The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was super clean. Mattress and pillows excellent. Spectacular view. The breakfast was excellent. It located at the entrance of the town. Easy connection between the parking and the hotel facilitated by multiple escalators,

We booked this hotel based on the comments and ratings from Tripadvisor, and were very disappointed. 1. Despite the bragging about the beautiful views, we found that we had to pay extra in order to actually get a room with a view - our initial room faced the city wall about 5 meters away. 2. This hotel is in general an average 3-star posing as a 4-star hotel. 3. Reception staff were rather surly initially, but got friendlier over the three days we stayed there. 4, Staff at breakfast were not friendly at all, and stood there watching everyone like policemen. Breakfast options were limited compared to other hotels on out trip (all 3/4 stars). Hot food (tasteless scrambled eggs and halved vienna sausages) was cold, even when the breakfast room opened. 5. Hotel room was tiny for a 4-star, with a miniscule TV screen. 6. No way to control heating in the room - you took what you got and that was that. 7. Walls are paper thin. 8. Hotel is easy to find and close to the heart of the town.

Hotel San Luca is beautifully located on the edge of Cortona with room balconys--plus a big balcony off the bar/restaurant. Can't beat the views of Tuscany and the rates are very moderate. The only negative is the parking which is down the hill but not bad.

Great locaion and view. We were hoping to cycling but it was too wet, there was a secure biky storage room, and the staff were helpful in letting us park our mini-bus out the front to load and unload. The breakfast was nice, excpet the decaf coffee was not the best, good view from the dining room. Bedroom was comfortable but nothing exceptional.

Our group arrived and could not believe the knock out view from our balconies. If you have a fear of heights, you may wish a room on the other side but otherwise...We were signed up for an enhanced Continental breakfast and it really was enhanced with scrambled eggs, an espresso machine and tons of sweet buns, fresh fruit, juice, meats, cheese etc etc. There is a small gym just off the breakfast room but we had no chance to try it as only here for two nights. We loved the hotel and it is near everything, shopping, cafes, restaurants. Two notes of caution that are not part of the hotel are 1. There is an attractive looking patio in front of the hotel and we assumed (wrongly) that it was part of the hotel. Avoid! We were travel weary and longing to sit down and have a glass of wine. An officious waiter said not allowed unless we order full meal. There were tons of empty tables which should have been a warning sign. While the food in Italy is generally excellent it is still possible to get a bad meal. This was our night. Our party of four had one good meal, two so-so and one inedible. We thought we would make up for it the next night. Tip #2 Most good quality restaurants are closed on Wednesday which was our 2nd day. We were part of a group of 57 so perhaps overwhelmed the ones that were open. Otherwise our visit to Cortona wqas very enjoyable.
