We recently stayed at the Dieu -Donnee and what a wonderful experience. The hosts Wim and Antoinette were extremely accommodating for our needs. Rooms were clean and spacious. The same for the bathroom and towels. Super clean and nice. We had a large veranda where we could sit and enjoy the breeze. The B&B has a large swimming pool and beautiful gardens. We had a good nights rest and its very peaceful and quiet and slept with the doors open as we felt quite safe with the night watchman on duty. Its a short ride to all the main spots and we recommended to anybody. It was a pleasant and wonderful stay!

It was wonderful to visit Dieu Donnee River Lodge. The location is just excellent near Port Shepstone and Margate. The owners are very helpful and friendly. They made Dieu Donnee River Lodge a great place to spent one night or one week. Breakfast are excellent and it's a must to start the day. I'm defiantly going back very soon in 2016 with my next scheduled leave.

We stayed here in August as a last
minute stop. The staff were really accommodating, lovely breakfast. Rooms were lovely and clean. Unfortunately my son was poorly during the night and was sick everywhere in the room, the family who own the lodge couldn't have been any better, they were so kind to us even though I was extremely embarrassed! I can't them enough for that. They were very informative about what to do in the area, which helped us massively. I recommend this lodge to anyone looking for accommodation in the area.

Wow....what an unpleasant experience. We arrive at the establishment after a very long and taxing journey. Ring bell twice to be "unwelcomed" by what we can only assume to be the check-in clerk. My husband explains that we have a booking at which point she makes an about turn and heads into the house. We follow, as we haven't been advised otherwise. She grunts something about a form which she pushes in our direction and we conform.
She grunts something about a key and we follow.
We head up an awkward set of stairs to find a musty smelling room. She grunts something about an exit and we decide that it's best we follow her to the exit as we will be needing it.

At no point did we receive more than a hello from some random person who we can only imagine to be the hostess.

Quickly need to use the bathroom before we head out....to find that the toilet seat still contained the reminents of the previous visitor. SO GROSSED OUT!

This is not going well.

Get back to our room at night and it's hot, musty and quite frankly unpleasant. The ceiling fan is my only hope for some respite from the smell and heat but it squeals relentlessly so I give up on that. Can't leave the door open so opt to keep the window open.

Towels appear warn and musty. Brown towels are never a safe option for a guest establishment. Brown, musty smelling limp towels are just a dead giveaway that you should be leaving.

End up sleeping on the floor as the bed smells so musty one can barely inhale. Spend the last bit of the night sleeping on the porch as it's the only place where the smell doesn't overpower your every breath.

Morning coffee....mission abort! Cup smells like dirty dish cloth.

Leave without breakfast.

Very poor show.....

Thanks for the review. Sorry we were not home to welcome you! The lady from the previous disadvantage group who welcomed you are replaced and the light fitting on the fan tightened. Humidity on the coast line can sometimes surprise inland guests, and our lady did not tell, that you could have slept with your doors and windows open and enjoyed the cool summer night as we have a security guard patrolling all night. We changed all the curtains and bedding to an earthy color with the matching pebble color towels from Glodina during October 2015. Sorry you missed out on a full English breakfast. It was nice meeting you on the morning of departure as we could recall Ruimsig from our childhood years staying in your home town, Roodepoort.

My stay at Dieu-Donnee stretched over a 2 week period and it was a most wonderful, comfortable stay. The room was a spacious, open-plan self catering room, well appointed with a full bathroom, much to my delight. Wim and Antoinette were so friendly and accommodating. They also have a back-up generator which was a huge bonus! I never knew when there was load shedding. I will most definitely return to stay again. And I most definitely recommend Dieu-Donnee as the place to stay on the Kzn South Coast. Thank you Wim and Antoinette for making me feel so welcome.
