The Blackrock Casino Hotel is surrounded by the historic Kwa-ZuluNatal battlefields, and is perfectly situated halfway between Johannesburg and Durban. This hotel is an ideal stopover location for a night of good rest, pampering, entertainment and gaming. Offering a wellness centre for rejuvenating spa and massage treatments, this hotel also boasts an action-packed Tsogo Sun Casino, and excellent dining venues - Mid City Grill's buffet is well-known and the drinks and snacks are extremely popular at the Diamond Lounge. Spend your day exploring the area, soak up the sun by the pool, work up a sweat in the gym, stay productive in the business centre, or host memorable events in one of the hotel's four adaptable conference rooms.

Beautiful hotel and casino to relax and unwind in Newcastle. It was very hot and it was unfortunate that the pool was under maintenace during this period and was out of order.
The buffet breakfast is always great and has a wide verity of foods on offer.

We planned a reunion of a group of friends who matriculated at Dundee high in 1977. Blackrock tsogosun was an excellent venue giving us the full range of services needed to cater for ppl all over South Africa and internationally for this event from accomodation for the weekend, to our breakfasts and our gala night of events at the Imbizo conference venue. The head of banqueting Andre and his team were over the top fantastic people. Going beyond their duty to cater for our halaal options and veg curries and even roti
Set up of venue was so excellent. They worked with us towards such a memorable event. For the pricing their value for money exceeded all our expectations.
Our friends sat till late night at the pool area, in the foyer and in the conference room they catered to our every whim and fancy.
excellent well maintained property, pristine and manicured lawns...a delight to just sit and enjoy the views
Hotel rooms were very well maintained and all amenities needed were there. Again value for money compared to even b and b who charge much much more in the Newcastle area
Breakfast was so varied and plentiful we couldn't do justice to all that was placed on the buffet.
What a great team at Blackrock from the reception staff to the housekeepers ...I can say as a top reviewer that Blackrock is s star in the tsogo flagship.

The hotel offers good service, and fairly modern facilities. I cannot find any fault with the room – all was in working order and the room size is aligned to any other 3-star hotel. The hotel is linked to the Casino which offers a few dining options. Our dinner was in the Mid City Grill - good food, but not great service. The hotel also offers a small fitness centre and secure parking and the wi-fi signal is reliable. I strongly recommend as an accommodation option.

This the 3rd time I been to Blackrock Hotel. They have cut down to just one complimentary water bottle to the duration of your stay and no milk just powdered creamers. A real budget strapped hotel for the price you for pay a day/night. Breakfast: the plates are hot but not the food especially the sausages and the toaster does not work correctly. I can live with it BUT not the underlying racism towards South African Indians. When I quickly greeted one of the room Attendants to enquire to the direction of the whereabouts of the poorly labeled eating/ Dining hall. The room attendant became very assertive when in the presence of other black patrons that walked by making sure her voice was loud enough for them to hear in the distance demanding I greet her the way she wanted like she owned the hotel. Wow, it doesn't take much to know when a person is being a black supremacist /Racist towards you in Tone and facial expression. Hotel hospitality!. Not Tsogo Sun Blackrock Hotel, that's for sure. I pay. I greet. I am nice to all at the hotel but to see people behave In this manner towards hotel guests because I am of Indian descent. Truly disgusting.

From the front dest?reception staff to room house keeping to dinner/breafast staff the service is very consistant. Even the staff you will meet at the corridors/passages, the respect they show, the warm greeting accompanied by smiles is constantly excellent. Going there is now for me like going back home...hotel staff that remember your name and say welcoome back Mr Ngonyama with very welcoming and warm smiles!! All the time! That for me is what I call excellent client experience. Whoever is in charge of your client handling skills needs a promotion.

food is too cliché, normal, usual and below standard especial for buffet . every hotel must have that special food that will make someone say I will come here again for that fish, that salad and that meat. your food is usual I don't know

I had the pleasure of visiting the Shebeen pub last fri evening with a few friends .the place is a true authentic irish pub.the owner came to our table for a few minutes.his charm and Irish wit really makes the place electric. We enjoyed a few pints and a nice meal.the bartenders are friendly and very fast.If ur in the BlackRock neighborhood u must stop in and enjoy a few pints. An ideal place to take a date for Valentine's.

This is the worst 4* hotel in the world!!! The speedpoints (credit cards) at the bar were not connected. Staff didn't know how to charge refreshments to our room. Rooms are very small and lack basic amenities like a hair dryer, face towels, guest services directory, writing pad & pen etc. In the morning the aircon was not working. Television set was also on the blink. Worst of all there was no water. My wife and I used a bit of water in the kettle to wipe our faces and checked out. Staff didn't see anything wrong with our experience and still charged us the full amount!
