Horrible in every sense. Feels like you just arrived at the poor house. Unfriendly, unwelcoming staff. Decor is extremely dated and the place has a stale smell. Rooms are dirty and furniture cheap. The cuisine is the absolute low-point of the Newcastle Inn. Poor ingredients, salted to death and the driest meat and chicken I have ever had. I would rather dine at a prison than eat here again. Buffet very limited and the items actually available are inedible. Wifi barely usable. Avoid this place if you can. Very expensive.

Very efficient and helpful staff. On top of their game as they know all the procedures. The room and bathroom was clean and bedding was fresh. Service in the restaurant was of a high standard as was the quality of the food. Management was visible which is always a great plus on the marketing side. Well done.

I stayed in the Newcastle Inn during March 2019 for business. It looks like an old Holiday Inn or City lodge somebody bought and run now as the Newcastle Inn. The establishment is clean, the gardens well kept however not good value for money. It needs some maintenance, especially on the outside and a serious upgrade on the inside. We were working in Newcastle for three weeks and in the evening when you want to go to your room to relax and watch the sport on a decent TV channel the disappointment struck you between the eyes. I travel a lot, all over South Africa and Namibia and this is the first hotel/guesthouse which does not provide some DSTV channels. They only have one DSTV sports channel. The first evening I was watching sports and all of a sudden right in the middle of the game, somebody just decided to change the channel. They only provide SABC 1, 2, 3 and some ETV channels. The second strange thing was when you go for dinner, even before you ordered anything you have to sign a slip for R52.00. When I asked about this the lady told me it is for 2 soft drinks. Nobody ask you if you want 2 soft drinks or maybe something else from the bar, you just have to sign. The food was nice, however, it was the same food every evening with just a little bit of a variety.
