I am proud and confident to rate them the best in town. Camelot is homely and very warm. Coming back is a definite. Compliments to the chef, dinner was to die for. Housekeeping staff are friendly and always helpful.
Thanks once more for your warm hospitality.

My husband & I overnighted at this guest house en route to Johannesburg: The directions given were good and we found it without any trouble. Our reception was friendly and helpful and we were shown to our room, although with no offer of help for any luggage we had.
The room was large and must double up for families as there was a double bunk on one side. While on first appearances seemingly opulent with huge double bed, dark walls, heavily draped windows, antique fashioned furniture and rich colours, on closer inspection the white bed linen was frayed and looked tired as did the well worn carpeting and drapes. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean enough, although the bathroom could have used some attention. There was only a shower in the same partitioned area as the toilet and a ceiling over the ablution area would have been preferable, as would a few hooks or rails to hang towelling on while in the shower. We also felt the two meagre towels we were supplied to share were insufficient.
We went out for an excellent dinner and after experiencing the breakfast were glad we made that choice! The service was inattentive and our waiter at breakfast did not write anything down. Despite checking a few times when the food arrived each of the three cooked options (we had a guest with us) was mixed up. Boiled eggs arrived cold and shelled - a bit disconcerting when one expects them hot and served in an eggcup! Dirty dishes were not cleared timeously. Would we stay here again - I think we would have liked to have been here twenty or even ten years ago, but now Camelot is just a faded beauty of what once must have been quite grand.

although i was initially intimidated by the decor which is a bit odd, i fell in love first with the staff - they are professional, courteous and friendly without being over familiar or aloof. They were always available and the food is so good - all home cooked ... it could do with a green salad here or there but great effort and love was put into every meal. The rooms are super comfortable and clean.

After finding a large grey dead mouse on the floor of the first room I was moved to another. There was no milk for tea or coffee so I requested some only to then find no sugar. The aircon was incredibly noisy and possibility has not been serviced in many years as the heat function wasn't working which is not ideal in a newcastle winter. I discovered the next morning that there was no cold water running from the taps and only a trickle of hot resulting in a shower in another room( my original room with the dead mouse). This is totally unacceptable from a so called 4 star b&b at R710 a night excluding dinner.
