Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.

Definitely highly recommended accommodation, ideally located at walking distance from all main touristic destinations. Friendly, efficient staff. Surprisingly, all-inclusive policy means you can gladly enjoy your mini-bar. Also, nice bar and fireplace in the lobby.

This small but wonderful hotel is located in a great spot in Amsterdam, with a tram right outside, the Tulip market just down the street and bars and restaurants within a very short walk. The room, which was a good size for any city hotel room, was clean and well stocked.

If you're going from Amsterdam to Dusseldorf airport, you might want to leave the night before and stay in an airport hotel. It's a 2+ hour train ride, so depending what time your flight leaves that might be a lot of activity early in the morning.

We stayed at this hotel for one week last September and found a lovely breakfast is available downstairs from 7:00AM to 10:30AM (or 11:00AM on a Sunday)....we usually found that after eating a great breakfast we didn't need to stop for lunch, A' happy hou'r in the early evening provided cheeses, meat varieties, bread or crackers. We used to go to Albert Heijn (mentioned in a review above) which is a very short walk from the hotel to pick up a salad, sandwich, and beverage should we wish to have a light and quick supper.

Has anyone got the hotel to book them transport from the airport?
Yes, I did and the car did not show up - after numerous calls to the hotel another car was sent by the company that the hotel uses and got there 1 1/2 hours after we had received our luggage. There are plenty of taxis right outside of the arrivals hall and that is what I will do next time. Not a happy start to arriving in Amsterdam but after that everything was great and Banks Mansion will be the only place I stay on future trips to Amsterdam.
