When I consider cost, location, cleanliness, and staff Alpina Hotel is good value for money. This is a budget hotel, and we stayed in a hostel-style room [i.e., no toilet and shower, but it did have a small sink]. Room was clean and the bathroom area was dated but also clean. You do get what you pay for, and it was for Interlaken very affordable. But it's not a resort, so be prepared for a budget experience. The front desk staff was super lovely and helpful, the bar staff was very kind, and the location was very close to many restaurants. I'm not totally sure I would stay again [unless there was an en suite]. But if you are looking for cheerful and cheap, this is an excellent option in Interlaken.

The welcome we got was not so great as the guy on duty was like in a sleepy mood. But the next say we had a nice lady at the reception who was very kind and helpful. The drawbacks are -sheets and not changed daily -towels not changed daily -pillows not comfortable -no coffee machine in the room offered -not even extra glasses The good thing is that we had a nice view

Never again. Incopetent owners.Really terrible people. Wasted my time driving 6 hours to that hotel. 8 o'clock at night on my way to the hotel they call me to cancel my booking. That was on the 31 of December. Impossible to find another hotel at this time and day. I changed the year with a newborn baby and my wife in the cold car because of those unspeakable people. I would write worse words but booking will delete my review. You are truly terrible.

We had a group of 13 and needed to find a place to eat. It was late, we did not have reservations. We all ordered the snitzel and we sat outside at nicely ordered tables, under trees. It had been HOT all day, and, our wonderful server kept bringing pitchers of cold water while we waited. We ALL LOVED the snitzel and the wonderful server and service. Very Friendly and GREAT FOOD!

The owner of this place is very friendly and provides wonderful information about the area upon arrival. We got a nice surprise when we learned that tourists receive a free bus pass during their stay if they stay at a hotel in the region. The accommodations were basic. The sheets were not changed every day, and there were many rules including no washing, cooking and no making take away lunches from breakfast bar. The take away breakfast the hotel provided on our early mornings was fantastic even without offering a coffee to go. Our room was located on the the first level and our patio was shared with 2 other rooms. We were not aware the window could be half opened until the housekeeper opened it on our second day. Fans and air conditioning are not available at this hotel. The bathrooms were like a 1960s model with a shower curtain separating the shower and toilet.

Stayed here for a week in June '19, booked through Inghams. I have to say from the outset that the welcome from the owner and staff are fantastic, very polite and helpful. There is a lift to all floors. I stayed on half board basis - the breakfast is typical continental style, perfectly adequate, great coffee and a good start to the day. One curiosity is the coloured hard boiled eggs. The dinner served each night bar Sunday was very good every day and could be described as the sort of food you can imagine Swiss families eating. I saw a few others eating there and those paying from the menu seemed to be enjoying their meals. The bar area is frequented by locals. The room I had on the third floor was perfectly adequate and comfortable, had a balcony with decent views. The shower was on the same floor and was perfectly ok. The hotel's outdoor garden is great and has fantastic views of the Jungfrau and other mountains. The beer is good too. Only two downsides: (1) The wi-fi is a bit patchy. I could barely get a signal in my room but was fast downstairs and in the beer garden (2) The sound-proofing is not great between floors. I had noisy people below me two nights into my stay, I did mention this to the owner who in fairness sorted it out quickly, then again on my last night, again from the room underneath, with the occupier thinking a loud call to prayer at midnight and again at 6am is considerate. There can be considerable noise from the neighbouring hotel (the Mattenhof), but don't be put off by these irritations. I just have a very low tolerance threshold of inconsiderates within the human race. The bar and restaurant are closed on Sunday & Monday, but there are options within a 5 minutes walk, or get the bus into Interlaken. For what I paid, for the great service, the convenience of getting anywhere, it was a great stay.

Practically within walking distance to West Interlaken, this hotel didn't betray me of the tranquility of the Swiss setting. I have to say the staff were most helpful and accommodating. I stayed for 3 nights in a wide bed all for myself, the first two of which rained too hard. The days were glorious but the nights were stormy. However, in those moments, when it rained in the nights, i felt i was in my hometown. The howling wind and the raging rain reminded me of my tropical country. I snuggled in the comfort of their soft bed in my private room, with my own toilet and terrace that was facing the Harder Kulm. What's more, with a super-fast Wi-Fi (I was in Room 115), i got to update my posts on FB real fast, while the TV plays on some music videos. My parents got to see my whereabouts each and every day. Meanwhile, the breakfast was very satisfying and Dora serves me coffee with a greeting like "hi, hello, good morning." Everyone was very hospitable. When I had to leave for Zermatt, I felt I was leaving a space of "comfort" so good that I had to say goodbye to Dora. I hope I could come back...someday.

We stayed for 14 nights, and Dora really looked after us. Clean towels and bedding every day, a delicious 4-course evening meal (no choice though - this is a 3-star hotel!), friendly staff, and it really felt 'just like home'!

My wife and I spent two weeks at this hotel on a half board basis travelling with Inghams. We found the owner and staff to be very freindly and polite. The room we had was adequate, with a shower cubicle of which after a couple of days we got used too, making your own tea or coffee in the room is frowned upon, but you can borrow a flask and have hot water whenever you wish. Our room was on the first floor at the front of the hotel, allthough it was noisy when having the patio doors and windows open when closed very quiet due to newly installed triple glazing. Great view of the Jungfrau from the large balcony outside our room. We found the food to be excellent, we had a four course meal every night and every night meal was different. Although the hotel is 20 minute walk from Interlaken there is two buses No 105, 106 which run every half hour to Interlaken West and Ost. We will return to this hotel, great value for money.

Traditional swiss chalet type, wooden floors (creaking sometimes), basic rooms with shower cubicles only (no bath tub). Great views from balcony. Quiet. Friendly staff. Basic breakfast. They still have the old door lock and long iron key (was good for a change). Staff went out of the way to wait and help, when we travelled late at night and hadn't taken the night key for the main entrance. Enjoyed stay and despite basic rooms no issues in the end.
