Guests at The St. Regis Florence are enveloped in luxury, with a butler service and finely appointed rooms that have earned high marks for their spaciousness and elegance. The atmosphere is often described as regal, blending charm with comfort. While the impeccable cleanliness and prime location near Florence's attractions are consistently praised, some guests question the value due to the high cost of extras. Despite minor criticisms regarding room upkeep and complex lighting systems, the hotel's overall service and amenities receive rave reviews.

Most visitors who return to Florence Italy will tell you that it has a very special magical charm, that brings you back time and again. As a longtime Marriott member, the merger with SPG into Marriott Bonvoy now afforded a new great opportunity to revisit one of the special places in Italy: the St. Regis Florence. The hotel was built in 1432, by perhaps one of the most remarkable, renown, and influential architects, Filippo Brunelleschi. He has become known for the Florence Cathedral's, "Brunelleschi's Dome" as well as helping to introduce the concept of perspective. And Mark Twain, who wrote about his travels through Europe, in "Innocents Abroad", has been noted as the first American to stay in this hotel, which was known as the "Grand Hotel Royal de la Paix".
The St. Regis, which is located in Piazza Ognissanti, is in a special location that begs you to explore both sides of the Arno River. However you begin to realize what a unique place you staying in: from the greeting, to registration, to the butler who has been assigned for your stay. The luxurious accommodations appear as if you time traveled back to another era which included, a full view of the Arno. Queen Victoria who also stayed here, may have marveled at this view looking down the Arno to the Ponte Vecchi.
You don't have to leave the hotel to be immersed in Florentine history and culture. The walls are adorned with historical photos , an Art Deco stained glass and iron skylight, as well as wonderful restaurants including the Winter Garden restaurant with 1 Michelin Star. And all this is before you walk out the door to the magical world of Florence.
I am very fortunate to be able to stay at and review a second special St. Regis this year and have added it to my Level 8 "Marriott Bonvoy Crown Jewels".

We have stayed at the Saint Regis Florence Italy three times. I consider this one of my top picks in Florence for many reasons, first reason is location. It’s close proximity to all the main attractions makes it very appealing to me. Second is the exceptional service and well trained staff at the hotel. Whether you need to have clothes shipped back to the 🇺🇸 or need restaurants suggestions or even have your personal butler unpack your suitcase or pander to your every whim it’s up to you,,,,, but expect great service at this establishment.
Thirdly are the incredible rooms appointed with every beautiful amenity you can imagine with Florentine furnishings including marble bathrooms.
They have a Beautiful and palatial lobby which is appointed with one of the largest venetian chandeliers in Italy. However being centrally located means real estate is that a premium so there’s not ample space for a large spa sauna and steam.
I Grab these pictures off of Google of the lobby in the room that we stayed in at the last visit

Although I have stayed at many hotels in Florence, this was my first time at the St Regis. We had a wonderful stay. The room was large, well-appointed, and in perfect condition (no wall marks, not wood chips, etc.) The hotel is a grand hotel is all the best ways, but also clean and modern in the ways it needs to be. The service was good. the food was very good. And it was a wonderful slice of luxury to which to return. As a side note, it was also more affordable than many of the other hotels I was looking at and the value was exceptional. It helped make our trip to Florence so special!

As the great Renaissance poets of yesteryear espoused, “If only to be young and in love in the St Regis in Florence.” And indeed, it is true.

We visited the St Regis at the start of our honeymoon in this great country and I cannot fathom a better landing spot. We enjoyed rest and luxury in this beautiful hotel from the get/go.

The rooms were personally designed and built by Michelangelo in his later years. Ok, maybe not, but they do feel regal and dignified, and you can look out and see the bridges Michelangelo designed from your window overlooking the river. And that is real.

The staff was wonderful. The concierge helped with all our reservations and planning. The “butlers” brought a freshly made French press of coffee to our room every morning. And the location is absolutely perfect to access the main parts of town, museums, and the squares, without being right in the thick of the crowds and noise.

I’m also going to buy their mattress because I’ve never slept so well. Was it all dream? Or is this the dream… and the St Regis is the only thing that’s real?

St. Regis Florence is a once in a lifetime experience (for an American, at least)! We stayed here when we visited Florence. It still has the Florence charm, beautiful artistic touches with a spark of luxury. We were lucky enough (thanks to Marriott Ambassador status) to be upgraded to one of the suites during our stay. The views were breathtaking from our suite! The staff was suburb and butler was excellent. Florence was our favorite Italian city and St. Regis was a big part of that experience! We are very thankful we were able to experience such an AMAZING hotel!

We walked from the train station upon arrival and it was about a 10 minute walk. It was raining on the day we left, so we had a taxi called - which was €20-30. Easy access to all of Florence, we were able to walk everywhere.

I am a light sleeper and from the fourth floor I couldn't hear any street noise (a common concern in a big city) or any hallway noise. Air conditioning was perfect and bed was comfy!

Bottom line, we had a great stay in a wonderful room. Stayed in a premium Arno view, with a "suite experience" package that includes arrival gift and daily breakfast, in the dining room or in our room. Stayed in room 423. Very comfortable with a larger than expected balcony, which we enjoyed.

The room was very nice, and all our requests were definitely dealt with promptly and to a high standard. BUT, service was all a bit odd. We met our butler on check-in, then never saw her again, all our requests were dealt with by other people, rarely the same individual. Maybe it was because we used the butler line or email and not texts? Another weird thing was that, despite a six night stay, none of the concierge team seemed to ever recognize us, which made everything a bit awkward, particularly since you need to get your key everyone you return. Maybe it was the masks.

It's a very nice hotel and we had a wonderful week, but for the price, I expected a bit more personable service.

Dear BytownRover, Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience with at The St. Regis Flroence. We are sincerely pleased that you enjoyed your beautiful Premium Room looking the river: every room is, indeed, a piece of heart for us that we are honored to share with our valued guests, such as yourself. And the amazing thing is that we have incredibly beautiful and comfortable rooms even starting from the basic type. I sincerely apologize that we fell short of meeting your expectations in some areas as the missing of personal interaction with the same butler or concierge . Actually in each department we have different people working throughout the different part of the day (morning, afternoon and night). I'm glad that you understand that our Concierges Team has as its own priority the guest security and safety: for this reason they want any time to be sure about the identity of the guest requiring the room key ... identity not always visible due to the mask. Please note your feedback has been shared with the hotel team as a critical way of understanding how we can continue to deliver great experiences. Hoping that you will allow us another opportunity to demonstrate our genuine hospitality for which the St. Regis brand is known, It would be our sincere pleasure to welcome you back! We booked two rooms and were blown away at the impeccable, truly flawless, service. From the moment we met Aldo in the drive to the last moments when we check out, the staff is the best we have ever experienced in any of our travels. Every single employee we encountered would give a greeting when passing through the property.

The rooms were gorgeous, very well maintained with all of the amenities you’d expect. The linens were crisp cotton, rooms cooled well even in the extreme heat of summer, plus generous water on the night stand and beverage cart. One amenity in the bathroom that was extra considerate was the facial cleansing balm; what a nice touch! Daily turndown service always left a little token sweet for the evening. The evening champagne ritual was fun and the cocktails and wine were wonderful. Lorenzo and several other gentlemen at the concierge desk helped us book restaurants (even getting a much desired 3 star Michelin dinner reservation at very short notice!) but also timed us into several locally loved trattorias that were delightful. It’s always so nice when the concierge offers suggestions to help us immerse in the local culture. The concierge desk also helped to confirm our transfers and tour details with the local providers. We shared a couples massage in the Iridium Suites which were so dreamy and relaxing after several days of travel and touring throughout the country.

Overall, this St. Regis was beyond compare!

I had a long train ride from Siena to Florence. I was so exhausted by the time arrived at the train station. I just wanted to get to the hotel. I was hoping it wasn't too far from the train station. It wasn't. In fact, I could have walked with luggage if I wasn't so exhausted. The building is absolutely beautiful inside and out. The doorman opened the door for each patron, every single time. When I got to the hotel, the concierge took my baggage from me, escorted me to the check in area, where they brought me a cup of coffee. I sat in a chair, drinking my espresso while I checked in. I was in heaven. The lady who checked me in escorted me to my room, and my baggage was already there. The room was superb! I went down to the bar, where the bartenders wore the white coats and black bow ties. I had amazing Italian champagne based on the recommendation of the server. In the back corner, a pianist was playing music, in the dim lit room surrounded by Morano glass

We very much enjoyed our stay at the St Regis in Florence. It’s a beautiful hotel with exceptional service and very well located in the heart of Florence. It has all the classic charm of your typical St Regis hotel, with some added artistic flair, emblematic of the city itself.

The service was excellent, and the rooms were spacious with a charming grandeur. We had a room overlooking the river with stunning views of Florence and it's pretty much a 10-minute walk from most places you'd want to see in the city.

There were a couple of small areas of improvement: we thought the breakfast was average. Two mornings we had to flag people down to get a cup of coffee after waiting for 20 minutes and both times the coffee arrived after we'd finished our breakfast. Similar thing to get some still water as the water on the buffet had run out. The food itself was also average. I've experienced far better at other St Regis hotels.

We also ordered a bottle of wine with our room service dinner the first night. There was no wine list in the room, so we just asked for a house red from the bar. After room service had uncorked it and poured us a glass, we found out the price was over $200. I have no issue paying for good wine but I'm that scenario, I think the price should have been flagged.

Overall, it was a great stay and I'd certainly recommend it for anyone looking for a glamorous hotel in central Florence.

My SO and I stayed here for several nights in July during an extended trip through Italy, and we couldn't help but feel disappointed. We were initially considering the Four Seasons, but ultimately decided on the St Regis given its central location & overall favorable reviews.

Though well-decorated and clean, the room was small.. and by small I mean nearly claustrophobic. We eagerly overlooked this as we wanted to make the most of our stay, but within the first few hours, we noticed the air conditioning had issues. It simply would not get cool. On the screen it remained "set to XX Celsius" but never actually reached that temperature at any point during the stay as the current temp shown on the screen never changed. Not even 1 degree.

We informed the concierge/ butler service our first night, and someone was sent to "fix" it. He arrived, opened a panel in the ceiling and - I assume - tried to reset the A/C, and was out of the room in under 3 minutes, claiming it was now "fixed". It was not. We woke up sweating at several points, and tried informing them once again the following day on our way out. We were assured someone would be up again to fix it, but they evidently did not, or it did not work, as it was just as warm when we returned to the room later that evening. At this point we resolved to just dealing with it, as 2 attempts to have this fixed resulted in nothing and we were not convinced anything would come of yet another attempt.

Beyond the problems with the A/C, there were exceptionally few amenities. Florence is a small city and hotels are generally small here, but considering the Four Seasons is nearly equivalent in price, it has significantly more to offer both in room size and amenities, and would be my recommendation for those visiting.

Dear Mrs. Marisaroseg, Allow us to thank you for choosing The St. Regis Florence guided by the fantastic reviews on our guests experiences and by the unique location. We sincerely regret to learn that, despite the beautiful and comfortable room assigned, you have suffered to the limits of claustrophobia: the deluxe room chosen for you is one of our largest one, in Florentine style, characterized by light colors and unmistakable brightness, on the third floor with high ceilings, two windows in the room overlooking the rooftops of Florence and overlooking the dome of our Magnificent Cathedral. We are really sorry that you did not immediately share your expectations with us ... we would have done everything to offer you the solution that best suits your needs. As for the air conditioning, our system can reach a cooler temperature of 16 degrees: our maintenance staff set the in room air conditioning to the minimum reachable. As a valuable guest, it is our hope that you may reconsider to come back to Florence and visit us again … it will be my personal commitment to go beyond all your expectations. They absolutely hold luggage. The staff really goes above and beyond to help in any way! The hotel is actually deceptively close to all the major sites. We had no trouble walking to everything the 3 days we were in Florence. Ponte Vecchio is one of the farthest sites from the hotel, but there are many stops in between the 2. The concierge was extremely helpful in giving us directions, a map, pointing out where we should stop, etc.

Bathrooms are definitely updated- the style isn’t modern, but that doesn’t mean the fixtures are old. They definitely are current (we looked at the exact type of toilet when we were building our home one year ago). The water pressure in our room was excellent, and we did not have a “fancy” room- just one of the standard rooms. And there is a TV in the bathroom mirror, if that’s something you are interested in :)
