk 3 mins from the hotel you can take either the hop on hop off bus OR boat. The Anne Frank house is about 15 mins walk from the hotel. The breakfast is great, one can easily take a croissant and banana for a lunch too, and I ate dinner here both my evenings I stayed there and the food was great!!! And the (((cute))) bartenders can make great cocktails too.

HOWEVER, the room is really small. I'm glad I stayed by myself and just for two days because two people and one normal sized suitcase would be too much for that room. Otherwise nice bed, good bathroom and there is room to hang up outerwear (great plus for me). I would stay here again, but then most probably by myself or a very close friend.

As the title say's "not for us". The hotels does have some good points. Staff are very polite and attentive. Check in and out smooth, also help with directions and knowledge of Amsterdam perfect. Bar is a nice space, chilled and relaxed, apart from last day due to corona virus we weren't allowed in. No fault of hotel. We got a taxi from central station to hotel, but no need, we walked back in 15 mins along water.

Now for us the down side. Room was tiny!! Couldn't even pass each other at the foot of the bed. Bathroom is a pod, actually not a bad size. One plastic chair to sit on. I'm not one for lying in a bed when returning to room. Booked a canal view, but we were on the 6th floor and could only see canal if I leant over table on top toes. (Paid extra for this) room was clean though and towels replenished daily, bed was a metal frame and creaked every time you rolled over.

Location was disappointing! A good 15/20 mins walk to main attractions. The walk is pleasant but I've stayed 3 minute walk from centre before which made this a big down side. The street which the hotel is on is so long and hotel virtually at the end.

In a nutshell I personally would not return as I could get better for the money, but most seem to love the hotel. Definitely person preference on my behalf but not necessarily a bad hotel.

Really nice hotel in a great location. Super simple walk from the train station which took about 15 minutes and you were right into town
Rooms were compact but you don’t come to Amsterdam to sit in the room! Can’t complain about room size when the Hotel is barely more expensive than a shared room in a hostel.
They had everything you needed - only advantage would have been a mini fridge but that’s picky.

Checked in on 9/1/20 by the reception manager (?man in a suit, can’t remember his name sorry) he took the time to chat and properly explain everything that we were signing and then pulled out a map to show us all around the city, very friendly and funny.

Staff were always on hand in reception if we had any questions and were always friendly to greet us coming in or wish us a good day leaving.

We didn’t use the bar area but it looks nice. We aren’t big eaters in the early morning so popped to the spar just down the road for pain au chocolates from the bakery section instead.

I had requested a nice view for my boyfriends 25th and he delivered! Gorgeous view over the canal from the back of the building. Photo attached.

Some very unrealistic reviews on here, that or they stayed in a different hotel to me! Couldn’t fault the place as a base to sleep and we slept well with nice heating and a clean room!

Me and my friend spent the weekend in Amsterdam from the 17 to 19 of January and we were absolutely amazed with the hotel!! The location was incredible, close to the city centre.
The staff was what surprised me the most, from the first minute everyone was extra welcoming, always smiling and being nice. I felt like they knew me from a long time.
The room was amazing with everything we needed and a river view.
The breakfast was delicious, specially the Dutch pancakes and the selection of cheese.
The hotel was honestly one of the sparkles of our trip, we want to come back already.
We can't recommend enough! Was all worth it 🇳🇱👌

We visited Amsterdam for 3 nights and stayed at this hotel. We put on the booking before arriving that my husband uses a mobility scooter so we would need a room to fit this to charge.
We arrived early expecting to be able to drop the case in the luggage hold however we werr able to check in early. The face on the counter was friendly and very welcoming and understanding with the scooter. We were given the choice between an accessible room with 2 seperate beds or we could have a family room so there was extra space for the scooter. We opted for a family room so the 2 rooms we had booked could be together and me and my husband could share a bed. I would like to give Leon a special shout out as he couldn't do enough to help.
The beds were super comfy the rooms were spacious. The bathroom was small but big enough for what we needed The shower was large.
The hotel was quiet wich meant we had a good night sleep we did find the rooms quite warm.
I had read reviews and worried about the cleanliness of the hotel however in our room this was fine.
The location of the hotel was fab the bar was good however it would have been more convenient if the were accepting cash.
We were right near a supermarket and near a tram stop so commuting was easy.

This is my 2nd time staying in this hotel- we were able to check in an hour early and the lady was lovely! She gave us a bar of chocolate and cute little clogs! We decided to go to the bar for a drink and we were welcomed by sandra and leon with a postcard! These guys were always smiling and made us feel very welcomed :) all other staff members were always saying hello and smiling anytime we walked past too. Our room had a lovely view of the canal, room topped up every day with fresh towels, water, tea & coffee by Wang. Breakfast was delish and I like the fact every day there was always something new to offer- full of suprises this little gem.
See yas again soon :)

The hotel was closed to the train station. Staff were friendly and helpful. Our rooms were on the top floor. The room was modern with bed side sockets on both side. The mattress and duvet were good and we had good sleep for 4 nights. The room was small and the water pressure in the bathroom was weak. There was no socket in the toilet and the toiletry were average. Our friends stayed in a room on the 4th floor and their room door was out of order. One day they found the door was not locked when they came back in the evening. Repeated requests to refill the soap in the toilet and to borrow a kettle were ignored.
The breakfast was good value for money.
