We were supposed to be there for 4 nights, we left after 2. Promised a refund for one night 3 weeks ago- still waiting despite promises of ur last week. The hotel is 2.5 miles from the historic centre in a grim residential area. The bar area is lovely but that is about it. The first room they showed us smelt strongly of damp, carpets were filthy not a 4 stAr hotel in any sense. We were moved to new rooms my Mom said it was like being in a tin can! Rooms painted dark metallic grey including the ceilings with black light shades ..... so dark. Noise from function room horrendous, evidently no sound proofing. Breakfast was pretty awful, plastic cups for juice , little choice. There are much nicer hotels - avoid. The director wouldn’t even speak with us to discuss issues, made poor receptionist do it- they lie and have no regard for customers.

The hotel is in an old Sicilian villa nicely renovated. The building is lovely and the hotel itself is very beautiful, really charming and elegant with antique Sicilian forniture. The facilities are well maintained as the rooms. The breakfast room located on the 2nd floor has a nice view over the city and the coast. The breakfast buffet is very good and offers a great variety of croissants and pastry and they also serve a more continental bacon with eggs. Attentive staff. Reasonable price.

It was great! Service was good, friendly staff and I even got to use the piano which sits in a lounge room which was amazing! Breakfast in the morning provided a good variety of food and drinks with a lovely view of the city as you ate! All I could have asked for!

We looked at this hotel on Booking.com I reserved a room but the site gave me no confirmation of reservation either at the time or by email. my wife found a place on the beach. I could find no reservation on the booking.com site and messaged them. They told me I had no reservation. On return home I am charged £1100 for the stay which i did not know existed. I have no way of contacting the hotel and having had no communication or booking confirnation from them feel very let down by this hotel. I can't understand how you can be charged when you have no booking confirmation.

Response from direzi0negenerale, Direttore generale at Villa del Bosco Hotel

Dear Sir, thank you for your review. To be clear we need to explain what it would be happend: - To charge from a credit card, it is necessary to have credit card number, date of expire and all the credit card informations. If we charged on your credit card we had your credit card details from a reservation that you, maybe, made under a different name that you gave us on phone when you called to check it. - If we charged the total amount, your reservation was probably a not refundable rate, and CHARGING is what is written on the reservation policy. We are very sorry about you left a very bad review without staing in our hotel. We invite you to call us and give the correct name of the reservation to give us the possibility to clear the situation or misunderstanding. Best regards

My boyfriend and I had to leave this hotel because the beds are SO uncomfortable that he had back pain after just 10 minutes of lying on it. The hotel staff were incredibly rude and offered no solutions, other than giving us one measly additional pillow, which did not help. Additionally, the hotel is falsely advertised online and we were very disappointed with not only the old beds, but the tiny pool, poor wifi, loud hallways (you can hear everything from inside the room, especially those upstairs), apparent lack of a restaurant, and distance from the citycentre, among others (i.e. rude staff). The receptionist refused to reimburse us, but not only that, she also refused to contact the manager or the owner, and wouldn't give us the contact info either. That seemed very, very suspicious to us. Eventually, after being yelled at by the receptionist to the point where I was almost crying, we decided to leave without getting our money back for a FOUR NIGHT STAY, and the staff didn't even offer to call us a taxi! We had to walk with our luggage to a nearby hospital where the staff spoke English, and they kindly called us a cab. We considered cutting our holiday short and leaving the country, that's how bad this hotel is. But instead, we were fortunate enough to get a lovely room at Four Points by Sheraton, where we had a great time. To anyone considering staying at Hotel Villa del Bosco, have a look at Four Points by Sheraton first and then make your decision. The Four Points has very pleasant and helpful staff, a nice pool, access to the sea, strong wifi, a restaurant and two bars offering additional food options, and a shuttle that runs to the citycentre regularly. Oh, and the bed we got there was a California King, it was unbelievably comfortable and helped my boyfriend's back problems massively! The Four Points gave us 6 pillows, by the way.
